Ooookay, so just to clarify. You seriously intentionally play badly only 'cos someone can see your statistics?

Being a bad player is one thing, being an ****** with your teammates is another and the latter is far worse obviously.
So i wouldn't be proud of that.

My two brothers who are founders but play casual will not be looking forward to being made fun of from people.

Put an opt out option in.

bum rushing in that game is the fastest way to get credits when you have multiple tanks.

btw, Ghost, you can have them turn off the founders tag in client (under the "options" tab at the bottom left). i have mine off until i can get analog stick support, because i am that embarrassed by how bad i am trying to dance a target (or do any serious piloting) with kb/mouse... i just don't want to have the rest of the founders disrespected because i (rhymes with "duck") so bad...

My K/D is around 0.35 on about 1400 matches. Win loss runs about 5/7.
I pug almost exclusively (waiting for community warfare), and tend to be highly individualistic, if someone has a decent plan, I'll follow, but I do get in squirrel chaser mode at times.
Pilot lights and mediums almost exclusively. I scout. When I scout, I go into GoD mode (Gatherer of Data). I die early, and often.
What I've learned:
The aim is not to annihilate the enemy, but rather to achieve battlefield dominance either through combat or capping, or a combination.
Anything I do that helps my team achieve the goal of the mission is good.
Anything I do that denies the enemy achieving their goal is good.
Any time I put my own glory above the objective, I hurt my team.
The overall win counts far more than individual stats from a match. The individual stats just lets you know what they counted.
Make the stats public, let idiots brag. The real experience is knowing you did something in the game, whether acknowledged or not.

If stats went public that type of crap would get way worse.

I have a penchant for trying a lot of builds, some of which are complete garbage.
I am one who will run back to defend the base while my team presses on, and die in the attempt while getting no kills, but maybe the win.
I know that the stats will be used by some to make points on the forums or to disregard points made by others. Not looking forward to it, but it is what it is.

I've heard this D/C thing mentioned by several people but really it should be easy enough to track if your mech is destroyed and tally it up as a death regardless if you're in-game or not. This is not to say people won't do stupid things to boost their stats, but this particular exploit will eventually be fixed I'm sure.

This means the majority vote likes to have stats shown for public viewing.

Okay, all joking aside, making stats a publicly viewed thing is going to go about as well as a steel balloon. No, really. For those of us who were in Closed Beta in early June or before, you remember the Leader Board we had? Remember how they TOOK THAT DOWN? I forget what excuse they used when they removed it, and honestly I do not care, the important thing was, that it was GONE. I am sorry, oh so sorry, but, making stats publicly visible is going to create a sense of elitism in an already divided crowd that may yet be further divided if PGI goes through with adding in 3rd person views. Oh sure, you can say: well, if stats are not important to you, then do not worry what others think as they are not someone you want to play with if they get all twisted over who has what specific stat. I am sorry, again, oh so sorry, but, as we clearly see RIGHT NOW, dropping in Lone Wolf/Pug is not ending well for ANYONE forced into that by factors that limit play times or what ever. It will get to the point where this game stops being fun to play for kicks and giggles, and becomes a 2nd or 3rd job for people who just dont want to be stomped all the time because now they are forced to achieve some arbitrary stat just to find a group that thinks that number means something.
I see this taking a huge amount of fun from the game and not doing ANYTHING to add it back in. Battlefield 3 broke down badly because of stat farming, players would play nothing but maps like METRO for KDR farming, and I honestly see that coming here. Some map will be the pinnacle of stat farming. Only way to prevent that, is to keep maps random as it is, but, that would break CW and the idea they sold us on fighting for planets, but then again, they are considering shattering a key design pillar so, who knows right?
