Lets be honest, we don't buy the mech for the loadouts. We buy the mechs for the hardpoints. There should be an option to buy stripped out mech variants without weapons or an engine.

I like. Nice tradeoff for having to grind efficiencies on multiple chassis, too.

I'm sure there are greasy salesmen selling used chassis recovered from the battlefields, or Houses that have upgraded their forces, kept the weapons for reuse but want to make back some of their cost by selling their stripped down old chasis

Could make it a user only thing. Buy as is. But to prevent inflation and such, it'd have to be preset by the game based on the value of what's being sold.

In otherwords, you have have a Mech you want to sell, you have 2 options... Sell it now to the NPC Market for 100 C-bills or Sell it on the user market for 150 cbills. Price is set by the game. Only way to get a stripped mech is from a user, now that mech is still going to occupy their garage slot while they try and sell it.

dang good idea. When you sell a mech you can sell a striped down mech why not when you buy it. Since the cbill income for alot of plp is a issue this could help out alot.

Seen this idea a few times before. As always, +1 to this. (Seriously, why would I care about the state of the internal structure or engine when I'm just going to replace with Endo Steel and XL anyways??)

Maybe. Good for the player, not sure about for the developer.

Thank you Ravensol, I try and post actual suggestions. They actually used my Salvage suggestion, so I know they actually read these. At least I'd like to take credit for it since it's exactly how I suggested and I posted it forever and a day ago.

Its more about a price point than the loadout you get with it.

They are not trying to make the mechs cheaper than they are now.

You could just sell all the parts after you buy it.

Then why spend the money on the parts in first place. Example... Why buy an mech with an XL Engine if you're going to pull the engine for a better or different one anyways.

yeah... the player market is more of a "Run it up the flag pole and see who salutes". I still think buying a stripped down mech is needed though.

A player market down the road, i.e. after the Metagame is released will be necessary. Right now? Not so much!

+1 for stripped mechs, although would that mech still come with it's base engine or no?

I think there should be two options for stripped mechs:
1: No weapons, ammo, or extra heatsinks. Engine and armour included.
2: No weapons, ammo, extra heatsinks, engine, or armour. Just the base mech.

Or when we go and buy a mech, we can specify what we don't want? So when I buy my centurion, I can still get it with it's AC/10 and 2 MLs, but without the LRM launcher + ammo.

Though I doubt it'd be very popular, it might be interesting if there was a "Salvage Yard", where the contents were random -- random number of mechs in random conditions.

Not if they make the chassis only mechs purchasable with MC only :P or make the cost of the chassis slightly more than it would be if you bought the mech with the weapons and stripped it.
