As for the controller itself; I think the description "Concept Controller" is being lost on a lot of people.

This was never a real product. They simple presented the concept to see if there was enough interest in the product, before deciding to commit to farther development. It may or may not ever become real.

It is very much like all the "Concept" cars that are presented at auto shows, but never make it to market.

@Roland (or more accurately, Roland's signature)

The mech in black fled across the desert, and the LRM-slinger followed (?)

You will have the OPTION of 3rd person. I plan on staying with 1st person myself.

If your opponent is using 3rd person then you are going to lose.

I have gotten alot of laughs about this post so far!! KEEP IT UP !!! I meen really the asumptions are AWSOME!!... one assumes he speeks for 90% of an assumed 5% of players lol Others actually assume he sent the letter in the first place. LOL you try and discredit the OP while assuming he actually sent any letter at all. LOVE IT !! Well I assume this post was to try and get PGI's attention on an assumed issue that hasnt been defined by PGI. I also assume that Razer could care less about a letter on a prototype controller assuming a letter was sent.

Lets assume more!! I Assume that 3rd person mode will be a camera mode only with no cross hairs and no ability to mouse around to look behind you. I assume the zoom in and out will be minimal and mearly a way to see cool paint jobs on our mechs. I'm also assuming you will have less than a 90 degree frontal view from slightly above and behind the top of the mech. How do you like those assumptions?

GREAT thread !! i love kneejerk reactions to off hand comments about possabilitys of the future of the FRANCHISE lol I assume you listened to the podcast? or am i assuming too much? lol

Only speaking for myself in this reply, where is there an assumption in Ozz speaking for the community when they clearly wrote in their own words? Fact is what Ozz wrote.

What's wrong with assuming Ozz sent the letter? Don't find the humor in it.

When one states they are speaking on and I quote( not an assumption quote but an actual factual quote ), "on the behalf of the Mechwarrior Online Community", it lends itself to the letter/post being discredited.

Or am I still assuming things?

The only way I would be ok with 3rd person is if it was limited to trial mech only noobie matches.

The actual interview with PGI's Russ had him suggesting separate modes for third person and first person. It's not as if the other person has the option for third person when you're only playing first person. If the third person mode had lower rewards and was clearly a practice mode, then I don't see an issue.

There are legitimate complaints that it will "split the community", but many are still under the impression that they want to give the third person mode option to everyone.

I'm pretty sure they also said that if third person were implemented that it wouldn't be allowed for community warfare or corp battles.

Because i am the only one to go further, and because i have to guts to ask questions and answers to businesses, i do not have any backings? Wrong my friend, i ask questions on behalf of 90% of us all who said NO to 3rd person and we demand answers now on what PGI will finally do with this game, once and for all. Period.

It takes no guts to write a letter. And you're writing on behalf of 90% of less then 1% of the community. As I said in the other thread, if you don't like 3rd person don't use it. I see no need for it but if PGI wants to do it, more power to them.

What is the big fuss about 3rd person anyways? They said in the podcast that it would be used to SHOW/TRAIN people to understand the mechanics of the torso twist and that`s all. It will probably only be used in a training mode or something. Also, it`s just an idea, let them implement it and judge afterwords. 3rd person is not set in stone, this is beta, things change... (look at the beta for natural selection 2 just to know how much a beta can change a game). And people... please stop winning at ideas being implemented. I mean, sure we get an unfinished product, but at least we have a say in the design decisions unlike most other games.

I do not speak for the community at large.
I spoke for, and read the entire letter, 90% of US who said NO to 3rd person view in MWO.
Unless you're saying we're all nut cases, they voted NO, and NO means NO.

So because 90% of the community (surveyed) is against a 3rd person option, you're saying , through commutation, that 90% of the community is no longer going to buy a Razer Artemis concept device? That's the leap of logic you made. Then you said you were speaking for a community.

That is why you are getting lit up like a protesting tibetan monk. Flame on!

I'll be shocked if the person reading your "letter that represents the MWO community" even reads past the first sentence of the second paragraph..

Umm...so it's still a concept controller that wasn't actually designed yet. You completely missed his point.

It has been designed and its fully functional as we speak.
Sadly, it seems something went wrong during the production/marketing phase.
Will probably have an answer on that from Razer today.

My personal Letter To Razer.

bla bla bla whinefest bla bla bla

Here's my personal letter to Razer:

You guys have an awesome joystick design (just the stick). As an avid flight sim enthusiast who for the past 10 years has replaced many joysticks I would like to request you sell the joystick as stand-alone. Force feedback? Sheer awesomeness. Not since MS Sidewinder FF2 of old has this been seen in a good looking stick.

Heck, if you can integrate the keypad with a dual-throttle stick you fellas could give Thrustmaster and other venerable flight sim J-stick makers a real run for their money.

Yes, as a prototype unit. There has been no firm commitment to production.

The best part of this thread is how hardly anyone states the obvious: even if razer did release the artemis, joystick control in this game is and always will be a bad joke, just from the very barebones of how the game was made. Which for a mechwarrior game is just pathetic.

wrong wrong wrong worng man!
where the hell do you get your infos from?
Razer always intended to turn the Artemis into full production.
I followed the Artemis since day 1, i subscribed to the newsletter and infos by mail on it, like many others i submitted my feedbacks on it for the last 5 months.

Production is also as we speak on its way. Something went wrong and it has been delayed.
But as a proof, you can watch this video from razer at E3, saying they intend to launch it into full finished product as a Piranha/Razer collaboration.

Here for you buddy. Fast forward to 3:30

My guess is the delay comes form it costing to bleeding much to produce for anyone to seriously buy it...

And i hate to break it to you but nothing outside of a prototype unit have ever been seen afaik. The most i have seen imgae sof is two set up next to each other.
