Hi, I've got an odd sort of problem.

I have an old saitek x45, and I coppied text for user.cfg in the first post which worked like a charm. I had a bit of a sensitivity issue with my turning controlls which were mapped to the rudder control and wouldn't center, thus i was constantly turning. No big deal though, so i installed the saitek programming software to set the bands on it as the "a" and "d" keys, and which oddly enough when clicking the 'test profile' button gave me the first blue screen I had seen in years and my computer restarted.

Now, where the problem comes in, is that ever since, the user.cfg script no longer works. At all. When i go into the game none of the throttle dirrection fixes, sensitivity fixes, etc work. I tried copying the text again, creating a new user.cfg, deleting the saitek programming software, but nothing changes. The game simply will no longer load my user.cfg changes.

Does anyone have the slightest clue why this might be?

cl_joystick_sensitivity = 0.70
cl_joystick_throttle_range = 0
cl_joystick_invert_throttle = 1
cl_joystick_invert_pitch = 1
;cl_joystick_invert_yaw = 1
i_joystick_buffered = 0

gp_mech_view_look_sensitivity = 0.0090
gp_mech_view_zoom_level1_sensitivity_modifier = 0.2
gp_mech_view_zoom_level2_sensitivity_modifier = 0.3
gp_mech_view_zoom_level3_sensitivity_modifier = 0.35

i_joystick_deadzone = 0.070
cl_joystick_deadzone = 0.070

cl_fov = 77

After 4h of reading and testing I've ended with simillar cfg, because I don't know why - gp settings aint work for me (or rather - they work, but I cant invrease speed of turning. "cl_joystick_gain" does that (form other guide), but I don't feel that in zoom mode there is any difference. I tried let's say extreme values, like lvl1= 0.1, lvl 2=0.9 and there is no difference. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. And I cry for help, beacause zoom sensivility would be VERY useful.

And most of it, I've got X52 (non-PRO) and my SST keeps crashing when I load up MWO. Buttons doesn't work like they should, I need to restart comp to make program start again...

I will try today 2 solutions:

1. Will try to find what is the button number of second trigger on X52 and add it to "actionmap.xml" game setting.
2. Clear out almost all game joy settings to avoid any possible conflict (except pitch,yaw,trottle), and try to program all in SST. Goal is to keep SST from crash.

if succesful I will write about resaults, because I want to just help ppl like me to avoid stress after hours of testing...

Does anyone here know how to add an adjustable deadzone not for a joystick but for a mouse?

I heard there is no xbox 360 support and while I knew I could eBay up some type of thrust I new that deep downt he simple fact was that an xbox 360 would be enough to get into enough of a tangle for myself and a few other smoldering wrecks.

This game is far too complex to use an xbox360 controller as it will get you killed very easily. But you are welcome to try it. :o

I have tried all of these configs and while some of them make the stick a *little* better it's still no comparison to the mouse. As much as I would like to control a mech like I used to, it just doesn't work.

The throttle works fine but I cannot aim to save my life with the stick. And it's not for lack of trying :P

Actually EternalCore I run on a PS3 controller with some emulation software, its pretty close to a 360 controller and I actually run very fine on it. Its common for me to score 300-400 damage a match (over 500 if I do amazingly well) and this is with various variety of mech setups all which includes short range laser setups, long range gauss focus, ER PPC snipe setups. I must admit though it took me a long while to get a gamepad configuration that works well. I must admit though it does not compare well when I play with my friend who regularly out does me with a keyboard and mouse, though its funny when I out perform him once in awhile. It also suffers a lack of buttons, there just isnt enough for everything so in the end I had to cut out some essentials to make room such as the map button, override overheat, opening missile hatches and several others.

Now my question to you, since I am going to get a Logitech extreme 3D real soon, how does it feel when you use it? I am curious how torso twisting and leg turning works on it. Does it feel like there is enough buttons for all functions? Lastly do you feel accurate with it?

OK I am one of these LOMBNT (Lots of Money but no Time) types. I have been messing round with trying to get joy sticks to work but cannot invest the time in trial and error. I beacme a founder beacuse I love this game and wanted to see it suceed - it is getting there but I cannot stand playing with my mouse and keyboard

So if I say screw and buy a new joystick - will the X52 work out of the box ?

Hell No :lol: Sorry.

I made it working after a while... long while. But made heping tips for X52 users here: http://mwomercs.com/...o-profileguide/

But it will cost you anyway 1-2h of lifetime.

I needed practice, and good setup. Hell of the difference made changing those two values in user cfg:

cl_joystick_gain = 13
cl_joystick_sensitivity = 1.25
It makes little joy moves little, and big ones - big. It's not perfect (not like in fly-sims), but it's good enough to get a score similar to the mouse.

My wife got both of us Thrustmaster Hotas X set-ups and your config file works great... except for one thing. The twist on it seems to be reversed in game. When I twist the joystick to the left, the mech's torso turns to the right, and when I twist the joystick to the right, the mech's torso turns to the left. We tried adding the line cl_joystick_invert_twist = with the value first being 1 and then being 0, but neither value fixed the twist problem. Is there a workaround for this?

Okay to really throw a wrench here, but is there anyway way to turn the twist off on a 3d pro? I will mess with everything to set it up on everything else but the twist is throwing me off. I'm using a fang game pad for the walking and wanted the joystick for the aiming but the twist keeps messing me up.

So any help if you can would be nice.

Tired setting the twist up to a keep that is not used in the game(U for me) but still moving the feet too.

I had a similar problem with my x45 yesterday, Kept getting killed because I wasn't using the mouse much, only for missile sniping. Anyways, I figured if I installed SST I could use the mouse hat and not have to let go of the stick to use a mouse.
So I install SST and update the stick driver like it asked me to, and I was fraked, it was like user.cfg was being completely ignored except for invert y and FoV settings.
I spent roughly 15 hours crawling the web when I came across this fix that worked for me:

Quote

Official Saitek Response:

To recalibrate, first unplug the stick.

Go to start/run and type regedit.

The registry editor will have a list of folders on the left hand side. Go down into the following folders in order.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (CURRENT_USER if on VISTA)
System
CurrentControlSet
Control
Media Properties
Private Properties
Direct Input

Inside the Direct Input folder, delete any folder that begins VID_06A3.

Once done, close the editor. Plug the stick back in and move all the axes (including throttle) through their full range of movement 4 times.

Now go to control panel/game controllers/properties to see if everything is ok on the test screen.

Nice little 2 minute fix, wish I saw that first lol.
Hope it works for you.

Sorry to necro this thread a bit, but I'm having an issue trying to get the sensitivity of my joystick setup right.
I am using an x52 pro. I can turn my torso much faster with my mouse than I can with my joystick pushed all the way in either direction. It moves at maybe 1/3-1/2 of my 'mechs full twist speed. I've tried setting the cl_joystick_ sensitivity option to items ranging from .01 to 1.0, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. It's almost like the game thinks my joystick output ranges are a lot higher than they really are.

Anyone else using an x52 Pro know some good values I can put in here to get some fast torso rotation?

I have a Saitek Cyborg 3D USB Gold stick. I am having similar problems. The stick works fine and the buttons are assignable, just the Mech response is WAY too slow when using the stick vs the mouse. Any assistance would appreciated...

I just bought a 360 remote for my pc. After configuring all the button it works great except the torso controls are so sluggish I have to use the legs to aim. is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the torso. someone said to go to cnf file but every time I do it says I need to download an app from the store. I did and when I load the file its blank. I am running windows 8. any help would be very appriated thanks

Looks like EternalCore might be the guy to ask this question... been looking for a solution all day, and I'm betting the answer is it CAN'T be done at this point, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Is there ANY way to divorce the mouse's XY and the joystick's XY from each other? Here's what I mean:

With "free look" engaged, you can look around the cockpit without moving the targeting reticles - however, the joystick and mouse BOTH control moving your POV around. I'm hoping its possible to change this so my mouse will ONLY control my free look POV (and possibly set free look to "on" by default, with the "toggle" button temporarily turning it off) and the joystick will continue to control the arms/torso.

So, I'd like my pilot's head to be able to look around independently of where my joystick is moving the targeting reticles. This can be accomplished in flight simulators... any way to do it here?

@LiquidDivide and cmchinni - have you guys set your cl_joystick_gain value? I believe that value is the one that determines the maximum rate that the joystick will move at.

the may 7 patch screwed up my controls on my xbox controller. Now the throttle up and down is analog or has constant throttle decay with the left analog stick and the zoom is automapped to the B-button.

Any know of a workaround for this?

Ah! Finally the deadzone is gone!!!!! :D

Using my G940 pedals and throttle with mouse... it is dreamy, now with deadzone to minimum, with smoother control... ^_^'
