Hey Speed is life, or anyone else who might bump into him...

Please share with me how you built your commando
I have all the componets but for life of me, I can not figure out how you did it.

XL 210 Engine
3 SSRM
1 Small laser

Please share your build.

Com 2D

3 Streak SRM 2
XL 195 Engine
Tag
Endo Steel
FerroFibrous

You are a hit and run fighter. You rush in to 270. Lock on and fire srms and hold lock while you circle strafe or evade.
Use Tag if you arent noticed to bring hell down on assault mechs.

3 Streak SRM 2
1 Med laser
XL 210+elite skill=146.1 kph
Ferro Fiber
Endo Steel

I kill more than I get killed. Personally I think it's better than the Jenner Streak that I see all over. I can eat those guys easy.

COM-1B [Merc-Grade Build.]

STD 195, Endo-Steel, CASE
M.Las, x2 S.Las, Streak-2(1t reloads)
2 pts under max armor(head)

Cheap, reliable, and still dangerous when both torsos are gone(126 k/ph base cap).
The free 75% ammo after a match cuts down on the already small repair bill.
Streaks hit lights hard, and laser fire can't be outrun.

COM-3A

2x SSRM2
2x Small Pulse Laser
1t SSRM2 ammo
Standard Engine 150
13 Standard Heat Sinks

Cheap to build, cheap to repair. Fragile though. You might want to get an XL engine and much thicker armor.

COM-3A

2x Streak SRM 2
XL 195 Engine
1x ML
1x MPL
AMS
Endo Steel
FerroFibrous

Top speed over 120kph and good damage.

COM-1B

STD 170 (110kph)
6 Extra heatsinks (12 total)
2x Medium Pulse, 1x Small Pulse
Some extra armor

Its quick and easy to pilot. Pulse in the arms mean you can hit something no matter how crazy the maneuvering is. Repair/Refit fees are laughable. I average 14k in repairs on matches we've lost. I will most likely switch one or both medium pulses for small pulses soon. Then add a SRM, 1T ammo, and more armor.

COM 2D
-Endo-steel
-double heatsinks
-Medium laser
-3 SSRMS with 3 tons of ammo
-XL 195
-Maxed armor
-3 additional heatsinks for infinite alpha strikes.

Wrecks anything.

COM-3A
- 1 SRM6
- 1 SRM4
- 1 Med Laser
- CASE
- 2 tons of SRM Ammo
- 190Std. Reactor
- As many heatsinks as possible

reaches 110 kp/h, deals tons of damage because of the SRMs and is dirtcheap to repair.

Interesting... Unsure if I am sold on the LRM setup but will try it... For some reason I want to think your numbers are off...

I tried a mini-RM-boat during closed beta. was a load of fun. shooting till you get noticed, that run around a bit ( you reach even with the standard engines easily 110+ kp/h ).
I skipped 1 of the 3 LRM 5 though and added one medium laser.
what i do not get though: FF and Endo? Really? that kinda ruins the thaught of the commie being dirt cheap to repair...

My COM-1B got FF and ES.. but it´s still cheap to repair. 37k was my worst so far.

Currently I run a a COM-2D with
1 ML
SRM4
SRM6
Standard Engine 155
FF Armour
2 tons of ammo
1 more headsink then stock variant.
Lacks the streaks to hunt other lights ( expect for Ravens :( ), but packs enough punch to ruin a heavies or assaults back armour.
Might get an XL engine for it sometime , to pack more ammo and one SSRM2 against other lights. Or upgrade to even more regular SRMs to make it an Assault Mech hunter.

I skipped CASE, because any damage bad enough to get my ammo exploding is probably killing me anyway, and I run out of ammo after 20 salvos.. by the time my side torsos go, I am usually out of ammo anyway ( or nearly so).

If you are going to do the COM-2D LRM thing, take tag.

Direct fire the LRM racks while tagging, just stay over 200m away.
Turns the LRMS into longer range streaks.

Also you can toss a 10rack into the torso and then if you lose the two fives with the arm you are still able to zombie at half your loadout. But then you prolly will not have the weight for tag.

I really like two streaks in the missile arm, tag in the laser arm, and LRMS in the torso. I do LRM5 with a stock engine, I imagine you could get that up to a 10 if you go for an XL without increasing stock speed.

At this point I'd say don't even bother with light mechs unless you can afford to buy a better engine than the defaults. If you're not bare minimum pushing 110kph then you're just a medium mech with half the armor and firepower and you'll get shredded.

Just a reminder...LRM5 are a joke vs AMS so it could be a waste of space if you think your going to knock someone.

Gotta agree, without the lagshield light mechs would have to be used in a vastly different fashion.

I disagree. My non-streak Commando runs a simple 100 kph and can evade most fire from heavier mechs. Jenners are sometimes a problem, and so is everything packing lots of SSRMs of course.. but against those even a huge XL engine doesn´t realy help.
Sure I did loose a 1on1 agaisnt a raven .. but it took about half the match ( the real fighting was elsewhere) and the raven was holding together by the sheer will of the pilot.
