It is not the fault of your enemy that you dislike having to defend. That is your choice. Just as exploiting that fact (it wouldn't get used as often if it didn't work regularly) is the other teams choice. Noting works all the time however otherwise everyone would do that.
If you refuse to use a readily available tactic that is your call. People will continue to use that to their advantage. No amount of petulant whining will change that.
Dislike a tactic? Counter it.

Any gamemode that discourages combat in a mechwarrior game is a pretty terrible gamemode as I see it, particularly since that's the strength of the engine right now.

meh i find the arrogance of the pubstomper worse.. they know they are goin out like a pack of 8 wolves into a heard of headless chickens..
They know very well that they are hugely overpowered in a full 2 lance team.. In fact that why theyd do it.. so that they could go on to get 15:1 K/D ratios..... but now they've been put on thier knees a bit..
yet they can come in here and whine like they are going to be getting it back in it's previous iteration.. they try and defend being premade and being able to run amok like a gang of school yard bullies with comments like "How dare we have friends"..
heck even the 4 man lance can be devastating to another team.. I know this from dropping into the shorthand side of a 6 vs 8 mismatch. said in chat Oh this dont look good plz dont say ur premade over there. over team chat came.. we have a group of 4 here we should be able put up a fight... working together with that lance we won.. i think our team lost one mech and the other team went down 8 to 1....
Will they get thier 8 man teams back yes.. but they wont be able to go pubstomping.. It will be fighting other premade teams..
This interim system in place is just a bit of a stopgap measure to curb the pubstomping... notice how theres less complaints about pubstomping.. but more complaints disguised about not being able to...
so i have no love for the 8 man premades that were.. they can get what i decide to throw out.. and when they get them back they'll have to do some work for thier wins..

Why were LRMs 'OP'? Because of 4 man pre-made. Now, buy a stock Dragon or Centurion with it's LRM 10. That weapon is a worthless weapon unless they have TAG or has someone in their lance with TAG or Artemis. To overcome terrible pugs that are not smart enough to stick with the group or are terrible players, pre-mades were forced to not depend on them. They can't tell you where the enemy is, they can't be depended to watch an area or fire intelligently on a target, so you over-compensate that with 3 Missile boats and a spotter or pray the Pug can hit 'R'. The Tuesday the patch went into effect, I had a LRM boat with 50 LRMs, but no Tag or Artemis. You know how much damage I was doing? 2-3% of their health per volley, at 2 damage a missile. Holy jumping Pogo-sticks Batman! LRMs were OPed! But if someone Tagged them, well, the damage went up. But naked, they were /fine/. Now? I scrapped the mech. Thanks.
There are a ton of pugs out there who are good players, there are just way more who are bad players, specially with the start of Open Beta. And that is not fair to anyone.

Let's be generous and do 50k / 8 = 6,25k per mech. The 5/7,5k you get for capping isn't that bad.
What ever gets me the win faster is a good way. Faster matches = more moeny. I sure as hell won't be bothered to hunt down some lone jenner the last 3 minutes of the match when I could do guaranteed victory with capping.

Anyhow this is a porblem only because the whole post match rewards are chosen stupidly in their weighting.
Doing useful things towards winning should be valued higher than the pure fact of your team winning or losing.
That said: The pure bonus for winning/losing needs to be lowered while the boni for kills, dmg, capping and salvage need to be put higher.
Will bad pilots that constantly lose or do no damage lose money that way? Certainly yes. And I say rightly so. This is a team game. If you fail to be of use you do not deserve to profit from the effort your 7 teammates had to put in in order to win despite being effectively put at a 1 man down disadvantage by your poor performance.

I was, because it gave more money for the whole team in WoT, not to mention it also gave repair bills to every enemy which was good too. Because in WoT, it's you, 14 people who generally don't shoot you and 15 people who generally do shoot you. You want to be the only guy who profits.

Feel free to unistall or defend/return to your base.
I prefer to kill everyone in a match, but at the same time I use the base capture as a tactical option to split enemy forces and/or put the enemy in a situation to make a choice and force the combat. Victory usually goes to the aggressor in MWO, learn to use that or don't I could care less.

You give off so much attitude and brag so much I can only believe that the opposite you present is happening. You wade out into the middle of the field with no targets available. Then you stomp around a bit before you look up and notice the big red flashy sign, and then cry yourself to sleep at how "Noobs" are cheating because they are supposed to line up and let you shoot them.
