Are you sure? reading these forums makes me want to be blind sometimes

I know. The only reason I'm here is that my connection is currently too slow to play the game. I get some horrible pings sometimes.

In case nobody has poined this out yet, but PGI has been looking for a senior network engineer(IIRC, actual job title may be slightly different) since closed beta, with a requirement of 7 or more years of experience. That's about 6 months or so.

Now...that's a pretty long period isn't it? Surely it can't be that hard to hire a senior network engineer....

The problem is apparently that PGI refuses to pay the applicant a salary until their "probationary period" is over. For someone with more than 7 years of experience.

Gee, i wonder why they can't fill that position?

Makes you wonder where the $5 million founders money is going if they are not using it to hire a network engineer....

THEY SHOULD BE GRATEFUL TO WORK ON MWO, I WOULD WORK FOR FREE AND REWRITE THEIR CODE. MAYBE THEY WILL PAY IN BOBBLE HEADS!!

If this is true then PGI is actively trying NOT to fix the netcode.

You cant honestly expect a 7 year programming veteran to work for free if only for a few weeks to prove himself. If he has 7 years+ of experience just check his references and pay the damn guy to fix the netcode already.

If What jun said in post # 63 Of this thread is correct they are going about it in the completely wrong manner.

I for one would like a source on this. In fact, you're not allowed to even do that by Canadian Labor Laws. So where exactly did you come up with this information? Or are you just being slanderous?

You obviously skipped anything beyond the first post and the last couple... so you missed MY post...

Known Issues

Hit Detection/Network Movement Code

We are rolling back some networking code fixes. This will address many of the hit box issues currently in the live environment. The rollback does not fix the problem entirely, and we are working hard on improving the overall experience vs performance. This is a long term engineering task and a top priority internally.

so... it IS a #1 priority...

I hit him dead center torso with a 65 damage alpha.

It registered ZERO damage.

WTF

You had a bad dice roll.

Why haven't we found an alternative to fossil fuels yet? Honestly, scientists need to change up their priority! Stop fooling around with solving problems like climate change, curing diseases, etc. until we get this problem solved! Clearly the reason it hasn't happened YEARS ago is that all our scientists have been wasting time on things like inventing Pez, discovering what that stuff in Stretch Armstrong was supposed to be, or creating useless inventions like the computer. Lame. Obviously this shows how out of touch they are and how little they care. What a total slap in the face.

Stop being stupid and do the big boy science that I have no idea how to do myself, but I can cite as trivial due to my wealth of anecdotal evidence.

And how do you know they aren't?
Patch is next week, surely you could have waited a few more days before posting this thread?

Also, everyone knows the netcode needs work. Including the devs. So whats the point of this thread exactly if everyone already knows?

If your only goal is to bug the devs like a little kid bugging his parents while his doing the pee dance so he can go to the bathroom then you're just wasting everyones time here.

Not everyone knows it, check the threads complaining about jenners. Jenner pilots will let you know its just the awesome sauce they rubbed all over their bodies before going into combat that allows them to 'dodge' everything.

Also, if he's doing the pee dance you should take him to the bathroom, making him hold it could cause permanent damage to his bladder :)

To be honest OP and those taking a similar stance to his/hers, I am starting to find your mindsets idiotic. Below this thread is a big yellow button saying "We're Hiring". If you click it and follow the links you will see that they are wanting to hirer network software engineers and someone to oversee the team of 'netcoders'. Until that banner and job advertisements go, don't expect a proper fix anytime soon. Threads such as this are just asinine. You should take the time to think and do a little research first.

EDIT: Jun, how can what you say be true? As far as I know that is not how probationary periods work.

They're not looking for a network engineer... they're looking for a programmer who specializes in networking-coding. Huge, tremendous difference.

Really? What's the difference?

In any case, if you go to the actual application, it says "Software Engineer - Lead Network Programmer". What now?!

A Network Engineer primarily works with networking hardware, and the configuration, planning and support of such.

A "Software Engineer - Lead Network Programmer" works in "C" variants, and other programming languages to craft the packet interplay between both internal servers and clients across the internet.

While it's helpful to have some knowledge of each other's fields, they are completely different specialties, and typically attract completely different personalities.
