Get Endo Steel first and basically forget about FF.
You may have to click off and back on to your mech to see the changes.

It shows up as floating dynamic structural slots and that is it. You will only notice some weight being freed up.

Be sure you left enough free Crit Slots to equip it. If you didn't, the game removes the Ferro even though you bought it. It will put it back I believe if you free up the necessary slots.

See this post for the best advice. You get more tonnage for ENDO than for Ferro. So use/try it first... always.

It's useless and doesn't serve a purpose since endo does basically what it does more efficiently for the same critical cost.

You will usually only see FF on light mechs.
Clan FF is a different story. it only takes 7 crit spaces (Clan ES is only 7 as well), so many more mechs could use cES+cFF.

You should always get Endo Steel first and Ferro almost never unless you really need that extra bit more weight.

I think it's safe to say that FF armor is useless. The number of builds that actually benefit from it is very small.
