how hard is it to understand that??
i made 5 out of the 7 kills and these monkeys kill the afk'er after i repeatedly asked them not to.
grrrrrrrr
Or shoot the AFKer in the head, and only the head and, depending on their loadout and chassis, get more money in salvage than you would get from the capture win/capture assist bonuses combined.

"Assault Mode" if you really want to call it that is essentially Team Death Match. The base capture mechanic is so simplistic, so shallow and frankly so tacked on that it barely qualifies as a place holder. When (if) new modes come out with more interesting objectives then you may have something. Right now the monitary difference is to small for experienced players to really give a damn, base cap in it's current form only really exists so they can call it an "objective based game" in the most weakest sense.
I've been saying since almost the day I joined that I wish the objective was more interesting and had more to it. Unfortunately any attempt to discuss the poor quality of the objective mode tends to get burried under a torrent of "L2P" and "Lrn 2 Defend" posts. A new game mode was supposed to come two days ago if I remember right, that obviously didn't happen. It will probably be a very long time before any worthwhile objectives get added to MWO.
In the mean time it's simply more interesting, and potentially more profitable to kill the last mech.

Do you think those people are as dumb as somebody who assumes everybody on his team is from/in the US?

Notice when you caprace you get about half as much money as when you actually fight? It's significant.

I will do my best to win either way as a win is better than a loss, but if I can pick limbs off I will, even if its the last mech alive and I wind up killing it losing you your "cap assist"

This. I'll accept crippling (removal of arms, one leg), but most times always seems to be one who wants to make the kill board....

I moved into the cap and started capping. Two of my teammates, we'll call them ***** and Moron, started yelling at me, and threatened to TK me if I didn't get out of the cap space. I said cap gets more money. They said, "rofl noob no it doesn't salvage gets more money." They repeated the threat and I said okay, let's see what happens. ***** and Moron are in a fight at our own base. Halfway to the base, ***** and Moron go kabloom! Swearing on team chat ensues. I'm thinking two things: Ya shoulda let me cap, and gee, now that we're gonna lose, you aren't getting a salvage bonus. Our cap meter is dwindling. Somehow I managed to get to our cap in time and kill the last enemy and winning the match.

So obviously I do not know the story of the match...But From what I gather from the other side of this stories view the guy that killed all but 1 of the enemy team after raking in all the glory for himself announces to his "Team" don't kill the only mech left, help ME cap. Chances are, quite a few of them ran for that last mech hoping for the slim chance that one of them might actually walk out of the match with a kill for themselves. I doubt they were illiterate of non English reading, prob just wanted in on some of the action themselves, or like quite a lot of people. Just not in it for the cap. Not a flame here just an outside observation.

The way it is now tho it really doesn't make much difference.
In either case, most play just to have fun piloting mechs and shooting other mechs, not to "earn c-bills", although they are needed to gain things, that isn't the "reason" people play.
