After I install MWO, the game asks where it can put the patcher files, I set a custom path, then it says it cannot connect. I've added it to my firewall, tried installing without a custom install path, and it still won't patch.

The message: "An exception has occurred during a webclient request. Would you like to retry?"

Adding to this, I click retry multiple times and it still won't work.

Bump to this couple week old topic because this guy cant play mechwarrior. No one has enough skill to help Ionward? I suggested that he redownload and reinstall, did not work. I suggested for him to use default and custom paths, but neither worked.

I have EXACTLY the same problem whe i tried to install on my better PC, but i already have it installed on my crappy PC and when i hit patch it just sort of sits there telling me patch 1/25 patching but the bar dues not progress. and after a while the launcher crashes.

Seems I'm not alone in this issue.

Problem is with system.cfg. Theres IP to host

-- The omicron online backend server address to connect to. This will be different per branch
oo_backend_server_address = "70.42.29.74"

And that IP host dont work. Need other one.

I was getting a slightly differnt problem. When I ran the game it was still telling me the game was down for maint.

I just cut and pasted my system.cfg to my desktop and ran the game. It recreated the system.cfg file and I'm patching away.

Maybe it will work for you guys...

First - uninstall the game.

Second - Check to make sure the date time setting is correct.

Third - Insure that your computer is fully updated.

Fourth - Download and install Microsoft® fix it http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/. Run this program to correct damaged files, file folders and registry key's

Fifth- Clear all your cache (DNS and Memory) http://www.mydigital...eset-dns-cache/

http://www.addictive...kly-and-easily/

Then restart the down load process.

I run Windows XP for one, and second I don't like to use so many third party applications... I know it's paranoid but that's just how I am. ^^

Sorry that it did not fix the problem. Support is your best bet, sometimes it takes time to track down a problem.
The only other thing I can suggest is to do a system restore to a point before you started having the problem.

Hello Asmodeus,
We didn't find any workaround for this issue. I'll pass this on to the devs so they can solve it. Thanks again for reporting it!
