Which is actually another thing I see people do all the time - fire missiles above 1000m or below 180m. They don't work at that range - you're just wasting ammo.

Again Post a video and prove me wrong

Add armor and ams then because you have way too little armor. I played some in a missile mech the other day and it takes around 8 salvos from 3 artemis 4 lrm 15. That's 360 missiles at 1.7 damage for 612 damage total on an afk Jenner in the open.

It has never been a support weapon. Jamie wolfs archer was not a support mech. The mad cat is not a support mech.

Jamie Wolfs Archer is definitely a support mech. Dropping his lasers and adding 2 SRMs doesnt make it a brawler. He used it to remain out of upclose combat so he could maintain Command and Control of his unit. The Archer is generally grouped in Fire Support lances with other LRM mechs like Cats and Trebuchets etc. The MadCat/Timberwolf is a balanced mech, softens targets up at long range with LRMs then engages with an awesome array of Lasers at LL and ML range.

How about you post a video of someone shooting 1700 missiles and not doing any damage? I think you're the troll here.

There are so many ways to use LRMs wrong. That doesn't mean they are ineffective or useless.

How does your issue/opinion about LRM's have anything to do with having a problem with the forums?

Um its a fact that LRMs don't work beyond 1000 or below 180, the fact that you call a video to prove it, and think LRMs are too weak is pretty scary.

I don't use LRMs, they are slightly too weak, but not at the point that some people say (its the end of the world). I use TAG every single game, even if I don't know if there is an LRMer on the team, and TAG or not, I always appreciate one player, at least with an LRM 20, or the occasional LRM 50+, because it makes a huge difference to the team, and the scouts. Honestly, I could consider it a PUG problem, as when I play with my friends, and one is a dedicated LRMer or even that LRM 20, he does just fine damage, and is really helpful. Scouts with PUGs are rarely good at scouting, not because they suck, but because its hard to relay tactical info at 120KPH+ by typing.

If you're shooting 1700 LRMs and not killing one target, then something you're doing is wrong, that should have enough potential damage to kill one target easily, and don't think bigger is better. LRM 20's can be easier to fit, and easier to Artemis, but LRM 5s are tighter from the get go, and you can chain fire them better. I think its amazing that, when compared to their teammates, LRMer get similar damage, and do helpful things, and still think they are far too weak. You're playing on tilt.

A madcat also has large & medium lasers.

Until we get back to 8 man groups using tag, artemis & narc and 2-3 coordinated lrm boats, a lot of this discussion is worthless.

From what I've notices since the hotfix is that I can expend all 8tons of my ammo on any one Target and not kill it. Artemis I've notices is actually making the misses hit LESS than my non Artemis setup. At the last patch yes the flight path was bad by it seams the Artemis was actually doing more. then after the hotfix when the reset the flightpath and reduced the damage per missile. they have become useless. I'm being hopeful they get then worked out soon.

I guess you are doing something wrong - I've been running my Centurion fire support mech in our 4-man groups with 1*LRM15 and 1*LRM10 rack (both with Artemis), 900 missiles, and a TAG. Typical damage is in the 400-500 range, but I usually have ammo left over. That is very much on a par with the heavier brawlers in the group.

Some maps are better than others of course, due to availability of cover - but don't just fire blind... get into good positions and self-TAG your targets. Kills are still hard to come by, but that is not the job of a fire support mech.

Even with spotters running tag I'm hardly doing anything even when I hadce a direct los running 4 lrm15. I don't do anywhere near what I used to.

Right, but "not what you used to" is not the same as totally ineffective.

I do think they overnerfed them, but LRMs are not useless.

I still run my dual LRM20 Atlas and consistently get 400 damage. I am relegated to a support role now instead of the God of Long Range Death like was pre-patch. But that was the point of the nerf, to make a support weapon a support weapon.

+1 agreed I couldnt of said it better myself.
Listen up missle boat players you had your God like missle's taken away its only fitting that you go through a bit of withdrawl and complain about it. fact is your now on a level playing field with everyone else its time to DEAL WITH IT

Could this be another product of that wonderful thing called ping? ]

I highly doubt its ping. I get 90 FPS and have a ping of 70 to 100. Also the cat was standing out in the middle of the water, no one was near it but me.

Also i disagree with each of you that says they are fire support and arent designed to get kills. If thats the case why doesnt everyone just run brawlers and completely ignore the annoyance of hoping for a steady lock? if the LRM's arent designed to kill a mech and just do pidly little damage then you might as well switch to an atlas running with a single medium lazer, you'll probably do better.

All I can add to this is that I took the Trial Catapult out for a spin.

Had line of sight to another Catapult sitting in the open. Emptied all my LRM15 ammo on that one target. Zapped a few mechs with the 4 medium lasers.

Ended the match doing 54 damage... How is that even possible?

So you dumped two tons of LRMs - that's 12 salvos - on someone in the open? And they did almost nothing? Seems odd. First of all, I've never known someone to stand in the open for that long.

Could be AMS. Could be bad spread. You did have proper lock, right?

I run a Jenner, and I'm a proper scout and tagger, and the LRMs are doing great. They may be a little weak, but these horror stories have no water. You have to try them in their element, like every weapon, no weapon can mindlessly kill something at any range. LRMs are closest though.

If you really like it, then join a team, I'm sure tons of them are looking for some fire support, and they can enhance your abilities with them via magic teamwork.

I played a lot of games yesterday with my "Crusader" catapult c4 (2xLRM15/w Artemis,2xSSRM2,2xMed laser) and i smashed down commandos with 2-4 LRM salvos, doing approx 300 dmg per match and 2 kills/6assists per match.
We played in 4-man lance thought.
You can say LRMs are uselss.
And I can say l2p brah!

I have yet to try out LRM's, but this is what I've experienced from taking fire.

Match I had last weekend in River City, was approaching the enemy shipyard-base from the hillside on the at the edge of the map. Crested the hill, cata (can't remember which variant but probably the trial one with two LRM 15's probably) that was sitting near the edge of the water spotted me.

Anyway, he let loose both his LRM launchers but he was partially behind a crane so it soaked up almost all of one side of the launchers. He stood there and got off 3 launches before I melted his noggin' (had an ER LL and reg PPC). My damage readout showed yellow around upper half of my mech like barely touching gold color; so I guess maybe 5-10% damage on each of the armor locations? Was not expecting so little from sitting still myself with no AMS.

So I trotted down the hill and started into the street with the low buildings on one side and I think the tankers (or something close to their height) on the other side. LRM hunchie jogs out of their base and fires from other end of the street. Can't remember why I did, but I think something blocked me or I was too far away to get to an adjacent street infront of me for cover.

I went into reverse and curved behind some cover, taking up two flights from the hunchie. I looked again at my damage readout: was in the orange-red on my torsos!

I can't remember if that hunchie was bone stock or not, but shesh he had to be emptying at least a LRM 20 at me! You know, the kind of "OUCH!" you would expect when a cloud of missles come at you! (and no they were not SRMs!)

I won't say LRM's are "overpowered" or "nerfed", but I definitely will say that something hinky is going on with their damage registering!

"Use to" being when? not during the weeks when LRM's were overpowered?

did they move at all? I have seen zero damage being reported if the player had disconnected (ie: shooting at a ghost).

i was just in a match where three people hit a Gausscat with a combined set of LRM 10 and LRM 15. Missiles rained down and hit the cat in the center and side torso for about a minute, each one hitting and doing less damage then a single use of my Small Laser. Why cant you guys find a happy medium where LRM actually DO SOMETHING without being broken as opposed to doing nothing?

Seriously....to those of you who read this and are contemplating trying the Artemis System DO NOT BOTHER, ITS NOT WORTH THE SPACE until the devs find a way to make the missiles work properly without being OP because as is right now they wont even take out a Jenner without a lot of luck. I can literally sit in the middle of someones volley in my jenner without AMS and not have to move because it doesnt do enough damage to make me care.

Read my lips:

LRM IS A SUPPORT WEAPON

Let me enlarge that for you:

a SUPPORT weapon

I'm riding LRM boat Atlas when I'm on a losing streak, jut to chill out and spam some missiles out back.
85% of matches I end up with 850+ DMG around 50% of them with more than 1k DMG.

Though I'm almost not getting any kills, constatnly my assists flow around 6-8, so I'm a big help (e.g support) to a team.
But I am not the killer. Damage I deal helps my meds to take out enemy mechs with ease.

So TL;DR
LRMs are fine.
