There's two popular methods for setting up triggers for triple AC2's, one uses two triggers and one uses three:

Okay, now the 3 trigger method. You set your primary trigger to all 3 AC2's in group fire. Trigger 2 is one of the single AC2's, and trigger 3 is another single AC2. You hit trigger two and then trigger three quickly, and then you hold down trigger 1. I call it 'kickstarting' the AC2's into their superfast chainfire mode. Notice you're using group fire to do this, but when you stagger the recycle times it works like chainfire. If your heat gets too high, you can hold down trigger 2 and/or trigger 3 instead of firing all 3 at once.

Yeah, I go back and forth on the UAC5, sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate it. My favorite is actually 2x UAC5's, but it wont fit on the Dragon. When I play it for a few rounds I don't mind playing it more. But when I've been playing something else, I never want to go back to it lol. Hopefully they'll fix the jam mechanic someday and make it simply time-based. I don't use scripts, so it takes me 2-3 seconds to clear a jam using both hands.

Believe it or not, 3 AC2's and a UAC5+AC5 do almost the exact same amount of damage per second when firing full speed. But if you take jams into account, it drops the AC5 combo below the AC2 combo.

Hey, thanks for the description! I am also putting together a triple AC2 build on a Hunchback. I'm still saving up the C-bills to complete it, but I was wondering how exactly to set up the triggers once its finished.

Oh, also: For this kind of build, how many tons of ammo should we have at a minimum?

I don't get it, I just shoot the Arm off of those Dragons, then watch them go all kinds of crazy trying to run away...

I actually run a triple AC/2 Cicada.

One thing that isn't mentioned: AC/2s create enough impact that getting shot by one makes your cockpit shake. Getting shot by three in a continuous stream of hate makes your cockpit shake so much you may not be able to see what the hell is going on.

I had an Atlas pilot start screaming obscenities into general chat because he couldn't figure out what was going on and as soon as he learned what was hitting him he began calling me a massive d-bag and all sorts of other stuff.

I have never so wanted to be able to post that trollface image into chat.

I've been running 3x ac/2's on my hunchback for a while, and yeah...the DPS is fantastic. I still get people saying stuff like "ac/2's are bad and you should feel bad!", but I guess that's because they haven't looked at the DPS numbers.

I usually just fire the first 2 on chain fire and then switch to alphas and they seem to cycle pretty good.

Shuts down catapults of pretty much any type almost immediately.

I take 8 tons of ammo, and frequently burn through all of it. With yesterday's patch it runs a little cooler and is very easy to eat all the ammo now, so I'm looking at how to fit a 9th ton in.

The Hunchback is a little harder to keep cool, because it has less tonnage to work with than the Dragon and it's much easier for people to blow off the hunch with all your weapons as opposed to the Dragon's arm.

Because very few people build them right. If you're set up properly, that arm has 40 armor points, and is shaking your cockpit 6 times per second. About once every 30 matches someone manages to blow my arm off before I'm able to core them.

40 Armor Points, so two hits from 4 medium Lasers, plus 2 SSRM-2 from right side should do nicely to start with... I say from the right side, because the SSRM-2 fire at center, so you have to stand right side of Dragon to do that damage, and or run around them... So that's 30+30 (2 Alphas) against 40 armor... good to know, thanks for the info...

Actually, that's one of the main points in the second bullet...

Edit: People hate it, makes everyone except Atlases and Awesomes backpedal if you start shooting them 1 on 1.

Curse you for sharing this build and stratagy..... it was nice not seeing any others on the field with this build :lol:

With that being said, it always makes me smile when an atlas crests a ridge then turn around in full retreat after I open up on em. With the range of AC/2s, this build is an excellent counter to gauss kiddies.

Lol, I have run all of these:

4x ac2 Cicada: Nuts! Sure, you can core one mech, if you go straight at it and just hold down the triggers. But you WILL die :lol: 3x with more ammo is more sustainable.

3 x ac2 Dragon: Fast, tough, but pretty useless once the ammo runs out.

2 x uac5 Catapult: My guncat. Carries 4 x mpl as backup. Gaming mice will let you macro unjam; I am partial to the cyborg RAT line, but mice with macros start ~$35.

Eventually, I plan on putting 2 x lbxac20 and a monster engine on an Atlas...

Like My Centurion CN9-AL that goes 5 kills 2 assists, and over 1000 damage with "NO" LRM or AMS...

The easiest way to throw the maximum number of rounds down range in the shortest amount of time is to simply keep the 3 ac/2's on group fire. Traditionally chain firing can save you some heat...but not when going full dakka mode. The dakka effect looks impressive, but isn't doing anything to help your damage output rate. Staggered fire also would normally cause screenshake, but since they effectively removed screenshake recently.....

You might want a secondary weapon group set to chain fire so that you can throttle down your rate of fire if you start overheating.

I for one have no problem with 3 AC2s being effective.

That's 18 tons of guns plus whatever ammo you have to bring, it SHOULD be useful.

This is how I played my Cent in CBT but it kept giving me Caustic and I overheated a lot.
