Nice sleek design, good scouting equipment, just needs a better turn of speed, and I've got mechanics drooling over the chance to upgrade that engine.

The nose is gonna look beaky no matter what ya do with it. The redesign looks more mechanical and more military. I say good job FD!

For a number of the people who 'don't like' the design, it's not about not liking the design in and of itself, it's about the fact that the mech is suppose to be a Raven and the design departs from part of what they liked about the Raven (and to an extent also the raven-inspired Men Shen and its large curves, although that wont be around for quite a while.)

I suspect they removed the raven's curves and they're only going to stay true to curves on clan mechs.

The old raven was ugly as hell, the new one reminds me of a locust. I might actually pilot one if it wasn't so 'popular', Its not a bad chassis (assuming the entry level model is the RVN-2X)

Looks like a dog's head on chicken legs and the choice of Davion colors was extremely poor.

Don't care if the Davion Sunburst was meant as a joke or simply pure ignorance...bad call.

Give it a proper "beak" and it's good.

The Art right? Not to be a negative nelly, but yet, the nose doesn't do it for me. First time I've been meh about the art. Looks more like a Leafwhacker. Maybe its the angle.

Its not much different than the below, and I think it has everything to do with curves vs blockyness. I'll still drive it with joy, maybe it will grow on me.

I personally love it. It takes the odd (though striking) curves of the original and replaces them with angles that give it a much more industrial/military look that fits with the common design theme of the other mechs. I for one really appreciate the new art direction that FD is taking with the redesigns and this Raven is a superb example of it.

When I first saw it I immediately identified it as the Raven, so to my senses it retains enough of the original, and yet I delighted at the updated angles and geometry of the torso.

As for everyone crying about Davion colors, give it a rest. They have already said that all the mechs will be available to all the players so it is logical for a Raven in this game to have such colors. In addition it is only a paint job done by a singel artist. Don't like it? break out PS and change it! I'm not FD and I don't know why he went to Davion colors but I don't much care what faction colors it has on it, it is still a pretty mech.

All it really needs is the proper "raven" beak the mech is named after. The Rest is fine.

No.

To be more constructive, as I said, it seems more like a Bushwacker kind of millitary design, not like our old beloved Raven. It is longer than traffic congestion and is too sharp. I understand they need to keep the models at the smallest possible ammount of edges/faces, but if it overtakes over the design, then something is wrong. Imagine a Mad Cat, looking like a Men Shen with twin rocket pods. It does the job, but it takes away the mech feeling.

Also, no more trolling in form of bad camo on a mech. I mean, put in a Mauler and paint it in FRR, or Clan Ghost Bear colours. :D

Regarding the nose,

Maybe its because the Raven in the picture is clearly HUGE and not proportionate to its actual size. In the pic, its every bit as big as the Dragon. If it was reduced down to its normal size, maybe the nose wouldn't look so out of place.

Im a big fan of FD's general approach to make all mechs look realistically military so I voted yes for liking it because its better than the classic design. My guess is that FD sketched many ideas and variations as he as for all the mechs and this one made the most sense.
