Perhaps they never thought of farming it out, who knows. Sometimes people miss obvious choices, it happens everyday.

You act as if they got to keep all of that 5 million and just throw it in the bank. A healthy chunk of that 5 million probably went to the publisher to start repayment on their investment. Then more of it probably went into various other areas. 5 million isn't actually a lot of money for creating a video game this day and age.

Well the thread had two points for me...

A ) I feel better knowing I am not the only one seein ridiculous results like this OP.
B ) Now I don't have to search forums seeing if this isn't already top priority, I assumed it was so but now confirmed.

I see, but if this is a part of the known issues thread... couldn't he have posted there?
Also, with all due respect. Its not thanks to the OP that you know its top priority, its stickjock that gave you that info.

And I'd like too add, the title of the thread looks more like an offensive attack on PGI then an actual question.

If rifter would have simply said "I'm having some problems with lag, and I have for awhile. Does anyone know if this is a priority?" then it would have been worlds better and his points would have been much clearer.

My only idea would be farm it out, contract more programmers. They have 5 mil from founders alone they have some money to invest in programming of thats what it takes to get the job done.

And honestly since the netcode in DNF is total crap i think waiting for PGI to fix it themselves might take years, so farming it out might be a good idea.

The problem with them farming this out is that they want people in PGI to figure it out. That's what they are paying them for, to figure it out. However, I don't see the problem with them hiring MORE people to work on the DEV team as programmers to help accelerate this process. There certainly is a lot of work to go around there so them hiring more people will help. However, if you look on PGI's website, they're already looking for more help. They just want to bring in quality people to help with this is all.

Sure they have same netcode issues, but theres this thing we call lag, it's been around since internet day one 'n I really think you should get over a couple missed shots ' that weren't missed shots ' here and there..

well I haven't heard of any speak of launching new server hubs in asia or europe. Not to mention if players will be grouped by region or latency. Without any of that, the discussion on "gimmie better netcode" is moot.

Perhaps, but if i have learned anything about the MWO forums its that your title needs to be a troll title to draw people in and generate discussion or the thread gets buried and no one reads/responds to it, even if you are bringing up valid points, kinda sad but it seems to be how the MWO forum operates.

This would indeed help.

And now that i think about this it could be my issue.

Im in North america but work nights so spend most of my time playing MWO in the middle of the night with people from Europe and Australia with 200-300ms pings. Could be why i seem to notice the crap netcode more than most people.

Of course, but people are assuming everyone follows the rules on forums...why do forums have to keep posting rules and stickies? Well because time and again people don't read, follow, the rules etc. Forums are a horrible way to find information, but online it's one of the best forms we have. It's never going to change, so a lazy way to find information without having to search is just open the first 10 posts or so, they will likely cover the most relevant topics.

I am not condoning the behavior, but to ***** or complain about the behavior is as usless as spitting in the wind.

So not to derail the thread, but even threads that are repetative can have useful information, useful is really just a matter of perspective.

Yes please.

I have seen at least 1 lag-shielded cn9-d. It's a little out of hand.

If you had ever played DNF i dont think you would have much hope in PGI figuring it out any time soon(This is not a slam against PGI, you cant always be awesome at all aspects of programming, i realize this, this is why farming it out might be for the best)

Rifter, please don't lower yourself to that level. If people want to scream and yell at the top of there lounges, let them. But don't join them. It makes you look exactly like them regardless of the content you post. And honestly, we both know you're better then that.

As for aussies and EU people joining us. Probably?

Il be honest, my location isn't actually that far from the main servers. So I don't really see much lag outside of specific users. And not really that often. I don't deny its an issue though, even from here theirs still some quite noticeable netcode quirks poping up visually over here. Atlas slowly walking to space anyone?

Here's an idea. Why don't you go back to school and learn how to write net code. You could get hired by PGI and help them out, and you'd realize that programming is as much art as science. I'm no expert, but I've dabbled with it and it's a real pain going over countless lines of code to find that one little piece of data that's messing things up. It's NOT easy.

You are correct in i am kinda sinking to their level, but my point was valid and discussion so far has been very beneficial to me. I had honestly never thought about the fact that i might be noticing it more than others simply because i tend to play alot with people that have high pings, untill this thread.
