This Is Why Trial Mechs, And The Game In General, Is Broken

Trial mechs are not supposed to be good, they get the job done but you shouldn't expect to pull off any tricks like what you are describing.

But there is an answer; count on your team, join a group that has it together, get on TS make some friends and start winning matches. You'll still get punked by a med or light in that atlas, but you can coordinate with your buddies to save your butt.
The new player experience is pretty tough here, but in a way that encourages new players to join organized factions so that they stand a chance. I've been jennerr**ed a few times in heavies and assault; it's made me more conservative and far more eager to count on my teammates for cover.
Join a group and you'll win more often and have much more fun as you grind your way towards your own mech, I certainly am.
While I agree with your sentiment, and the idea that something is a little rotten in the treatment of new players in this game, I think there's not quiet enough cheese to go with your whine.

And that translates it to being PGI's fault how? He just got rolled hit by someone with a more manuverable mech who saw him out in the open with no teammates around, and took advantage of it. That hunch had a lot better heat efficientcy than the AS7-K most likely, course a lot of mechs has a better heat efficientcy than that thing. Which has the WORST HEAT EFFICIENTCY OUT OF THE CURRENT TRIAL MECHS. It's 0.91 heat efficientcy is a killer. What did you expect will happen. As others mention, that particular varient is a long range hitter more than anything (though I've made the mistake of brawling with it as well). To make a trial mech successful, you have to play it to its strengths, not yours. His post said nothing of how a game mechanic or anything about the game is broken, just told a story and seemed to have expected an assault mech (no matter the role its armament fulfills) to be the very best. I love assault mechs, but they're not the best mech there is and requires support.
Lonestar1771 has it right. And so does Christophermx4. At OP, pinpoint a game mechanic that is "broken" in your opinion, give evidence of why you think so, and discuss it. Not share a story of you getting blasted at a time when you were vulnerable and the other pilot knew it and took advantage of it. Sometimes, you can't choose the engagment and you just get stomped by someone better. Happened to me plenty of times, but I'm not complaining about it and blaming whatever game mechanic you're blaming.
Oh, and the OP isn't new. He was here in closed beta. He should have enough experience by now to know what he's doing.

And how this escaped the original poster's expert inspection of the trial mech of his choice is beyond me.

CIcada also has half his armor stripped. I think they have maybe 18 pts of armor a leg. I think even the cockpit armor is partially stripped.

The point is that heat in trial mechs is terrible. The weapons loadout to heat sinks do not work at all. This seems pretty obvious to me.
What i got from the OP post was that it wasn't just that the heat was bad, but that it was not fun to just wait an wait and wait for heat to go down. This is a design emchnic but i kind of agree that high heat should be more of a danger than shut down or wait for a long time.
In a faster mech at high heat i can bug out. Big slow mechs have a double whammy o
Zvero didnt put his argument very well as using anecdotes without backing up with some other more logical assessment is bound to get people crying L2P - which is unhelpful and anyone doing it should just stop. Take apart the argument not just pour scorn on the arguer.

The size and speed of the assault mechs should be their weakness, but is it fair that on trial mechs everything about the Atlas seems like a punishment except your initial few volleys?
even doing what sounds like a very BT thing to do to ignore your ERLL in a brawl and use a lighter less heat intensive weapon to cause damage while your mech dissipates heat did not work because the dissipation was so slow that it boosted the heat well beyond the heat sinks capacity for just a few smaller weapons.
Now customisation means we can build the mechs that work to the mechanics. However, why do the mechanics punish stock BT mechs so much when they are suppose to be viable?
I think the way heat works is messed up more than the trial mechs are messed up.
Lower heat capacity and faster heat dissipation would allow these mechs to be viable and massive alpha customs less viable. Throw in added heat problems running high heat such as slwoing you mech and more dangerous ammo explosions etc would give more intersting heat mechanics and allow trial mechs to feel more viable IMO

I would call wow fans rabid. Same with a few FF fans, throw another bad title out I am sure I can find another two surviving/thriving ones.
You died, if you had purchased that version of the awesome would you not have died if a hunchy came out and your heat was maxed? I would love to know how.

Knowing your average 140km/h jenner I KNOW thats not true. When I see your mech in a game I immediately facepalm. Because you'll be dead in a minute and I'll have to deal with the jenner.

But it is, I'm just not an *****. I usually just do a bit of scouting then start helping out brawls.
Out of all the trial mechs, I rarely die with a commando.
If you have such a problem with that, then perhaps you should sharpen your skills instead of blaming your stupid deaths on the mechs.

I mean, currently, though I play rather little thanks to crap internet, I'm grinding with trial mechs, so I can eventually afford my own ride. And you know what? I usually give as good as I get in those things, and even kills enemies that have tricked-out mechs.
And I'm not even that good a pilot.
