Re-testing the game after reinstalling (which did help, a little) I noticed that the slowdown only occurs in my own 'mech.

I was killed early in a game and when watching from a team mates cockpit I noticed the slowdown was completely gone!

Could a few of you guys who are suffering with unplayable frame rate drops test this next time your get killed early game, just stick around and watch from a team mates perspective in a fire fight and see if the slowdown sticks around...

Hopefully this should narrow down the list of possible causes for the PGI team so they can get a fix out sooner!

I noticed this too, the framerate smooths out as soon as I go into spectator mode.

From other threads about this, it seems that several other people have seen this too.

I noticed that already before the patch.

Another behavior I noticed is that the framerate is going back to normal by simply pressing tab, even in the worst scenarios.

Maybe there is something wrong with the HUD?

I can confirm that the same thing happens to me too.

My GPU usage typically goes up when spectating. I'm going to try tab when I have reinstalled the game in half an hour or so, it should be interesting.

Did anyone that experienced this issue check the memory consumption of the game?

It is not untypical for memory leaks to create eventual slowdowns of a software the longer it runs - memory leaks will also be typically identifiable by the applications memory needs to be steadily growing.

If it only occurs when you play the game in your mech, then it may be a memory leak regarding something you can do only while in the mech. Not sure what that could be, admittedly, since you also say the spectacted players UI - maybe something input related?

[/wild speculation]

Yesterday I played a bunch of games and eventually got the terrible slowdowns agian, in that game they only occured while looking at a bunch of mechs at the same time, when only a few were in view fps was good.

Seemed to me the leak occured a bit earlier than usual.

Might be un-related but I've been getting weird lags mostly on the snow maps since the patch. With an average ping rate of 34 and running a heavy with a standard engine I don't think I should be seeing this, especially since the only previous things I've witnessed were occasional Jenner-ports and slow-down/crash when being close to 2-3 dual LRM20 boats firing off at once.

tab doesn't do anything for my frame rates. Spectating does a little but not that much

Noticed this recently. Ran into a fps dip to single digits in middle of fight, proceeded to die and when spectating fps zoomed back to the 20s.

Just adding another person who sees improvements in spectator over actually playing. Get 5 -15 more frames in spec mode.

Spectator realy does get me my 30ish fps to be stable and not dip down while turning & gunning :)

Can confrim. Spectator routinely gives me ~12FPS more than actually playing in my Mech.

I also experience this, I see 40+FPS in spectator mode and typically 10-25FPS when piloting a mech.

I have had better framerates spectating than playing since ... well it has always been that way. :)
