So. There has been a lot of fire over the recent(read surprising) news of 3rd person view.

A lot of people have mentioned that this is simply a band-aid at best and not addressing the real issue of no Tutorial and/or Practice Grounds available for new pilots, old pilots and even premades(companies, clan, ect) to practice and test in.

This has also led to people voicing concerns that PGI has "lost their direction" with MWO and/or "no longer cares about the hard core players".

So lets get some organized feed back and see what PGI does with it.

Do you want to see actual Tutorial and Practice arenas added to the game? Not some tossed together videos on YouTube. But ACTUAL areas that players can load into and run tutorials, practice rounds, test builds, ect.

Why the hell would anyone vote no? I mean, other than to spite you for stating the obvious.

A mw4 mercs-style tutorial would be good. I see no reason for a practice ground, though.

The need for practice grounds is so that units who want to actually have a training session doesn't screw up the fun factor for others. We might be taking 16 trial mechs into a match for the sole purposes having a training session. If we miss, which happens often it's not a lot of fun for us or the opponent team to watch 8 mechs suicide so we can try again. Not to mention we would prefer to drop with more than 16 when we have the turnout.

Creating this going to be pretty code intensive, so I can understand why, when they are concentrating on getting the core game stable and fleshed out.

At this point, especially because we are in open beta we really need a better new player experience.
In some ways I wish they would concentrate on this stuff and bug fixes instead of new content.

A practice/test arena would be fantastic for many reasons.
I had transparent texture issue and the only way I could see if a change fixed it was by joining a PUG.

Or a single player empty arena on the client side would be great and use no server resources.

Id love to have a place to test my builds....a bot match where your the only real player in a 6v6 match on a map of my choise. You ern ZERO everything in this bot match and also repairs and ammo cost you nothing as well.If there is no ernings there is nothing to exploit...the whole reason for this is to test a build....

Yes New accounts should be forced to play a training match with triggered events to teach new players how to play.....one for weight class....If it is a choise to skip them on new accounts then people will and act like a noob in the game futher aiding to usless pug teams

I voted yes. This game desperately needs a way to ease new players into their cockpit and allow them to play around with the controls and movement before throwing them into a match to die and get yelled at in chat. It doesn't have to be extensive, a simple flat arena with a couple of hulks to shoot at would suffice for now.

Practice ground would also be useful for testing heat efficiency of new builds.

That was my sentiment as well. Even if someone is a Lone Wolf, you can get use out of a practice/testing arena for things like heat, firing rates when mixing weapon types, ect...

Myself and many others 3 - 6 months ago suggested this in closed beta and it was never touched on by the devs. We the community recognized the need for a tutorial early on for new players to promote a positive experience and in stead PGI got the opposite and many new players quit due to the learning curve.

In my view PGI should've had a team working on this instead they are being lazy and falling to the pressure of lazy people that don't want to learn and working on 3rd person camera view that was never supposed to be in the game.

The new players need a tutorial/practice ground regardless of if we want it or not.

If we want a good new player experience and a well-polished AAA game, we NEED these options. Without them, the game will always be lacking and not the best it can be. Personally, I do not need the tutorial as I have played so many MW games, but it is invaluable for new players. I would, however, use the practice arena to try out new builds without subjecting my poor teammates to their possible horribleness.

Yes and yes!
New players can get used to the game without loosing fun and material.

I would really appreciate a practice ground to test builds and tactics.

There already is a video tutorial, but I watched it and didn't think it would be very helpful to someone who is new to the game.

I definitely would like to be able to test-fire my weapons before a game though.
