There are changes coming to the way UAC5 jams.

but it will always jam. That is the downside for the weapon which deal twice the damage of the regular AC/5. Taking away the jamming would simply be overpowered.

im not saying it shouldnt jam but my god after the first shot of the match! 3 out 4 matchs come on

here my 2 cents why even have the uac/5 if its going to jam SO MUCH this needs to be checked i mean my god i cant fire 2 shots and it dam jam;s and im lucky if i get to fire 3 in a fight SO WHY EVEN HAVE THEM

It only jams when it double fires. Don't hold down your mouse button and time your shots, and it'll never jam on you. Only double fire it if you really, really need to.

Edit:

I mount a pair of them on my favorite build and have never jammed them, even after blowing through all 125 rounds I have loaded. Just watch how fast you're pulling the trigger. :)

I like it the way it is now; those of us with some computer skill get to use the weapon just fine, everyone else can settle for the less powerful weapons.

What next, people complaining because other players are "just better at the game"?

Why would you ever use them over AC/5s if you are NOT double firing??? .

Ultra ACs are not ment to be fired constantly in ultra-mode.

From the latest QA (posted 15th November)

Quote

Q: UAC-5s are on a trial mech, when will the changes to the UAC-5 jamming system mentioned by Inouye be put into place? [Rathe]
A: Already in testing. [Paul]

So no specific time, but fingers crossed if not this patch the one after.

Because they have a slightly faster reload time without the double fire..

Rotary Auto-Canons are what most people are thinking of. The RAC's will come with the clans.

Faster cycle time.

Also they sound a lot cooler. :)

Maybe I was just unlucky but I had a Dragon tear me aparrt with probably 10 consecutive Ultra AC/5 shots, no jam.

yes yes, but the RAC's were developed in direct response to the need for better weaponry as a result of the IS ineffectiveness during the invasion.

I would expect that we would see things eventually at some point. Maybe not immediately when the clans invade, but within a few 2-6 months perhaps.

My only problem is the rare occasion when it jams before you get a shot off. I've had to clear 3 jams in a row before actually getting a round out the end of the barrel.

they are fixing the jamming mechanic for UACs, its going to be a long cooldown when it jams not a player fixable thing.

how longshould this take? id say not less then 10 seconds.

I think a cooler mechanic would be that you can't fire or move while it is unjamming. This would add to the tactical considerations of the weapon a lot more than a simple timer would.

this would only be a good idea if you could select if your UAC is able to go to ultra mode or not. but it still sounds like it would only make UACs viable for fast mechs.

just use your brains for once and not hold down your fire button all the time (you can't do that with lasers either, so why should you be able to do it with the Ultra AC/5.)

Just growup and actually learn something for a change. jesus.

Why the hell couldn't you move and unjam? I knew guys that could run, and clear 249s or 240s IRL.

Legs dont work when a gun is in your torso or arm? Why a shell get stuck in a servo or hydraulic?

but you can just hold the fire button with lasers, its not hard to keep a handle on your heat you have a gauge that lets you know if your gonna shut down. UAC jamming is random. i played 4 matches in a trial cicada with friends for fun and never jammed. but one buddy jammed in his first shot 2 games in a row.

You know guys who can run and clear a 249 without physically touching it? A better comparison would be how long it takes a fighter pilot to unjam a 20mm cannon mounted in a pod on the wing without landing. Realistically, you shouldn't be able to unjam during a battle at all. From a gameplay perspective, we need to suspend realism for fun. That's the only reason we are allowed to unjam them at all.

It's a machine... I'm sure there's an "unjam" button that clears it. Kinda like cocking back the action/removing the mag, open it up etc etc. Or in case of a pistol a slide.

They do have those in tanks, planes, LAVs etc.
