DHS being nerfed to 1.4 , i dunno bout the rest of you, but it makes all my pulse laser fits real sad. Being that DHS isnt much of any upgrade anymore, I think the cost should be droped in line with endo steel.

I'm not going to be wasting millions of C-Bills going back and forth between single and double 1.4sinks in order to figure out what impact double 1.4sinks will have.

If they lower the price then the change is fine, otherwise, why bother?

I understand the reason for nerfing from 2.0, but down to 1.4 is a joke. A very sick, sad joke.

PGI will monitor DHS' closely and tune this number up or down depending on the telemetry data received from production servers.

Funny how I never see this mentioned in all of the "complaint" threads on DHS... wonder why??

well that explains alot then ok I began to think the devs thoughts were as follows "variants being used as intended? NO! NOT IN MY GAME! LAWN ORNAMENT AWESOMES (wouldnt use dhs anyway stupid brain  ) and GAUSS K2s ONLY!" but if they want to just tune it thats fine XD

How the **** can I vote? The patch hasn't dropped so I can't form an educated opinion based on actual in-game experience.

Well, I guess this will buff my Jenner-D build up by 1.6 heatsinks (currently have 10 SHS in the engine and 4 DHS on the outside) so I'm happy with it. Of course, this will go down once they fix Jump Jets, but I'll worry about that when it happens. So in the end, Jenners aren't really nerfed by this change, though the more heatsinks you put in your mech, the less effective the new system will be compared to the one we have now. I guess single heat sinks won't be rendered obsolete after all.

Becuase its just BS to make you feel better, in that same post they said they tested at 2.0 and it made heat too easy....if they can test that why can't they test how shiaty 1.4 is and come up with a better number? Add to that the fact this patch will be in effect for 2-4 weeks based on how they have been patching, and will get broken twice trying to fix the numbers...just put in a real number to start with.

Math for you is hard like for PGI i guess ?

1.4HS sounds alot less sexy than DHS . But it should be done to avoid fooling newbies

2.0 made heat management irrelevant:

Quote

After fixing the EHS bug, and setting DHS to a canon value of 2.0, we experienced anticipated results. Heat was no longer a concern, increasing DPS exponentially on certain types of mech loadouts.

So they tested some more and found 1.4 to be a good compromise:

Quote

After testing a variety of standard builds, we settled on 1.4. This value maintains the spirit of both DHS and maintains the integrity of MWO's overall gameplay experience.

Don't knock it 'til we tried it.

My DHS Commando will now have what amounts to 14 SHS instead of 20. It's a nerf, but even with the current DHS bug it was already getting to a point where I didn't have to even bother with heat management with a 3xMPL load-out, just keep the trigger depressed.

I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that when they tested the working Double Heat Sinks it was AFTER they fixed the other bug that was reducing heat output of small, medium, large pulse and small pulse lasers.
