Are you people insane?

If your QQing about that boxy, unwieldy, wack-looking Scottsman-wannabe mech gets the Stalker bumped until the NEXT assault is put into the game, I'm going to go on a ******* tirade. The Stalker is the coolest mech in the game! Chickenwalkers RULE - unlike their Gundam-wannabe counterparts. We've already got enough of those humaforms for each weight class; I personally demand that they stick to the schedule and give us the back-canted-leg mobile Assault weapons platform in December.

And fie on all of you for suggesting otherwise.

No one has to worry about that....stalker is nearly done, they won't scrap it now. If they started on the Highlander today it would probably still be 2-3 months before we got it in game....Just like how they started the phract back in august but we just now got it.

"Q: 60%...closer to 70% (if you count half the "I don't care votes"), voted in favor of prioritizing the Highlander ahead of other mechs...especially over the flea. Any chance this will happen? Seem like good marketing to get the most favored mechs in game ASAP. [Onyx Rain]
A: Without being too specific, our priorities for release aren't the same as the order we released the concept art in. [Garth]"

Well, sounds like we might have a shot at the Highlander or some other mech coming out in a different order then they were announced. A very cryptic but interesting answer.

Well good news....

They've broken the announced mech same as released mech pattern like Garth hinted at.

Crossing fingers that the Highlander gets similar treatment!!!!

So, given that the Stalker is confirmed first (YAY, screw jump jets), is this thread now about getting the Highlander before the Flea? I find it highly amusing you could think that was ever not the plan. The Flea announcement was swapped for it as a gag because people leaked the PC Gamer image and everyone was sure it would be the Highlander. So now they are going to come out with the Highlander in exactly the place it was to be expected all along, as the fourth Assault Mech, after the fourth Heavy Mech, before the fifth Light Mech. This thread is a joke.

First this was never about gettiing the stalker bumped back. Up till now they have released mechs in the order they were announced. It was assumed the stalker being the next mech announced/schedualed was to far along in development to be pushed back since the cataphract took almost 3 months from the time they started on it to actually getting it in game.

You may be absolutely right about that.....But the goal of the thread wasn't just about the prioritizing the Highlander it was also about letting PGI know that less then 1/4 of people were happy with the announced/released order so far....Of course they've broken that pattern now, so that is all up in the air.

Lastly the thread served to let PGI know that a large majority of the people would like to see the Highlander ASAP, or at least before some of the other mechs that were announced before it.... Mission accomplished. Whether it will actually result in the Highlander getting in game any sooner then it would have, I don't know...but we spoke, we were heard....and that is all we can do. It is up to the Devs now.

Obviously not me, and I don't think it is the best choice for the overall commercial viability of the game....but I am kinda happy that the spider is being released surprisingly soon. I really don't like armless chicken legged mechs and we've got plenty of those in game...and even one for the assault fanboys with the stalker soon. But...Finally a humanoid jj capable light mech. I just hope they beef up the hard points some...2 lasers isn't much.

Well looks like the Treb is the February mech.... Would have of course preferred the Highlander (we are up to 63% want it before other mechs), but the Treb is a medium and some variants have JJ, and that fills a gap in the medium class and the general lack of mediums so not to bad. Plus I might actually pilot the treb and spider so at least that will hold me over for awhile.....Hope Highlander is next!

no chance they follow your suggestion, but I for one like it. until they fix their netcode and let light mechs go at the speeds they're supposed to be able to go at, light mechs will always be half assed. the lighter the mech, the more lacking in *** proportions they will be. the entire point of a flea / commander is to be able to run around at 196+ kmph. not at max jenner speed while having crappier weapons and armor.

what are you smoking because i want some. The flea's top speed was 97.2 km/h and with MASC 129 km/h. A far cry from 196+.

The Commando's top speed was 97 km/h

The Jenner was 118 Km/h

I think PGI has given them more speed to make them more survivable as compared with the table top game.

Bump in support.

I'd rather have the Highlander or the Orion before the Flea.

Unless they fix jump jets they're something other than an unalterable parabolic arc, I would prefer to wait for my Highlander. Right now, I would just be infuriated by the relative uselessness of its jump jets.

I would prefer the Flea and push it out to people instead of the trial mechs.

Unfortunately a Flea is not very viable unless they fix the MG's to be a viable ballistic weapon for say the FLE-15 or FLE-19.

ANY 20-30 tonner is gonna ned a VIABLE ballistic weapon that they have the ability to mount more than 1 of.

I'm eagerly anticipating the flea. I don't pilot assaults, and I've never felt any particular devotion to the Northwind Highlanders, so I'm not too excited about the the jumping square mini-atlas, although it does fill a needed role as an assault with a bit of mobility.

I think the flea is going to be everything the Spider wasn't. Faster, able to carry more weapons, smaller profile, and they jump as well. If they make an ECM variant, I think we'll never see a Spider again. The flea is a good candidate for ECM, as only one of the variants listed on sarna carries missiles (and it's a rocket launcher 10)
