It seems that my copy of Windows 7 is not going to allow me to use the Skunk Works program. I'll drudge something out by hand within a couple of days.

Espada EP2-B

Mass: 65 tons
Tech Base: Inner Sphere
Chassis Config: Biped
Rules Level: Tournament Legal
Era: Succession Wars
Tech Rating/Era Availability: E/X-F-E
Production Year: 3049
Cost: 6,039,193 C-Bills
Battle Value: 1,418

Chassis: Skobel 80 Endo-Steel Endo-Steel
Power Plant: Magna 260 Fusion Engine
Walking Speed: 43.2 km/h
Maximum Speed: 64.8 km/h
Jump Jets: None
    Jump Capacity: 0 meters
Armor: Reliant B Standard Armor w/ CASE
Armament:
    1 Newhart ER Large Laser
    1 Lubalin LB 10-X AC
    1 Bical SRM-6
    2 Martel Medium Lasers
    1 Martel Small Laser
Manufacturer: Skobel Mechworks, Blackwell Heavy Industries
    Primary Factory: Caph, Outreach
Communications System: Dalban Micronics
Targeting and Tracking System: Dalban Series K

Overview:
The Espada was a rare BattleMech in its day, no more than 250 having been
produced before production ended in 2724. After Skobel MechWorks' Caph facility
was destroyed by retreating Amaris forces, the design was expected to go
extinct from lack of spare parts. Indeed, only a handful of patched-together
Espadas survived the first and second Succession Wars, and all had lost their
advanced equipment. The only complete example resides in a museum on Hesperus
II.

The discovery of the Helm memory core led to the revival of many lost Star
League designs, and among them was the Espada. A small number of mercenary
outfits have expressed interest in the advanced, yet inexpensive Espada.
Blackwell Heavy Industries of Outreach has filled several orders for the design
since 3037.

Capabilities:
The Espada is a fairly conventional heavy 'Mech, relying mainly on the Lubalin
Ballistics LB-10-X autocannon, for which an ample supply of ammunition is
available. Secondary weapons include a Newhart extended-range large laser,
Bical short-range missile launcher, and Martel medium and small lasers. The
missile ammunition belt is cross-fed from the 'Mech's right side, via an
armored slot, to the left arm-mounted loader, in order to permit all ammunition
magazines to be safely protected.

The Espada is well protected, with twelve tons of armor and a dedicated CASE
pod for its ammunition. Its Endo-Steel frame is a modified, reinforced version
of a medium 'Mech chassis dating from the 26th century.

This reliance on proven, if uninspired components and design concepts makes the
Espada a solid, multipurpose heavy BattleMech with good battlefield endurance
but leaves it with few surprises. Among its weaknesses is the reliance on
compact and inexpensive single-capacity heat sinks, despite a large arsenal of
beam weapons. The pilot is forced to carefully choose which combination of
weapons to employ when engaging a target.

The biggest advantage an Espada pilot can count on is most likely its
unfamiliarity with the enemy. Few living MechWarriors have ever seen an Espada,
let alone fought one. Most present-day target-acquisition software doesn't even
include the Espada's profile.

Variants:
In an effort to address the 'Mech's shortcomings, Blackwell has introduced the
EP2-G model. The upgraded version replaces the fourteen problematic single
heat-sinks with ten double-strength "freezers". The SRM-6 launcher has been
subsequently replaced by a Delta Dart LRM-10, and the medium lasers exchanged
with Diverse Optics Type 20P medium pulse lasers. Although the changes do not
fully address the overheating issues, the modifications made to weapon range
bracketing should avoid MechWarriors blindly firing all weapons in a
close-range engagement.

I was talking specifically about your anti-air spider, because I've always been a proponent of using mechs for that exact purpose in real life, at least as one of their good possible uses. That thread was quite long ago though.

In any case, the other mech I was referring to is your new Atlas in the MWO promotional art in the Media section, the poster boy for the big reveal. The SSW design output is on page 2.

*EDIT: Also, here's a quick Vindicator redesign with an SRM and Endo-Steel twist. I know the Cappies made the VND-3L with its ERPPC in 3053, but maybe think of this as an experimental?
Oh, and can anyone tell me how to make those neat white spaces to put the text in? I'd like it if they could support scrollbars too so these aren't so huge.*

The WW-1D is an experimental Davion design originally laid down in late 3042, with the first prototype being constructed in 3045. The desire of Davion Military Command was to develop a mech able to fill two roles on the battlefield by incorporating the newest of technologies. These roles were as a long range harasser that can spot for artillery/fire support mechs while also providing defense for these units in a jam, and to act as a hunter/killer for enemy missile encampments or tanks.

To achieve these roles, the Wild Weasel mounts two Ultra AC/5s with enough ammo to sustain a high rate of fire from both weapons for long engagements without having to rearm if away from friendly supply lines, adding in CASE protecting it's ammunition from disabling the 'mech.
The long range of the Ultra AC/5s, combined with a TAG and a top speed of over 97 kp/h, help protect the Wild Weasel while it carries on it's mission, backed by 9.5 tons of armor should it run into something it can't outpace/kill.

A few detractor's note it's lack of weapon diversity, and reliance on new and costly technology that might hamper it's widespread production should it prove itself a valuable addition to the armies of the Federated Sun. Time will tell if this machine will live up to it's designation that harkens back to the ancient warbirds of Terran militaries.

The SSW design output is on page 2.

ooooh

if thats the case i might have read it, i'm not sure, It may just be it subconsciously imprinted. or it may be we just think alike.
Either way I'm mainly just a fan of spider-mechs and have a strong dislike for all those flyers that think they own the place.

As for the Atlas specs, love it

Proud to present an alternative to the DRG-5K Grand Dragon:
The MKO-K1 Miko carries more firepower, at the cost of some speed, although that is in some part mitegated by the use of a Supercharger, allowing "her" to briefly match, and even surpass the speed of the DRG-5K.
On a side-note, since its a Miko, she would probably be capable of dealing with a Yūrei (WoB Spectral-series LAM).

Caveman, I love it. I almost didn't recognize the fact that it was actually made for bracket fire, with the ER Large Laser and LB 10-X AC for 10+ range and cutting out the ER Large for everything else at 9 or less range. This think is also great at crits with those SRMs and Cluster rounds. I will say you might not need 3t total ammo for the LB 10-X AC but at the same time, there's really not much else it could go to.

Here's my entry. I pushed up the introduction date a few years for fluff reasons, but it is compliant with the 'no tech from before 3049' mandate.

I had to do this by hand, so I'm hoping that none of my calculations are off (I'd be grateful if someone would double-check it for me).

The Toro was the Taurian Concordat's first BattleMech design. The design was a collaboration
between the three best arms manufacturers in the Concordat. Based on captured Firebees, the first
Toro prototype was produced in 2481. The Toro took to the front lines against the Star League in
the Reunification War, where its comparatively low cost allowed entire battalions to swiftly be
equipped with BattleMechs, but it was not enough to stop the combined might of the Inner Sphere.

The SLDF came to despise the things, not only because they were a pain to fight, but also
because the Toro's existence challenged the traditional social position of the MechWarrior as an
elite class of warrior-nobility. Toros captured during the Reunification War were disposed of in
increasingly inventive ways, culminating with their factories being totally dismantled in 2598 in
a vain attempt to crush Taurian nationalism. Only a single Toro survived, as a non-functional
museum piece.

Following the collapse of the Star League, the Concordat briefly considered resuming
production of the Toro, but, feeling the design had become dated, pragmatically decided to
continue the production of newer, heavier Star League BattleMechs they had been forced to
manufacture during the occupation era. In hindsight, this was, perhaps, not the wisest move. The
Taurian military-industrial complex, still recovering from two centuries of occupation, would have
difficulty producing the sophisticated Star League machines in significant numbers. Meanwhile, the
widespread loss of technology during the Succession Wars would have left a proven BattleMech like
the Toro extremely competitive. Its outdated hardware would have been a point in its favor, being
easier to produce and replace, and its relatively low cost would have been a boon to a Taurian
Defense Force chronically short of hardware.

With the Inner Sphere rapidly recovering Star League technology, the Toro's comeback comes
perhaps too late to have its fullest impact, but nonetheless the TA-A-6 has recently returned to
production at the order of Protector Jeffery Calderon. With the TDF stretched dangerously thin by
the colonization drive of recent decades, the inexpensive Toro is intended to provide some relief
in defending against pirate raids, allowing the heavier machines to be shifted towards the
Concordat's border with the Federated Commonwealth.

As part of his military reforms, the Protector has also ordered the production of a
modernized variant of the Toro: the TR-A-7. Of particular pride on the designers' part, all of the
advanced technology used in the new variant are manufactured within the Concordat. Such upgrades
include replacing the Standard Armor with Ferro-Fibrous (reverse-engineered by the Concordat in
the late 3040s from a Star League Maultier recovered in 3019), the standard PPC with an ER model,
upgrading the cooling system with Star League spec double-strength freezers, and completely
overhauling the electronics suite, including adding a new toy: a kit of Targeting Acquisition
Gear. Besides allowing teams of Toros to better support one another on the battlefield (such as
spotting for indirect LRM fire), scuttlebutt is that the Concordat is deep in negotiations with the
Free Worlds League, attempting to acquire an experimental variety of TAG-guided LRM munition rumored
to be in development.

However, despite all of the improvements, the TR-A-7 is not without its criticisms. In
particular, armor protection is noticeably weaker even with the use of advanced materials,
although the inclusion of CASE has nonetheless improved battlefield survivability somewhat.

Perhaps. I've always hated the way how people like to shoehorn the mech as a modification of some other existing role, being either a "walking tank" or a "walking gunship". I prefer bipeds for their versatility and looks, though.

In Battletech, sub-100 BV unarmed helicopters with C3 slaves says Hi, care for some LRM breakfast?

Mmmhmm, I liked designing the specs for your other furry-killing Atlas (I called it the AS9-FD) too, but I think this one turned out a bit more effective since there were more visible weapons to work with. Not so explodey ammunition everywhere; the Gauss Rifle isn't as bad. If I used an ES structure, I could have stuffed a bit more ammo for the missiles and 2 jump jets...

A little bit of humor thrown in on this one.

Elohim EL-X1

Mass: 50 tons
Tech Base: Inner Sphere
Chassis Config: Biped
Rules Level: Tournament Legal
Era: Succession Wars
Tech Rating/Era Availability: E/X-F-E
Production Year: 3049
Cost: 9,871,500 C-Bills
Battle Value: 1,405

Chassis: Chariot Type I Standard
Power Plant: GM 300 Fusion XL Engine
Walking Speed: 64.8 km/h
Maximum Speed: 97.2 km/h
Jump Jets: HildCo Model 12
    Jump Capacity: 180 meters
Armor: Lexington Ltd. High Grade Ferro-Fibrous
Armament:
1 Poland Main Model A Gauss Rifle
1 Defiance P5S Small Pulse Laser
    1 Beagle Active Probe
    1 Guardian ECM Suite
Manufacturer: Defiance Industries
    Primary Factory: Hesperus II
Communications System: Neil 3000
Targeting and Tracking System: TharHes Ares HM-18

Overview:
An ambitious Project undertaken by Defiance Industries, the Elohim barely made
it past the prototype stage before the project was cancelled and the few
completed machines sold to mercenaries in an attempt to recoup losses.

The Elohim is most notable not for what it is, but for what it would lead to.

Capabilities:
In theory, the Elohim was a radical departure from Lyran combat doctrine. Fast
and poorly armored, it nonetheless paired the powerful Poland Main Model A
Gauss Rifle with what should have been an impressive electronics package.
Should have been.

The Neil communications gear utterly failed to properly integrate the
capabilities of the Guardian ECM. In test exercises the combined systems
consistently sent out IFF codes identifying the mech as an LRM round.

The TharHes Ares battle computer similarly had issues integrating data from the
Beagle Probe, automatically locking on to any object, building or other terrain
feature scanned, and stubbornly refused to switch targets until the probe
system had been shut down.

Electronics difficulties aside, the Elohim had great potential. The machine was
fast, hard-hitting, and possessed an electronics package that specialized in
allowing it to hit and fade (a necessary tactic given the machine's light
armor).

Battle History:
It was reported that the only Elohim that was not stripped for parts was
destroyed in combat during an engagement with the Jade Falcons. Reportedly, the
targeting system and Beagle Probe issues hindered the machine's performance.
The quick-thinking mechwarrior, however, was able to cripple an Uller by using
his gauss rifle to pepper the Uller with shattered chunks of landscape and trip
it with trees felled by the powerful gun. (The mech itself was destroyed
seconds later when a missile salvo from a Koshi detonated the gauss rifle's
capacitors, the unknown pilot is not belied to have survived the engagement.)
To this day, copies of the battle ROMs from the Uller surface on the Clan
Chatterweb every few months, and some trainers have used the footage as an
example of creative thinking under pressure.

Variants:
Many of the subsystems used in the Elohim would be revisited in later machines.
The Neil communications gear would become highly reliable after two more
generations of refinement, the TharHes Ares battle computer would likewise
prove to be of great learning value to the company.

The design philosophy would inspire rival Coventry Metal Works to create the
Hollander, which in turn would lead to the Blitzkrieg.

The Elohim's basic chassis was the most solid aspect of the machine, and would
go on to be reworked for use in the Uziel.

out of the way so medical and Rescue crew could work. So the Mercy was build,
using the new Technology of C.A.S.E. to Help protect the Pilot and Mech from
cost High Engine replacement and having 3 Liquid Tank, Giving the Mech the
option of using the right Liquid for the problem on the spot.
M.G. For Riots (Normally Rubber Bullets, but Most station that have this mech
keep one or two tons of combat ammo around. These in combo with the Fluid Gun
seem to work well on Rioting groups.

Mass: 45 tons
Tech Base: Inner Sphere
Chassis Config: Biped
Rules Level: Era Specific
Era: Succession Wars
Tech Rating/Era Availability: D/X-E-D
Production Year: 3020
Cost: 3,811,470 C-Bills
Battle Value: 922

Chassis: Chariot Type I Standard
Power Plant: Pitban 270 Fusion Engine
Walking Speed: 64.8 km/h
Maximum Speed: 97.2 km/h
Jump Jets: Luxor 2/Q
Jump Capacity: 120 meters
Armor: Starshield Standard Armor
Armament:
1 Donal PPC
Manufacturer: Defiance Industries
Primary Factory: Hesperus II
Communications System: Angst Clear Channel 5
Targeting and Tracking System: Angst Pinpoint

Overview:
The KRN-1S was designed at the request of the AFFC for a "Fast, reasonably
armored medium-weight battlemech, capable of hit-and-fade maneuvers against heavier targets." Defiance
Industries KRN-1S Kronos was chosen, and put into limited production in 3020.

Capabilities:
The KRN-1S is a fairly mobile 45-ton Battlemech, it's Pitban 270 fusion engine
gives it a top speed of 97.2 Km/h, and it's four Luxor 2/Q jump jets give it a
respectable 120m jump capacity. This maneuverability, combined with it's Donal
PPC, allows the Kronos to deal heavy-hits to enemy 'Mechs, while being able to
avoid the majority of return fire. The Kronos' 7 tons of Starshield armor allow
it to survive any hits a pilot is unable to avoid.

Overview:
The 70-ton CLT-3A Celt is best described as an Enforcer on steroids. The Celt
carries the same mid-range hitting power of it's little brother, an AC/10 and
large laser, but carries an additional ton of autocannon ammunition compared to
the Enforcer, and has a trio of medium lasers for closer range engagements, and
a massive 13-tons of armor.

Capabilities:
The Celt's sole purpose is simple, hold the line. While many 'Mechs of a
similar size can outgun the Celt, it's 13-tons of armor allow it to take a
considerable amount of punishment, more than even some Assault 'Mechs. When
properly supported, a group of Celts can be formidable oposition for any
assault force. However, pilots must be careful, as the Celt's 16 heat sinks can
be quickly overcome during high-intensity combat.

Any good 'Mech should have b*tchin' artwork. So, some modestly b*tchin' artwork for the Espada then.
