An alternative approach to River City. Screw the Citadel. Screw NASCAR. Assuming the enemy pushes towards the Citadel as per the usual Brain-Off-Turn-Left approach to MWO, this is a stupidly strong position. The enemy is forced into a relatively narrow area of approach, and you can dig in and tear them to pieces as they attempt to get to you. It is, however, fairly weak against a flank from Upper City into the starport.

What won this match was not tech. It was an excellent location to set up shop in and coordination, with the team listening to me to establish an overall plan of action and actively sharing information with one another. This is why using the terrain is so damned important. If there's a chokepoint, you want to use it against the enemy. If there is a way to increase the enemies' heat generation, utilize it.

It literally did not matter that the first wave of IS mechs had at least 50% more tonnage than us. As they came in through a narrow chokepoint, they spiked their heat due to the lava river, and were forced to either stay below and get picked off, or charge up the ramp and get a laser colonoscopy. This would have worked just as well against us had they had the foresight to take that area and bunker up.

All we had to do was let them know where we were, and lure them in.
