Two suggestions. When they disconnect they can try to get back into the match and can keep playing. They can be shot during this time and their mech may as well be afk. Second suggestion is that even if they disconnect it will still count as a death if their mech is killed in the game (and a kill for the killing player).

It does still count as a death. Pulling the plug would do nothing... which is why I'm not sure if/why people do it. Your mech is still destroyed you still have to repair it...

If it counts as my kills and component destruction and salvage and xp, then I'm fine with it. If they still get the repair bill and death, then I'm fine with it. In that case I'd thank them for not getting in that final alpha before they bit it. But I don't /know/ if that is the case. You are certain?

When 3+ people focus fire me I crash to desktop about 25% of the time. This ends up being 5+ matches a day. This is not intentional on my part, this is just a buggy client that can't handle all the missiles/projectiles/screen shake/smoke at once. It is extremely frustrating, because it by definition occurs during a dire situation.
You want to report them because you don't get the kill for your KDR, I understand that. But the fault lies with PGI, not the player.

Do you get the same $ and XP if the disconnect before they die versus dying while connected to the game?

I think the only time you get augmented XP or $ is if you disconnect while doing no damage, otherwise you get full.

I've had this happen to me numerous times in previous patches, usually when getting focus fired by several enemy mechs and the game crashes to desktop. I think it's because of the extra load put on the computer rendering all the lasers and missiles.

They do it...
1. to pad their kdr
2. to increase the elo when it comes into effect
3. to deny the other player his kill
You do not get a kill for a dc so you lose both points and c-bills
