Gauge (glad to see they fixed the capitalization error for your name!), thank you for your interest. I hope you find exactly what you are looking for, and I hope that it turns out to be us! As for ranks, it is a POSSIBILITY, although they really would not have much meaning and would probably be uniquely oriented around wolf pack styling, such as Alpha, Pup (for brand-new recruits), and Long-Fang or something like that. Just to track relative position and time spent with the unit. As a pack, we will all be nearly equals. Pretty much the only exception to that is me, because as the Alpha I will be giving us a direction to follow, but with input form the entirety of the group.

Oh yeah, I figured there'd be basic ranks kicking around, but stuff that doesn't play much role on the battlefield, more for helping new users and making broad decisions for the company. It just seemed a little much to see groups already deciding who will go in what specific lance, considering how impractical that sounds for actually putting games together. Everyone should be playing with everyone else anyways :D

Precisely. You can never count for everyone to be available at the same time. Which is why I want us to be as flexible as possible. The key is finding out what combinations of people are the best. When you get a group of people together who should be together, it is just magic.

Hmm, very nice. A few people and I had a merc company named Black Wolves in UTS and NBT4 about 10 years ago. Please carry on the name with pride.

The very idea of joining a group like this in a multiplayer experience speaks to me. I would be honored to be in the company of these fine fellows. I really think that taking an adaptable and ever-changing approach to this is the perfect idea for an MMO, especially of this type.

Age: 20
Timezone: -5:00 GMT
Preferred call-sign: Well most people call me Hamster but I don't really care, I like the novelty of earning a nickname anyway.
Experience (both TT and MW): None. I've never experienced anything related to BattleTech before, but for as much lore as there is in this universe, it's surprisingly comprehensive to me.
Preferred 'Mech class and roles: Well generally speaking, my playstyle is always preferably up close and personal. I've always been more inclined to melee related strategies, and I do enjoy flanking enemies. That said, I don't have a preferred 'Mech, but from what I can tell the Charger seems pretty darn cool. Generally speaking, though, I could probably be an adequate jack of all trades.
Tell us a little about yourself: I like to punch things and watch them explode. That's typically my favorite thing to do all the time. I have a deep rooted passion for swords. I'm not the leader type, I prefer to avoid the responsibility of being an officer, since I don't always have time for something like that. I have a tendency to leave a game for a certain period of time and come back maybe a month or two later, I have a tendency to try avoiding strong ties with other people in order to not look like a jerk in the event that I practically disappear, granted, if communication with me was maintained outside of the game, like on skype or something, then that'd be a different story.
Questions and concerns: There's not really too much for me to ask. I'm new to this whole thing, but I have concerns that some elitist players may diminish my experience with this game, so if you guys are friendly to folks that are green like me then that's fantastic.

- Tronchaser, I will do my best to bring glory to the name! A funny coincidence.

- Hamster, welcome to the Wolves! Glad to see you like my vision for the unit, and understand the strengths of such an approach. Also happy to see another person discovering the BT universe. No worries on being green, chances are most people are pretty rusty right now given it has been a decade since MW4, and few of us have been playing it all of those years. It will be fun introducing you to all the awesome things MechWarrior has to offer. As for elitism? You will not find it here, at least not directed to fellow members of the Pack . We will also operate under a "Real life first" policy. If you need to take a break from the game, go right ahead. Although I would ask that you let me know you will be absent through some method, I will probably have a section of our webpage forums dedicated to "I am taking a break" threads. Speaking of our webpage, please sign up on it. Right now we are discussing insignia changes and how to go about a ranking system. Would love to have you join in.

25 in august
SerpentOne or Flare( apparently from the energy weap reliance)
Whatever EST-US is...
Warhawk, Adder, Nova-Primes, and Uziel
My SOP is usually recon/sweep tactics, mixed with rear-line reserve and FS(fire support). I like to keep the distance and either snipe and sting, or exhaust my opponents. In 4 i was used alot to supplement gaps in lines and engage at a distance using er-ppc's. I am a quick analyst of situations and pretty fair marksman.
Ive played nearly everything BT or MW and have read plenty of ref-guiides and all the novels. In 3 i was awarded the ward bloodname, but during 4/mercs i never stayed with any one clan to attempt it. MWO has rekindled that spark to achieve good things for a clan once again and plan to spank some spheroids in the event the clans come to play. Some would call me an elitist, but i just hold myself to a different standard when im in character or playing, greens will find me less abrasive than some other know-it-alls.
I enjoy reading, writing, sketching, and playing the chello and bass guitar. Im also a major military history, history, geography, philosophy, and tactics & strategy buff. Other than the mass volumes of BT and manga, it accounts for 1/3 of my growing library.
As far as questions or concerns... Will we compete for trials of position or bloodnames? Will we be held accountable for dishonorable acts and conduct or are we holding ourselves accountable to our own honor. Lastly do you have a slot open for a sweep lance pilot or fire support.

Oh yeah, and im a staunch warden. Should we make it to the exiles era, i will have to pardon myself to my true home.

Naga, welcome! As far as bloodnames, we are not really a Clan. We are a mercenary company (for now), with the intention of joining the Clans when we can. Also, no one except the devs truly have the authority to decide how to deal with bloodnames, and we will see if they implement something when the Clans invade. As far as Trials of Position, they are a possibility, although may be hard to implement in our current structure. Roles and positions are going to be slightly fluid, to allow maximum flexibility on the battlefield. We will discuss the possibility further down the line. You may find some more answers on our webpage, and we can go into deeper discussion there. There is already a thread dedicated to the subject . Glad to see another Wolf in the pack.

Alternate version of the insignia after member input, still a WIP (work-in-progress) though:

Like the sig :P

How about a simple numerical rank that just shows how long an individual has been in the company? For example a Class V would be a newbie, and a Class I would be a veteran. You could have Class X or Class O for founders/generals/top brass.

I am really liking the group's dynamic so far. I hope we don't lose it.

I like the idea of having trials of position, but dont know if the game structure would allow those types of matches. I'm curious how we 'd be able to facilitate this.

I will also note this on the website (when i can get to a compputer as im on a phone right now). I think i like the darker background more then the greyscale. Would the darker background be overkill? i do like the edging as a golden ring. Thanks for that...

I have to agree. Ranking in the field will have to be simplified, almost nonexistant, especially if some dont have headsets. Besides, if we will be working on a modified star system, designations would probably be numeric anyway. Numerics or callsigns will matter more then ranks.

Rankings should be done off site anyway. On the website, i think a discussion/thread was started. Check it out if interested.

Yeah I think we have a good core group being built right now. Dynamic will only get better from there! The ranking system is definitively going to be a tricky thing, but I like the ideas I am seeing from you guys.

Hey everybody, Alaric reached out to me yesterday, so I figured I'd say hi and let you all know I'm looking forward to getting to know the different groups here. PM me if you want to talk strategy/tactics.

Btw, I have to say I really like your insignia design. Pretty cool stuff.

I like the look of the insignia designs, feels pretty old-school as far as iconography goes.

Thank you Gauge, it is the feel I was going for. Something simple, yet bold and easily recognizable. We have at least a couple dozen different variations on our own forums. A lot of member input is currently going into both the insignia and our unit history. The guys who have joined so far are great, even if there are only a few of us at this point.
