Game is not ready for general release.
I am an old school person with old school values. These kind of patch as you pay is not the kind of development i would support or recommend to anyone. No one would buy a car which is half finished . There are plenty of games out there which are better value for your time.

Since I've joined some 3 months ago, I've seen steady improvement of a game with indeed already decent fundamentals. Believe it or not, we are having fun over here even with the 4man drop groups.
There are very few disconnects in fact, and there are only very few bugs.
If I think of one or the other major title, say Empire Total War, upon release, and a basically unplayable state, I'd say this game isn't that bad at all, in fact, I have to agree with those here who say it's quite good.
I can't agree at all with those who say that community concerns are not adressed. That is simply not true, a lot of balancing is continuously going on and I can see with my sporadic screening of this forum that tweaks do respond to community concerns.
That doesn't mean that everything is fine yet, clearly. I'm personally disappointed that we didn't get 8pl drop groups yesterday. But the game is on a very good track, and I can and will recommend it (already in this state, and major features are idd yet to come..)

MW4 and its iterations happily occupied 4+ years of my life... meeting and playing with new, lasting freinds
we had a BLAST...
but then...you didn't need to be a Rocket Surgeon just to operate a MECHLAB

However, as of now, both the lacking netcode and the engine optimization don't fit the bill. I'm a BT fan, so I can look over that (for some time at least), but my friends aren't (although they're familiar with the MechWarrior franchise).
As soon as PGI has enough progress on these issues, I will recommend MWO, but unfortunately the development on the latter is going in the wrong direction.

I will continue to play but will also be playing other stuff but untill they sort things out i wont be recommending it to anyone else. Things i think they need to sort out ASAP
-Netcode and hit boxes
-Collisions
-AFK farmers
-Streaks
-Overheat shutdown error
-Jenners (will be taken care of with some of the above)

They love it, but then again they're pretty smart and know what the word "beta" means.

As it is now? here's a typical conversation:
"Hey, how's that MWO?"
"The game has a lot of potential and pretty good graphics for the small amount of content so far, but PGI should never have published open beta at this stage."
"how so?"
... conversation trails off with descriptions of all the simple problems such as the netcode / hit detection / poor implementation of balancing / general stability / poor beginner experience / pvp only / no CW / mecha game where environments are static, non-destructible, with crytek no-less / etc etc etc
... and more than often the conversation spins into how F2P is a plague.

I wouldn't want other types of gamers to be introduced to it in such a state.

That's it. I can't get anyone to stick with it..
Not entirely sure why.
