You do understand what he is talking about right?

Have you seen the Jenner's running around with part of their mech sticking out at a weird angle? That is viewing the Jenner from a 3rd person view, and we are seeing a graphics bug. That is what is being addressed.

.
Ok I saw that, but I thought I was just getting a side effect from these shrooms.... I feel better now.

Nice to see the hot-fix update. My only question is why was no official statement (that i could find) made by any member of the team about the issue until now. I'm not accusing, simply asking why you only announced a fix and said nothing about acknowledging the issue which was posted so much bug reporting was swamped with it.

Unless it was garth's post yesterday (I assumed that was a different bug being dealt with)? The first i heard about this was someone's re post from the live chat the devs were having.

In the end a patch announced and applied withing 48hours is very good indeed, keep up the good work!

Im a fan of reduced damage. Increase lbx damage while we are changing things.

I think overall the decreased damage will be a welcome thing. I just wish they wouldn't make the arcs so steep or the swarms so acurate... getting head shot from behind a huge mountain is rediculous.

Also I think its safe to say that DHS coud be made like .2 more efficient i've been testing them and as is its impossible to get your moneys worth with DHS. SHS just work better since you can cram them in anywhere.

Good job so far I definatly feel like we're starting to see the end of the weapon ballance tunnel

Thanks Garth.

I have not found them as impossible to beat as some seem to be complaining about, but they could be a little crazy at times.

Of course, now you will have the Hero LRMBoaters crying about their precious missiles being nerfed.

Can't win vs the QQ, lol.

I don't think this is the best long term move. LRM damage was balanced to the old spread just fine, the problem we're experiencing now is due to incredibly tight clusters. Loosening up the spread with artemis to be around 0.8x to 0.9x what the non-artemis spread was will give LRM boats about 20-30% better hit ratio, but still spread the damage all over the enemy mech, and still not land too many on the smaller light mechs.

Just flat reducing the damage overall has the effect of making Artemis a must-have upgrade as non-Artemis mechs will have the effectiveness that LRMs had several patches ago when they were at 1.6-1.8, which is to say, not ever worth mounting.

A straight damage reduction might be a sufficient move for now to get the game back into reasonable territory, but thats a number I think should soon be revisited once Artemis starts giving a modest spread reduction instead of the funnel-to-a-pinpoint that its doing now.

Agreed, I do not like the idea that Artemis will become a must have upgrade. I thought The spread & damage of LRM's before the last patch was good and the spread was about right although AMS efficiency needs to be raised to the old levels IMHO.

Hopefully the damage reduction is just a short term measure for the hotfix, because I dont think the damage reduction will fix the longterm issue.

I play LRM Cats almost exclusively and I have to agree with these changes; they were very, very necessary.
And after playing tonight, I can say they're still in a pretty good place... not nerfed to oblivion, not OP.
Though of course, some will disagree.

Well, I think it's a good thing.. even tho I could deal w/ them before, usually.

What I think is funny is I do not see a single famous poster who has created the QQ LRM threads, threatening to quit, come say, " "

THANK YOU!

It's like one of those kiss and make up moments we all knew was coming, but they refuse, instead they'd rather continue to bash

Arc yes... Missiles going thru cover.. yes
LRM damage and Artemis Spread.... I wouldnt have changed yet. I think most of the overwhelming kills from LRMs are due to the arc and lack of usefulness of cover because of it. It is still way too early to judge the Art spread after only a couple of days and with a glaringly obvious reason for higher LRM damage with the arcs.
Just my 2 cents.
I don't drive a missiler btw... but I DO spot for em so I get to see what really happens.

So how much does artimetis tighten the group spread compared to normal LRMs, once this patch drops. I know you said it is being nerfed 5% from its current value, i'm just trying to get an idea if this absurd ammo costs are worth it.

Paul - I know nothing about you, but I really think you and your forum mods need to get a thicker skin. You can't honestly believe that the kind of amazingly obvious bugs getting through to the live game isn't embarrasing do you? Most of the garbage on these forums you have brought on yourself by releasing a game to open beta that really is nowhere close to being ready for it. When I say you - I don't mean you personally, I mean the company you work for.

You can ban me from the forums for speaking my mind, but watching was has unfolded over the past 2-3 months has me absolutely convinced that PGI as a company is in over their heads and really is just taking wild stabs in the dark. I'm sorry if that doesn't sit well with you, but if you look in the mirror and then look at the track record for this games development lately, you surely shouldn't be shocked.

What you said has nothing to do what what he said. Just plain cussing and throwing out insults does nothing for anyone other than provide internet-style entertainment for a troll or to provide relief for someone who can't control their temper. The former isn't welcome anywhere in general and for the latter, those people are better off paying for a psychiatrist to help solve their issues.

Constructive and negative or just polite negative is fine, but ranting out like an attention-hungry 12 year old isn't. I think he was pretty clear on that.

2.0 > 1.7

Will this apply to all LRMS or only Atremis?

Also will they follow the same flight path as regular LRMs just with tigher grouping? (as in a normal rainbow kinda arc).

Please don't go so far the other direction that artemis will not be worth the upgrade.

Reducing damage, increasing spread, and reducing arc?

Artemis is expensive and eats up tonnage on the mech... it has to offer some sort of advantage.

The cost alone is a big enough nerf to using Artemis. lol

I had a repair bill one match of close to 130K and I didn't even have my XL engine installed.

Maybe It's the 1.4double-heatsink of the missile world, expensively useless..?

I imagine LRM damage nerf isn't just Artemis LRMs, but all.

While I say that pre-patch LRM balance wasn't bad, these changes will be welcome because right now it IS LRMwarrior Online. Sorry for anyone who believes otherwise, but I played LRMpult and Brawlerpult and I saw what's going on.

My Artemis C1 with LRM10's brutally murdered everyone when I was commanding a lance with a pair of scouts with TAG. The missiles I was firing were going down with such a tight grouping they had to be touching each other. And that reflected on the targets, of course...

And my K2 Laserpult? Well.... ... despite being real good at dodging (I don't even need AMS unless I'm brawling, usually, and I rarely died to LRM fire), I couldn't help but notice just how brutal LRMs are. From the one time where I took a barrage for like 5 seconds and died, behind a hill that would've stopped missiles normally, to the lack of cockpit jarring (there's little warning other than the incoming missile flash) ... well. LRMs tomorrow will be better. Right now, they're the "I Win" button. Just grab 4 Atlas/Awesomes, slap in Artemis LRM launchers, walk to enemy base, brutally murder anyone that stands in your way. That just isn't fun for anyone involved.

I'll be waiting to see what happens tomorrow.

Nerf all the guided indirect weapons, then nerf them again.

After that nerf them harder.

With any luck LRMs will suck after this patch, no sarcasm there, I'd be a happy pilot.

What about fixing Artemis with regards to LOS? It is NOT supposed to work on indirect fire and it currently does.

Also, you don't necessarily need to nerf LRM damage. The default spread simply needs to be increased so they cover the whole target mech and a small area around it. Not all the missles should hit the target unless it is large, stationary, and in the open.

The damage should be reduced but the more important thing is to force the Artemis "benefit" to work only with direct fire. This will improve gameplay as it will force Artemis LRM spam boats to expose themselves to take advantage of Artemis.

Also, this would make TAG and NARC more relevant for indirect fire so non-Artemis LRM boats still have a use.
