This feature could be used to improve your own tactics / create movies of the battle / identify cheaters, bugs and exploits.
I would love to rewatch sections of the battles I was in to find out WTF happened.
This is something that would be absolutely amazing once tournament play begins - groups could post the battles on their websites.

Please read the post, Zakius, before you jack my thread and turn it into another no 3rd person rant.

They read it. Then decided that you are putting forth your ideas and that they should do the same. If every person here created their own thread to talk about their ideas most of those threads would get deleted or combined by the mods anyway, so they are just doing what they are supposed to do, ie. using an existing thread to discuss the issues and not make a redundant thread.

Generally, no, so make it more detailed next time
/edit -- and for the OT portion of my post, yes your idea is great.

rarely thorn, rarely.
And i would love to see your idea implemented at some point. Would be a nice icing on the cake. Too much to do in the immediate future game wise though.

Of interest on this point is that the Beagle Active Probe canonically "includes a memory unit that records the events of a battle and allows for later playback".
"This includes the ability for the user to "re-fight" the battle by making different tactical decisions, which are then analyzed and implemented by the system, allowing for the resulting consequences to be observed."
(This capability is described in TRO 2750, within the entry for the HTC-213B Hellcat II.)
This would be in addition to the "BattleROM" (data-recorder/"black box"/gun-cam system) that is a standard feature of BattleMechs.
With the above as the fluff/canon justification for such a thing to be available as a "replay" to be made available only after a match has taken place, this would (IMO) be the palatable method for allowing any sort of third-person play.
Though, it would remain to be seen whether the Devs have the interest to actually implement such functions for the BAP (which would likely require some limited AI to drive the 'Mechs in the "recording")...
Your thoughts?

BattleROM as a puchaseable module? Hmm.
Whispsy suggested earlier about making this a sellable feature to justify the effort. Of course I'd rather it be free but understand a FTP game needs income and I am willing to pay for items that I consider useful.

Personally, I would prefer to see a "Basic BattleROM" (video replay limited to normal-vision view from one's own bun-cams) as a free and standard-issue feature, with an "Enhanced BattleROM" (video replay with different sensor modes, and/or other desirable features) as a purchasable/equippable expansion/module and BAP providing its additional features (video replay with controllable roaming camera, possible re-fighting of a recent battle against AI) as a separate purchasable/equippable item.
Your thoughts?
