I'm an avid streak user. 2xSSRM2's on both my Jenner and Dragon. I think this nerf was fine. I've seen about 5 missiles fail to connect in the 10 games I've played today (firing ~100 missiles/match) and I'm fine with that.

Streak Cat's needed the nerf... this nerf though hurt's more the larger machines that use a few for point defense systems, still need to continue testing but due to the LRM wars at present it's way too risky to run the Jenner. Still testing the Artemis system on my standard engine Hunchie.

That's cos you're using them as they're meant to be used - as a backup weapon not as a boat main weapon. You also have to aim with your other weapons instead of rely on the no skill lock on and fire ssrm.

It's going to be way more fun for the pugs now. Excellent execution on silencing the whiners!

Perhaps if I whine more we can get our game back!

As I said, I don't mind them hitting different sections... It is the complete misses at non moving targets directly in front of me and not thrilled if they are targeting legs/arms...if they hit those on accident at extreme angles or because the enemy twisted...fine, But I don't want to see them actually target them.

In tabletop they tracked arms/legs. They should here too. Like I said, I've only seen 5/~1000 miss and that's still an amazing hit rate to me.

Edit : So if I get this right, by compromise, you mean you want the streaks of last patch back, right?

As long as streaks don't have the accuracy of MW4 missiles I'll be happy.
Those things would do whatever it takes to hit you, including sharp hairpin U-turns.

I've noticed that about 1 out of every 5 vollys of SRM 2's decide to randomly go straight. I've also noticed that half the time, one of the missiles goes straight.

Was the external heat sink requirements for engines thing fixed? Because my double heat sinks don't count as 2 per 1 for the heat sink req for Heat sinks outside the engine. Just curious, I thought it was mentioned it was fixed.

I am happy the streaks were fixed. They were way too accurate before.

But wait ... we have Artemis now ... forget using hills, cliffs, mountains as cover ... one of my teammates said that he was inside those concrete 'pipes' on Forest to 'hide' from LRM fire ... nope ... he died. Your only hope is to get completely inside a tunnel and shut down ... wow ... fun game ...

As for Streaks, if a solid lock is obtained, and *only* if you get a lock, will the Streaks fire and all missiles are supposed to hit the target ... as for exact hit location on the target mech, it's supposed to be random.

Well, as a Streakcat pilot, I honestly don't feel that nerfed. I played this build during CB and it did alright, but during OB so far, I've been popping mechs like candy. It felt overpowered.

Now, I mostly feel like I'm back to CB level. I can still deal a nice chunk of damage to my target, taken out several mechs just fine. Frankly, I love that my missiles sometimes leg people now. That's a death sentence to most.

But I do have two problems with the change:
  • The change was not in the patch notes, either mentioned or detailed. I think it's a huge problem that Piranha is either censoring their patch notes or too lazy to make them complete.
  • The ******** tracking of the missiles. Like I said, I'm fine that they target different parts, but really, why are they missing stationary or slow moving targets at all? And Lights? These are supposed to crunch Lights like cookies and they have trouble hitting them? Considering each streak fires only two missiles, the dumb misses really bother me.

Hey, to the guy claiming you could coolant flush in every MechWarrior game ever made? You're full of crap. That was a MW4 introduction. Never had that capability in any of the MW2 or MW3 games I owned.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The moment I saw this I thought "what a f-ing turdface"
You obviously never Played MW3 or Pirates Moon or know what MSN Zone is.

Not My most constructive Post but MAN HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Well that is LRMs/artemis...different issue, but ya I agree.

Agreed, the problem is with lock they are sometimes missing completely...and if they are intentionally targeting arms/legs now I think that is an over nerf. IMO, they should choose between head, sides, and center...they hit anywhere else it should be an accident due to twising, jump jetting, or extreme angles.

I noticed a weird things with the streaks I was watching one guy shoot them at an afk in the back and while both seemed to track straight one would always sideslip of to the left and miss. He tried it from different angles and distances but still happened to do the same thing. Im not sure if that was a one off issue or something that has become a bug. I only noticed it that one time but keep an eye out and see if its happening to others or yourself

iI agree going with 1.4 setting on DHS is a load of cr--. they bassically made DHS WORTHLESS , as there is NOTHING double about them at all now. I highly disagree with the devs that DHS being at 2x made heat concerns null, cos even when I had a heat efficency of 1.7 i still got shut downs.1.4 value is terrible , not to forget the DHS still take up 3 slots for not much more heat dissipation. and they cost WAAAAY more money than standard heat sinks. I'm a little p--ed with this change to DHS. The should at least dissipate 1.75 X heat to be worth using them. either that or make them only take up two slots NOT 3.

Agreed sir about the usage of less crit slots. That makes sense to me. Hopefully they will do that if they dont reinstate the "2x as efficient".

Streaks hit at random, that's how they're supposed to work, that's how they've always worked in the Table Top, so quit whining like a child about your precious streaks no longer only hitting the torso and or head and thus killing mechs in one or two volleys.

Now yes, Streaks are all supposed to hit or they don't fire, but is it really something that is feasible with the technology at hand? Probably not at the moment, but they still hit the overwhelming majority of the time like they're supposed to. However 6 SSRM2s roughly 24 damage a volley, should not kill someone in one or two volleys like they were doing, especially with doubled armor. So farewell to the OP Streak Cats, hello to the slightly buggy but balanced SSRM 2. Get used to it, it's BETA.

I support the streak change. They were far too accurate before. Requesting that they always target head/CT is absurd.

I personally haven't noticed it, but I wasn't looking for it... BUT, I'm hearing AMS is shooting down streaks much more effectively now...like at 40m they are dropping a fair number of strk2's.

Anyone else seeing this?

If that is tue it compounds the miss issues, and makes this even more of an over nerf.
