Had a guy exit the match 1/2 second before he was killed. I know this is bad sportsmanship but is it considered cheating and worthy of reporting him as a cheater?

Report him and let the mods decide.

We REALLY need a recent players list and an in game report function.

Two suggestions. When they disconnect they can try to get back into the match and can keep playing. They can be shot during this time and their mech may as well be afk. Second suggestion is that even if they disconnect it will still count as a death if their mech is killed in the game (and a kill for the killing player).

I don't think its fair to report at this point. All the times I've crashed have been in heavy fighting, explosions everywhere, fighting multiple opponents, with success not guarenteed. I'd like to think I could have pulled it out, but to whomever I was fighting I'm sure it looked like I pulled the plug. People crash... its really hard to tell.

It does still count as a death. Pulling the plug would do nothing... which is why I'm not sure if/why people do it. Your mech is still destroyed you still have to repair it...

I'm not sure why anyone cares about this enough to have a new thread based on it every day. The only thing it effects is KDR, and your KDR doesn't matter. This is a team game: assists are more meaningful, for goodness sake.

If it counts as my kills and component destruction and salvage and xp, then I'm fine with it. If they still get the repair bill and death, then I'm fine with it. In that case I'd thank them for not getting in that final alpha before they bit it. But I don't /know/ if that is the case. You are certain?

Why would they alt-f4 then? It counts as a death. They have to repair. The only thing it really changes is not giving you a kill.

When 3+ people focus fire me I crash to desktop about 25% of the time. This ends up being 5+ matches a day. This is not intentional on my part, this is just a buggy client that can't handle all the missiles/projectiles/screen shake/smoke at once. It is extremely frustrating, because it by definition occurs during a dire situation.

You want to report them because you don't get the kill for your KDR, I understand that. But the fault lies with PGI, not the player.

Can anyone confirm that disconnecting saves you from a death on your record anyway? Whenever I've been dropped from a match and been killed, my death counter has gone up by 1.

My point is IF I don't get $ and XP for a kill. I don't care about their k/d ratio.

Do you get the same $ and XP if the disconnect before they die versus dying while connected to the game?

I think you still get the kill for it, just says Blaank killed ________. Its not like thier Mech disappears or can't be destroyed, just the player is gone.

I think the only time you get augmented XP or $ is if you disconnect while doing no damage, otherwise you get full.

Has anyone noticed a sharp increase in disconnects in the past two weeks? I mostly saw accidental disconnects at the start of the game but not now. I'm assuming the earlier disconnects were not farming or were pilots with the yellow screen/black screen bug. However this week I've noticed several matches where a mech pilot disconnected prior to dying especially if they were the last man and surrounded. I imagine this is a combination of bad sportsmanship and people artificially raising their K/D ratio stat. My solution is to add an Eject function in addition to making disconnects count as kills if the pilot has not yet ejected. Ejected mechs factor into salvage at the end of a match but do not count as a kill against the pilot.

I've had this happen to me numerous times in previous patches, usually when getting focus fired by several enemy mechs and the game crashes to desktop. I think it's because of the extra load put on the computer rendering all the lasers and missiles.

Interesting. So sometimes it might be a bug. Still would't mind an eject button. Might also save time so the team doesnt have to find and kill the last man.

Im calling BS on this dc before kills are cheaters 90% of the time if not more.

They do it...

1. to pad their kdr

2. to increase the elo when it comes into effect

3. to deny the other player his kill

You do not get a kill for a dc so you lose both points and c-bills

Oh no, I'm in a stalker and I'm getting outmaneuvered by Huginn and Muninn. Better Alt-F4!

They just shouldn't get c-bills or XP, I'd be happy to see them DC, infront of me in that case... and its not like they deserve it anyway.
