Well, I used to call it the Yay-grr-mech, but now I think I have to call it the Mick JaggerMech.

Wow. I've apparently been saying it wrong since MechCommander. o.o Never even occurred to me to pronounce the J as a Y.

lol @ "Yay-Grrr-Mech". I can hear the Budweiser frogs from a few years ago saying it. :D

But that's how I've always pronounced it too. Is it a regional thing (Jagger-Mech in the USA, Jaeger-Mech everywhere else)?

Its indeed German. In a military sense however the word Jäger does not mean only hunter but also overlaps with sniper.

Sorry Fräulein Zeppelin, but I have to correct you. Jäger (mil.) means Skirmisher (Infantry), not sniper.
As for the rest, I didn't know this disgusting bitters is so famous. Where I live it's a drink for old people to promote digestion...

Since unless I am horribly mistaken, it's German just like Jagermeister (Hunt master) so would assume Jagermech (Hunt Mech) would be pronounced the same way. Also that's the only way I've heard it pronounced by anyone who didn't have a history of just making it up as they went along.

I suspect jagermech is leaning towards the other definition of jager referring to a sharpshooter, effectively, snipermech (given it's history as use as an anti-aircraft and LR support mech) though I'm sure huntmech could work just as easily, just makes me think of playing nintendo's duck hunt with a jagermech... XD

also, when confused about the linguistic origin of the mech name, consider who made it, chances are if it's original construction is steiner, it's going to be german in origin, similarly draconis combine is far more likely to be japanese (i.e. whatever the dominant language is for the house/clan)

Is it Jager like Mick Jagger, or Jager like in Jagermeister?

I've never seen an umlaut above the "a" so I've been pronouncing it like Mick Jagger.

Jäger;
While it literally means "hunter" in German, in military contexts Jäger may be regarded as meaning "rifleman".

The word Jager in that title is German, and in German J is typically Y. G's also often become K's in speech but not in this case.(For instance "tag", meaning day, is pronounced "tak") You also stress that ER differently because in German, an E(And A's for that matter) is spoken as if it has an H behind it. This often, but not always, results in you simply swapping the A and E with each other in speech. All in all in English this is basically "yah-gar" Mech. I'm studying Deutsch. This is the simple stuff. It's the proper pronoun use that gets me. My name here btw is German for "Bleeding".

This is true as well and I once had a Hunter friend named "Jägermeister" in WoW. Not many people knew what it meant, but I did. I myself had Bluten for my Rogue. It fit well there and won't so much here. Sadly my preferred name(Drain) was taken. Blutengel was also taken.(I love that band) I didn't want to have to put both my first and last name in a pilot nickname/call sign(Drain Blut) so I just carried over my Rogue's old name.
