In the Mechlab devlog, a few examples of modules were shown.

"Far View" increases the sight range by 2.5%. The effect itself isn't immersion breaking, but the name could definitely be better, to make it sound like a piece of equipment.

But "Bring the Rain" increasing missile range by 2.5%? I really hope that we're not going to be seeing modules like this, with silly names and no attempt to explain them in terms of canon. Let's keep the design immersed in the gritty Battletech atmosphere. Falling away from that isn't going to help anything, in my opinion.

Yeah, and the Mouse-a-Pult is going to be a new canon 'mech. Modules could represent timing your missiles' detonation to maximize damage or focusing your visual sensors more so than a stock 'mech.

Where did it say "Bring the Rain" I did not read that anywhere..

Most recent blog, think number 6 part 2... somewhere in there. Looks like they are taking their naming conventions from Guild Wars... oh jeez.

You keep thinking of it as grinding, but really all it is, is you earning a paycheck. So look on the bright side, at least you'll love your new job! XD

I couldn't care less what they are named, just what they do. They are suppossed to be little tricks your pilot has learned through playing around with the sofware that powers their mech and nuerohelmet they are bound to have some stupid names.

Pretty sure that (just like Mouse-A-Pult, McMech, and Duck-O-Tron), the module names we saw in the Dev Blog were just placeholders - module names will likely be different for the actual game.

No really I think it's "Pretty Cool" but I don't think is "Awesome" maybe we should call it "Groovy"

A rose by any other name would smell like an LRM.

I'm pretty sure he said in the blog that "Far View" was an example. Not the name of an actual module that they're putting in the game.

There was a disclamer basically saying none of this is final and is subject to change.

This is the same for the devblog that showed the pilot and mech trees.

None of the names are final.....yet....they are just placeholders.

That said the OP does have a point IMO...........maybe we should suggest some names for the stuff they have shown us so far ?

Place holder names they used are far better than say 'mod1' (insert definition). But then a post would have been written about that being immersion breaking?

The dev blog isn't actually what it will be named, they'll have much better names i'm sure. After all the mech Cluck-a-pult isn't going into the game.

Welcome to the forums. Try not to take the obvious jokes that the devs were making seriously. We haven't even seen footage of anything past an Alpha build.

I hope a "Make it Rain" module does find its way into the game.

Except it gives you more money for killing your opponent with LRMs/airstrikes.

I think the modules' real name will end up being something that makes sense in-lore, I mean look at all the care that has gone into the news-snippets and stories. So I would imagine that "Bring the Rain" would really be called something like "Archon Industries Missile Guidance Efficiency Module".
