Unlocking achievements is a HUGE part of every bloody game I play now(it's annoying) but it appears to be a VERY successful method of keeping people playing.

How about introducing a range of 'Achievements' that can be unlocked by new players and will provide a once off C-bill bonus? The amount given per achievement doesn't have to be much and could be used to encourage new players to play in a manner conducive to teamwork and interaction.

First 50 targets spotted and locked for LRMs...
First Blood...
First win while using the Command interface to direct a battle...
First 50 Kill Assists...
Etc...

There is a huge range of possibilities here and all of them can activly encourage a new player to work with their team AND get them closer to that Golden Fleece, the first Mech.

Thoughts? Feedback? Negative Implications?

I'm not arguing for or against your point, as I'm indifferent.

What I do have to point out is that if you want to make suggestions, you should be posting them in the suggestions section.

Posting a suggestion here makes it harder for the devs to track. Essentially making them waste more time that could be spent working on the game.

Agreed. While it feels a little consoley and/or CoD to me,it would be a nice idea to help out the newbies and free players get over that first hump and into the "real" game so to speak.+1 for you sir.

At the risk of knee-jerk reactions CoD style bonuses have been proven to work very well in numerous games, the beauty of this is if you pump up the rewards enough hard working players not only earn more money (less grind is good, no matter how you cut it) and lets you reduce the static payout just for showing up so it'll nerf suicide grinding.

Spotting
First strike
Focus firing
Attacking from the back of an enemy
A steadily ticking bonus for capping
Shooting down missiles not being aimed at you
Shooting enemies that are attacking other team mates above other targets

There are literally hundreds of things you could reward players for and thus subtly train them to work more as a team through these payouts.

As long as the on screen reporting for the action isn't stupidly big and flashy like a lot of those games. The small ticker in the upper left hand corner is fine.FIRST BLOOD popping up in the middile of my screen would be no beuno.

But we could have the quake style announcer and everything! I mean hell, Cat pilots are pretty much already playing a cover shooter, sitting in one space and clicking at red blips. They'd love nozoom cockpit shot bonuses and kill cams.

I don't think PGI's intention is to make you work hard and pay you for it. I think they want you to actually pay them for playing their game.

I would love achievements. I mean yes they are pointless but at least they prolong the replay value of games. They can also be disturbing in some games though, especially those heavy focused on single player, Alan Wake comes to mind. Since MWO is not then I would welcome it!

Maybe have certain achievements marked on the side of the hull as well in decals. How many LRM users wouldn't want a chalk board style tally on the side of their rocket pod counting the kills? You could even make it a MC sink, pay to track a variable of your choice on the side of your mech as a bit of vanity.

I love this idea. Would help newbies a ton. Plus, it's be an easy way to give them some starting cash like all the other posts about that, with an added bonus of achieveables!
