So the other 3 people in your premade were standing around with their thumbs in their backsides? Either that or they weren't very good.
I was thinkng we were well balanced since we were winning but your idiotic comment could work too. Being a good team member isnt dominating the damage chart. If we are all relatively even then we were all focusing targets down not sitting with our thumbs up our backsides. But you would probably recognize the symptoms of that greater than myself. But thanks for your well thought out and intelligent remarks, i will file them with the **** I flushed this morning.
Yeah OP is right LRM's did get nerfed too hard. Pre-patch I was pulling 800-1000 damage with 3-4 kills and assists. Now I only get around 750 and 2-3 kills and 4-6 assists

According to folks that is a massive nerf and since they aren't OP they won't use them until they get back to OP status again, oh I mean "competitive".
You missile boat Captians need to stop sobbing, and realize that your loadout is a "SUPPORT" setup, and not a map dominator, an overwhelming majority "AGREED" that missile boats were OP, they were ruining matches, and almost everyone stopped building or running brawlers... In short, they sucked, and were easy mode for scrubs...!!!
.
I see more kills spread out amongst a team now, and have seen more "good game", and "WOW, what a match", with results closer, and actual enjoyment expressed from both "Vets/Founders" and "NEWCOMERS" in MWO (game chat from both teams) than I have seen in a long time since closed beta.. This is a good thing...
.
LRMs are a "SUPPORT" weapon, and they are now perfectly (EDIT: maybe not perfectly) tuned into that role... Now it takes (3) missiles boats to assist the team, and "NOT" 2 missile boats to dominate a match... And don't try to sell me anything different, I ran with a friend, just (2) of us to test this theory, and we were competing to see who got to 1000+ damage (FIRST), and who got the most kills before the "HOTFIX", and we consistantly did more than half, to half the kills on our team testing LRMs out right before the "HOTFIX", and the results/numbers do not lie..
.
The verdict is in, and actual shoot-outs between brawler Mechs are happening again, the "VETS" and the "NEWCOMERS" to MWO are having a great time, and I have seen more praise for MWO during matches than I have seen since closed Beta started... PGI will have it figured out, and as the game stands right now, I haven't seen any "I'M LEAVING" posts from "VETS" or "NEWCOMERS" for DAYS, and that my friends is a record..!!!

Here's the thing - "With all the ways to break lock"... You already forget that being able to hit a target outside your line of sight is a tremendous benefit. A Gauss Rifle, a PPC or a (ER) Large Laser don't even get to shoot at someone out of sight. You don't see him, you can't hurt him.
I can shoot people that can't lock on with my long range mech (not LRM mech) by using the big zoom module... Granted, I need LOS to do this, but I don't need a lock to pop them hard at a distance comparable to LRMs.

I can hit and do damage with Gauss cannons farther than LRMs

Paper gets the nerf bat: Paper: we've been hobbled!
Rock: no you're just fine!
Scissors: Yeesh... paper got cut to ribbons...
Rock (Heavy/Assault brawlers.)
Paper (Missile boats/long range direct)
Scissors (Light harassers)
Lights pop up to harass an assualt, but the assualts just crush them by turning and firing.
LRM mechs hide and try to take out heavyier mechs, but get destroyed by sneaky light mechs that manage to got to the LRM mech because LRMs can't hit the lights.
Assualts pop up out in the open, and then walk to your capture point because LRMs can't deal enough damage to discourage one to slow down...
Don't think anyone's asking for an "I win" weapon. Catapult drivers just want a reason to carry around a weapon system that weighs 14 tons + 6 tons for ammo.
It sure seems so and I can´t see the reason why cata divers shouldnt all of a sudden.
To the OP, I understand what you are saying. I think a slight tweak back up would be useful. The largest problem was the flight path not the damage boost. Also LRM's are still deadly when you have a partner to tag for you.
To be honest i'd rather threads whining LRMs aren't powerful enough that get ignored because LRMs now take some skill to use than having the front page of general be nothing but threads saying LRMs are too powerful and the playerbase taking a nosedive.
At some point the missile boat captains will have to learn that PGI made a mistake - and they fixed that mistake. The same way they increased heat generation across the board for energy weapons, you're going to have to deal with the fact LRMs aren't the iWIN 4S they were after the Artemis patch hit.
And i've yet to see an LRM boat captain show me any evidence that hitting with your LRMs consistently doesn't do more DPS than every other weapon in the game.
Maybe that's because it's mathematically impossible.
But even if you DID sit down and theorycraft yourself into a coma, you're still going to have to deal with the fact that LRMs are now BACK in the role they were SUPPOSED to be in, after a brief stint as Flavor of the Day. And that everything has returned to normal, and you can all calm down and try carrying a couple of backup weapons.

I carried 4 - the maximum allowed by my hardpoints. But seeing as 1/3rd of my tonnage was devoted to that LRM thing, backup weapons are just that and no more.
While we've had some Assault Boat drivers chiming in on this thread, most of whom seem to be on your side because of course they're doing fine - their OP builds stuffing more LRM launchers into Assault class mech chassis' than they were ever designed to carry are now dealing to sort of damage a normal LRM dedicated mech chassis should do (Catapults, Trebuchets, Archers, 2xLRM15 Awesomes) - THIS THREAD is about how CATAPULTS are no longer viable as LRM mechs in MWO.
After the LRM nerf (which I agree with) my main ride, the Founder's C1, now sports 2x SRM6+Artemis, 2x LL, 2x ML. It's a much more fun build, and I'm glad the LRM nerf got me out of spamming them every match. Now all my catapult configs are brawlers - I die a lot more, have a lot more fun, and have much lower re-arm costs to boot.
I'm happy with mine... but my Catapult has an Artemis and 7 tons of ammo. Shooting at an Atlas does suck but with the 1 to 1 Assault ratio I don't seem them very often. They are also extremely expensive so Founder players are almost the only ones using them at all. Remember, if the enemy has an Assault, so do you. If they have 3, so do you. They have a 1:1 ratio here. This means you don't need to be able to destroy them... you just need to be able to hide behind your own and destroy anything else. My LRM stacked Catapult ravages Mediums and Heavies. There are LOTS of Centurions and Hunchbacks riding around BTW since those are the most affordable options ATM and LRMs rip them to shreds. With all the newest upgrades and no more 8 pug vs 8 premade BS, I dusted off my LRM boat and went from losing 4/5 games to winning half or more. If you want my advice... buy an Artemis. You might not think it'll mean much at first but it makes a HUGE difference. My missiles are much faster to get from A to B and more accurate.

Why does everyone consistently refer to a 48 hour period that 0 of the people wanting LRM tweaks back up care about? Most of us are advocating for the way they were on day 1 Open Beta, not during that acknowledged bug.

Stop beating a dead horse. I never said I wanted LRMs back to what they were when they were bugged for 48 hours. That horse is dead. Bury it and move on to another counter argument. I want LRM mechs to be competative. Currently, they are not.

There have been plenty of counter arguments.
Main one being you are doing it wrong, adjust your playstyle, play with skill, succeed.
Many people have not actually referred to that 48 hours and you and others have mistakenly labelled them as doing so...a few have but really that just highlighted how much damage they could actually do, which is enough to stifle gameplay. You may enjoy punishing people with your finger of god. Plenty of people have now realised they enjoy the game more that lrms are back to 1-2 a match and not 4-6....
