Does this happen to anyone else? your 'Mech gets to close to a glowing one and decides to put on it's bloody sunglasses. If so, does anyone know how to STOP it? A console command, user.cfg..anything? I'm sorry, I can't pilot my jenner with the equivalent of my eyes closed.

Its a known issue and is being addressed. It was an unintended effect that was included with the Cryengine update.

EDIT:

I was going to link the referance but the thread this was confirmed in but it is no longer available after the website revamp. It was stated in the "Impromptu ask me anything with Bryan Ekman" thread about a week ago.

It's a cool effect... just out of place.

If it happened in conjunction with a fusion engine getting destroyed (quick build up on death, slower but still quick fade) it might be pretty awesome to watch.

Devs mentioned it was an artifact from moving to Cryengine 3.4 but I can not find the link right now...
I would suppose they are going to tone it down at some point.

Untill the next patch the only fix for it is a user.cfg addition, the problem is this addition turns off all glows.

They need to get rid of it...forever.

stare at a light bulb for 30 seconds up close and let us know how easy it is to see afterwards

To be honest, I like it!
It's giving me a more "realistic" feeling! You know, a glowing Mech who took a whole load of my guns right in front of me is as bright as the Sun, and when I look into the sun I can't see anything as well.

But I can totally understand why a lot of people don't like it!

I like how you say /thread Kunae, like anyone listens or cares or will stop talking even when you are right.

I was hoping the glass darkening was part of the 'cockpit effects' they promised would be added to long range weapons, and/or a heat penalty. I thought it was intentional.

Of course, Jason! If there are not at least 5 Threads per Hour on a Topic it can not be important and be ignored in total! :P

I like to be sarcastic and prolong problems instead of posting elsewhere and letting them die!

I like to chime in with equally unnecessary posts likely to start more hateposts!

The devs said long range weapons were going to start giving us 'cockpit effects' and then suddenly the glass darkened. I haven't seen any other cockpit effects. One of the two statements is a brush-off, so I want to know which.

It cant be BOTH

'Some weapons will have additional target mech cockpit effects as a balancing factor'
'Cockpit effects are unintended and will be corrected'

It was intentional ... they just went too far with it and when the big "get this patch out NOW and go Open Beta" directive came down ... the pushed it to production. Now, as the "known issues" post says, they're going to fix it.

Humor isn't your thing, right? Man, let's have some fun, that is normally additional indicated by some kind of smileys!

Calm down, relax, have cup of coffee, and if you do not like my posts, ignore it! I don't force anybody to read my posts! (Maybe I should....hmmmmm,.... read my post or I shot you with my (F)atlas....have to think about it! )

Yeah another bug they are working on. They'll tone it down or remove it I suppose.
