What's Wrong With Pugs?

Lone wolves insist on playing by themselves, not with their team, and they are generally the ones ******** on chat that their group left them, why don't you focus fire, go stop cap while I chase this Jenner etc.
Lone wolves are not team players. They play the game for themselves, with themselves and at the expense of the rest of the poor people who are stuck on their side.
I almost always PUG. I just choose to PUG on the TS3 servers, join a group and then launch. That is the definition of a Pick Up Group. Grab some people, form a group, play.
Most of my fun matches are formed with my guildies when we head to our Vent server, form up and group. That is a pre-made, with people I am familiar with, who you generally speaking know what they will do in a situation and what they will drop with (plus talking helps).
The problem I have with the current MM and all forms after this is the simplistic view people have of "everyone who groups up before clicking LAUNCH is a pre-made, everyone who just hits LAUNCH is a PUG"
This is wrong, and the game should not penalize grouping, which it currently does.
This game should have a lobby to join, group (pre-launch), communicate with your group so that 'Mechs can mesh together.
This game also needs an integrated VOIP option.
These 2 things will completely ELIMINATE the entire pug vs. pre-made BS, which is actually a lone wolf vs. group argument.

Bro I respect your entire post and agree with basically everything you said, but I have to be a nitpicker for a sec and get semantical about this statement...
In this game, pugging is just straight up hitting launch. A pugmade is when you jump on one of the public TS and find 2-3 other players to roll with. Obviously a premade is, well, a real premade. 3 different things. When you say you pug but join a pugmade, you're basically in that second category, at least to me.
I'm right there with you.
And yeah, lone wolfing is kinda different than straight up pugging as well, cuz you could be in a group but be on a solo role rushing a flag cap, scouting/spotting entire round, etc., providing nothing to the actual group directly, to me that's about as lone wolf as it gets. I get the feeling though that most people around here think of lone wolfing as a mentality rather than a role, so if that's your angle I see your blur between lone wolfers who are pugging and actual puggers who are pugging. I guess given the lore and fluff within this game, lone wolf is almost seen as like a character type of RP thing, but to me, when we're actually playing the game, it's also a type of role that solo guys or whatever can get into if they feel like rolling that way.
Sorry to be that guy, just had to point it out, and maybe my previous experience of identifying these things differ with this games culture however, so maybe I'm wrong. Anyways it's semantical really, I just wanted to state my thoughts on it.

I like your thinking. And yes, VoIP is just essential.

As long as there is an option to turn it off in the menue and I don't have to mute everyone every single game. If not it's just obnoxious.
Also a good point. I know VoIP would also lead to that one a**hole bragging and insulting others and screaming obscenities...

I saw one post where a pugger said, "I don’t like getting in chat and have someone yelling at me to do something." I doubt that he has ever gotten in chat. I have lots of friends that I drop with and we never yell at each other. I have also gotten in the EU and AM servers and joined groups of people I did not know. No yelling there either just a bunch of guys getting together .. scratch that working together and having fun.
I will say that the problem with the 10% puggers is they think this is Call of duty, Halo or Rainbo 6 you pick.. They are on a team but really solo and probably win that way. But this game is not that way, if you have that mentality then you are going to die and lose allot.
If you’re a pug and do not want to drop with or work with others go find a new game. There are no hero’s in this game, only teams.

But there are hero 'mechs! har har har! (I'll get my coat)
Again, though, must those of us who don't run around like this is Mech of Duty: Online Warfare be grouped up with those who do? The 10% that give us a bad name need to be segregated, not ALL puggers.

I have seen about 1/3 of the time I am the last man standing when the newbies get themselves killed fast but I take it as a challenge.
I was in and atlas and went back to kill some one capping our base and killed the capper then all of sudden I was the last man left and proceded to kill 5 enemys before the last two took me down. That was and awsome match(aided by a couple of head shots on Cats) that I had fun with even loosing.
I think they will, and should, balance the match making in the future but can live with it for now.

There needs to be the ability to PUG for more casual players.
Currently, PUGs lack some very useful tools like integrated voice, robust text chat, pre and post game lobbies to make the game more suitable, team based, and competitive for them.
I play mostly premade with my crew, but I also PUG when I only have a hour or less to play.
Those of us who like to play premade enjoy winning via tactics, team work and working together against a similarly organized team. We want a challenge which PUGs cannot generally provide without some serious cat-wrangling.

this is a toxic argument anymore. pgi will eventually give us a decent MM or not... sit back and watch the circus unfold.
