Because seriously... what fits hundred tons of steel bringing death better than some heavy metal tunes? :)

Of course there are.

My own preferences run thusly:
viking metal
death metal
drone doom
black metal
heavy metal
gore metal
fusions of the above (blackened death metal, black viking metal, drone death, etc)

And the odd power metal band too. Sabaton, anyone?

I'm a musician with a studio, I'm totally up for writing and recording themes for units/clans/houses if anyone wants one. Love metal - currently in a Death Metal band and doing a concept EP based around Fallout with my guitarist as a side project which is kinda groovier with breakdowns.

Favourite bands at the moment would be Testament, Megadeth, Thy Art Is Murder and Hour of Penance.

I do.

Although... as I said on the FRR sub-forum... even if Metal is where almost all of the music I listen to falls under... my "Metal Tree" more looks like a hollowed out gnarled and dead tree... due to that I am very selective with what I listen to, and there is a lot of it that I just don't really care for. :D

Screaming, death growing, and speed playing the instruments are some of those stuff that ruins songs for me for example. :)

All are welcome here! :) I mostly listen to atmospheric black metal like "DarkSpace" or Black Metal with rallly mind blowing lyrics like "Grabnebelfürsten" and just for enjoyment I go with Pagan Black Metal like "Bergthron" or "Festung Nebelburg". But when it comes to Mechs I also like some dirty Death Metal. :D

Are there metal fans!?! This is "Battletech" not "Fluffybunnytech"! Of course there's metal fans here. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the majority of us are metal fans of one type or another. I'm personally into more classic and speed metal, but I do delve into viking metal from time to time.

Woah. That sound really confuses my mind. :)

This is DarkSpace: Nothing fits better to sci fi games than a little bit of dark sci fi black metal.

Me listens a lot to DSBM lately. Namely Austere, Woods of Desolation and Snowfall.

I still play Mechwarrior 4 and occasionally Mechwarrior Living Legends listening to Metal like Tyr, Amon Amarth, Hammerfall, Blind Guardian, and others. But I listen to that music while playing almost all my games. >=D

My preferences tend to go more towards the likes of:
In Extremo, Korpiklaani, Versailles (kudos if you already know that band).

Headbanger to the extreme right here!

Got raised on Metallica and Judas Priest, but my favorites right now are Dimmu Borgir and Rammstein.

I also am a huge fan of an obscure but GREAT American Black Metal band called Nightbringer.

Anyways a few others would be Carnifex, Immortal, Behemoth, Amon Amarth, Gorgoroth... the list goes on.

Actually, I happen to know Versailles - and still stick to Rhapsody instead. :)
Other than that, you can catch me listening to stuff like Turmion Kätilöt, Ghoultown, Suidakra, Wolfchant.....

Wolfchant! :) Are they famous outside of Bavaria? All of the band memebers come from the area where I live... I have seen them live like a 1000 times. And those guys are really great... they organize all the local festivals. And they really care about the music and not the bucks... 3 days of festival, good bands, good organisation = under 40€.

I personally think Tech Death would suit mechwarrior nicely.

Amogh Symphony-:

The Faceless-:

So many many more bands that be appropriate \m/

Yeah. This game really asks for it. :) I just can´t image bringing mayhem to some orchestral music. Well... at least not while sitting in a big mech. There need to be more heavy sounds. Heavy drums, hard guitars... :D

Micheal Keene is the man for the job if you ask me, The Faceless have a rather futuristic feel to a lot of their songs, plus the guy has plenty experience messing with electronic styles of music which lend itself to the Mechwarrior theme.
Bit bias i know :).
