Look, Acs As A Whole Suck, Most Weapons Suck. Uac/5S Need To Stop Being Compared To The Bad Weapons.

It simply comes down to a matter of better. The Gauss takes no heat (1 heat, wahoo) so effectively it adds 15 free damage to your rotation. That's a LOT of free damage. It has an extremely fast moving projectile so it will be far easier to hit with than the AC10 and especially the AC20. It has MASSIVE range allowing you to assist at long ranges or snipe people using lower ranged weapons.
The UAC/5 nerf isn't going to make people suddenly start using the AC10 and AC20. They're just going to use a Gauss backed by medium lasers and/or streaks again.
Give me one reason to use ACs instead of Gauss PGI, just one. But you can't, cause your balance team is quite insanely bad. Machine guns still suck, flamers suck, PPCs suck, ACs suck, LBX sucks, SRMs are tolerable, large lasers are tolerable, pulse sucks (you made it suck mind you.) And yet Streak/mediums/gauss have been the main weapons for like 4 months now, with only brief and short spans where other weapons could be on par with them.
End result is this: PGI your balance really sucks and if you don't stop and actually do a comprehensive review and stop this madness where streak/gauss/mediums are on every freaking mech this game is going to get very boring very quickly. You've had four MONTHS to clear up this crap and make other weapons useful.
Do you hear that sound? It's another streakcat jump jetting in the air above me.

I also dont like that a 30mm AC 2 shakes my screen and has a huge blast its a 30mm cannon not a 150mm tank gun
It should work like a MG only slower rate of fire.
Thanks

Completely agree. PGI needs to get table top purists out of their balancing team, and get people in there that are less interested in implementing purified canon, and more interested in making a "believable" weapons that have a practical purpose. Having a weapon that jams this frequently, in this high-tech universe is beyond re-tarded.

IF you can spare the tonnage, and If you're a hell of a Crack Shot with the shambolic ballistics this game has. Sure.
Myself, I'm a pretty decent shot on the run kind of guy. I also don't roll a mech that will give me enough tonnage to spare, and still have a big right hand to slap someone to the floor with afterwards. Especially after that bullet hose known as the AC2 is fed, -and- keep a big engine on the mech with.
I'd rather have a LL and ML in my right arm, and have 2 AC5s on the other arm.

your elaborate fantasy falls sort of actual fiction. A gauss + medium will generate 4 heat, compared to the 6 from an AC20. They will do the same damage, just with 2 extra heat to spare. Gauss is also easier to hit, and longer range, and has more purposes than simply damage dealer.
Yeah, the AC20 gets one extra ton for an extra heat sink but it won't make up for the: 5 heat difference, greater difficulty in hitting due to shorter projectile, and complete lack of range.
The fantasy that ACs are good stops when you actually stop and look at the game practically. A gauss + mediums will out damage an AC20 + mediums. And a Gauss + nothing will out damage an AC20 + nothing when you're at 500 range out.

I disagree, I still love the AC/20 to death. Especially once they fragilize the Gauss/make them explode/min range them then AC/20 will once again reign supreme. LBX10 is also quite effective, especially in a pair. Can you say crits?
All weapons have their place. Some of them as are of yet icomplete (MGs, Flamers, PPCs....) but I actually find the balance quite good right now. LRMs are still a little on the weak side even with artemis, they are still not to be feared at all.

yes, yes it does diminish the ACs actually. It's in direct competition with the ACs for who gets picked and the gauss always wins. That's actually the entire problem.

it's not glass half empty, it's just looking at things competitively. If they are worse than the best and yet directly compete against the best then they suck. The LRMs might be subpar but because there's no LRM replacement they don't suck. The ACs are subpar AND have a replacement, so they suck.
