So I was reading this post about the different kinds of maps (hot, cold, wet, urban, healthy, sexy, Brooklyn) and ways in which the maps would affect the mechs performance. One thing Wasn't mentioned (or I can't seem to be able to find it): GRAVITY.
Fighting on a moon or asteroid, if such a thing is planned, will effect the way your machine moves as well as the performance of ballistic weapons. Theoretically, that is. What will it be like in the game? Any ideas? Will there be any gravity effects (low and high gravity)?

Different gravity environments have been part of this series since 1995. Welcome to Mechwarrior.

The TT had it before the first MW game was ever created, welcome to Battletech.

This is not Battletech Online. Grats on a successful comparison of apples and oranges.

So, what do you think Battletech is?

Battletech is a table top / board game involving DICE. The skill set involved is more aclimated towards monopoly or an SAT math problem than towards a first person shooter. Now if you want to go play TT battletech on the moon, the comparison would be more apt.

This is not a BT vs MW thread and nor should it be. Please stay on topic.

Personally this would be an interesting thing to add to the game imo, but if it is or isn't is all up to speculation, I imagine...
Floating Atlas's for the win!

Fighting on the Moon would kind of suck for Mechs using ballistics. Missles I'm pretty sure would work and lasers would be fine.

Thanks Paul. I know the difference between BT-TT and a video game. And my question was exactly that: is this particular aspect of the TT game going to be integrated? Not the climate but, specifically, the gravity? In MW2, there were some missions on moons and in space (zero g and low g).

but there was no effect with regard to the weapons' performance. Just that the 'mech could run faster, AFAIK.

Battletech is actually the entire franchise that consists of the TT, videogames, novels, cartoons, etc.
Thank you for playing.

No sweat.

Anyway, back on topic.

There is a great deal of potential for the various worlds of the IS and Periphery beyond gravity.
- There is a large variety of worlds that have domed cities where the inhabitants could not possibly live on the planet for long. There was a beautiful piece of art for this once, but I cannot seem to find it. Dustball has 5 domed cities for instance.
- The Periphery sourcebook had some pretty cool cover art with alien plants and whatnot, I would love to see plantlife you would not normally see on Earth.
- Alien/genetically engineerd animals, there are plenty of these around:

http://www.sarna.net...n_%28species%29
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Megasaur
http://www.sarna.net...n_%28species%29
- There could also be different atmospheric effects, not every sky and sea have to be blue.
- A year on Trellwan only takes 45 days and you will get to see every season in those 45 days. There are tons of other planets with non-standard seasons and whatnot.

There is a ton of potential here for the IS worlds.
