Regarding 3rd Person View

The camera angle makes all the difference, as you'll be easily able to look around or over obstacles without endangering the mech. Its a bad idea to introduce that perspective where IT WOULD affect every player to have a spotter you couldn't hit.
I'm not talking targeting - which obviously would still need to follow usual rules - but being able to see something outside that field changes the dynamics of the gameplay drastically.
IMO - its a bad idea, don't do it.

Not just a shooter, but a simulator.
Sure, make a third person version, PGI- then watch your product become touted as shallow and arcadey, ala Hawken.

Already people are pretty unhappy with 'Poptart' mechs and builds, imagine poptarts with the ability to look over the hill before they even jump: this was what we had in MW4 so unless 3rd person shoves the camera onto the ground level it will make that perticular issue much much worse.

Only way of implementing 3rd person (without killing FP) if the camera is right behind you without the ability to look sideways.
Oh well, we see how it looks

There will be other games to play.
Shadowrun Returns will be out by July, with Shadowrun Online coming out a few months later. Those are games that Jordan Weisman actually cares about and won't exploit to maximize short-term profit.

I can't think of any way that I wouldn't be affected by having an opponent enjoying the advantages of 3rd person view while I restricted myself to 1st person. I don't want it, but offering it will affect me.
It affects people using a 1st person view. you can look around corners and the light mechs shooting others back!
I dont want to force myself to use a 3rd person view and lose all perspective of PILOTING just to be at the same level and have all of the advantages of those using 3rd person view.

be a pilot say no to 3pv!

probably 2k pages of negative comments will do the trick ... sadly there is not enough players to do that

I agree with 3rd person as a playable option for matchmaking which is not limited nor restricted in any way from playing in community warfare. It should be an option and probably will be an option as indicated in the OP.
It is coming next month if I read the updates correctly.

3d POV there will be huge benefits for 3d POV users wich cant
be in anyway fully negatet by settings especially if ppl try to bug
out restrictions knowing ppls genuinity if it is used for exploiting
and getting an undue advantage

Are all games in the history of videogaming that include an alternate prospective view were replicated in the exact likeness of this specific videogame arma2?
The answer is "no." Third person or otherwise alternate prospective cameras have existed in gaming for a long long time and they've almost always been unique to the videogame they were created in.

Not just look around corner, over hills and so on but also cheating by using clipping-bug (which are practically unavoidable) to see THROUGH walls and just seeing where I am shot from (and to react accordingly).
Each of these is reason enough to kill 3rd-person at once imho (and they are unavoidable, they can just be reduced). The only valid circumstances to implement something like that would be an enormous playerbase (so you could drop seperately) and a massiv development staff that has nothing to do (CW, collisions, CTD).
Sidenote: Hawken is a nice game and it is designed to be played in 3rd-p. Just sayin' ;-).
Don't get me wrong, I personally prefer 3rd-p! But MWO is just not the game for it (even though I could finally see all the extremly expensiv paint...). MWO's appeal is the franchise and the sim-character. So don't be like "but people want 3rd-p..." That might be true (it is for me) but some/many/most of those people might not be as childish as to stomp on the ground and want it for every game there is.
Cheers

I can think of some in less than 30 seconds ready?
Tombraider
Prince of Persia
Resident Evil series
Metal Gear Solid series
World of tanks
World of warcraft
Battlefield 2
Splinter Cell series
All of these have unique alternate perspective cameras.

You obviously aren't a battletech videogame fan. Otherwise, you would know 3rd person view was included on how many battletech videogame titles out of how many total titles created?
