What is missing that would help people pronounce the word properly are the two dots over the "a" which is found in the original German spelling of Jäger - the dots are called "umlauts". Spelled without the umlauts, the word should be spelled Jaeger and be pronounced "yay-gur". Any time you see an "a", "o", or "u" with the umlauts, just spell them as "ae", "oe" and "ue" and the pronuciation should be much easier.

the adjective "beautiful" in German is schön or schoen without the umlauts.

ganz einfach!

Since unless I am horribly mistaken, it's German just like Jagermeister (Hunt master) so would assume Jagermech (Hunt Mech) would be pronounced the same way. Also that's the only way I've heard it pronounced by anyone who didn't have a history of just making it up as they went along.

On the surface, tis true. And I would lean toward it, but one is making an assumption, that it IS actual Deutsche, and not an Anglicization of a Germanic word. The question about the lack of umlaut being legit. "Jägermeister".

Not the same as "jagermeister". It could be an oversight, or like many things, the name itself may have genesis in a mispronunciation of the word. I tend not to care either way, TBH.

Are we sure it's not a bird that hunts weaker birds, or a mech that hunts weaker mechs?

If it's 'Yager-mech'... does that mean it should be 'Moves like Yagger'? Someone better go tell Maroon 5 they got their song wrong.

oh... I entertain myself... I really do. ;)

Jagermech is one of those elusive words that have many pronounciations. Much like the work "meme" :)
