I couldn't find a thread about this, so I guess it's a kind of new idea here.
As many of the fanbase love the roleplay side of Battletech, my suggestion goes this way. I don't know which pilot skills will be integrated, but my wild guess is they will depict some technical skills giving you slight advantages in maybe weapon handling, heat regulation or enhance sensors.
My idea is to reward players with an animation of their skills. I give an example: You earned the skill "enhanced radar range 5%". In the startup phase now the player would see his mechwarrior tap twice on the radar screen, manipulate some buttons and dials, then tap at the radar screen again. It could be like a two second animation.
I bet people would always be looking forward for the next upgrade of it, or for different animations, would simply get an optical reward for what they achieved. It would boost the atmosphere way up, while the player can better associate with the mechwarrior he's controlling.
In the same breath I suggest to make it really hard to get pilot skills, to nourish the feeling of uniqueness and reward.

Sincerely

P.S.: Maybe it's something for later, after release, I know it needs time to code the animations.

This is actually a nice idea, although you have to be careful that the animations aren't so long players will get sick of them.

Some kind of aesthetic indication of what modules you have equipped would be pretty cool.

since i'm retired, and have lots of time to play, heres hoping if they did decide to impliment something like this that they keep it short. i would hate to have 3 minutes of bonus animation in the start up sequence

It could be something as simple as the Pilot plugging the actual Module(s) into the Console, and have a once blank monitor come to life and have Betty state "Upgrade X Active!"... or "All Upgrades Online!" :D

Great idea, and feedback. Maybe when you first get the upgrade to your skill you see the animation, but after it plays once, you just get the "all upgrades online and activated" voice message.

No, you want something specific to play every time.

It could be very simple. An accuracy module could have some fiddly hud elements that load into the crosshair and disappear, for example. You know the stuff, all concentric circles and lights. It's a match-start reminder of what you have installed, so it needs to be short, relevant and unique.

Perhaps a longer pilot plug-in animation could run the first match after you've reconfigured a module, to remind you that something's changed.

Using the monitor ideas again, it could actually list the modules, Load them, and fill a check box with a Green check mark indicating that they are fully functional.

Given that most Mechs won't have large #'s of modules, it would just be a short but "Informative" video clip.

Betty can chime in at the end to add that special "giggle" she is so well known to cause even hardened MechWarriors.

some kinda of simple animation saying you earned an upgrade, like a clip of say new orders from HQ saying your cleared for new tech, with it saying what tech specifically. OR something fun to watch.

I actually like Regarial Galatan's idea. A ComStar message could be received in your mech and give you the option to view the message whenever you feel like it. Sort of like voicemail for mechs hehe! When you play the message, it is displayed on the center HUD display. I would suggest allowing a player to "blink" out of combat to view their message, only re-entering when they close the message. And just so that this doesn't end up being abused to give a tactical advantage, once you re-enter combat mode, there should be a timer for say 5 minutes preventing you from "blinking" out again.

to your idea? I can't support something like this. It shouldn't even be considered by someone. Oh crap, these guys are PPCing me to dust *blink out*
This is ridiculous. Please think about it some time.

i myself never really considered the blink out thing during a fight atleast. after a match or after you die, sure, not in the middle of a fight.

Hehe, I meant Long Draw, not you. You made a suggestion, and he turned it into... that.

A notification upon "leveling up" in your upper screen, clickable in combat BUT YOU NEVER LEAVE THE COMBAT AREA (if you're dumb enough to stop in the middle of the fight to watch your new video, you get dusted).

A new Information Warfare or Communications jamming module could make people THINK they have a message from Comstar or their unit commander about an upgrade, but when they click on it, a video of Paul pops in full screen screaming "TROLLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL" for 15 seconds.

I like eye candy, as long as it doesn't negatively impact funcionality.
