I don't care about stats, I mean it's like the whole K/D ratio in MOBA games, sadly people care too much about it so if you get a low kill count/high death count you're apparently labeled as a "noob" and or "useless". Which is just pathetic imo.

Sometimes you have good days and sometimes you have bad days, **** happens and it's not fun to get the whole "you suck" and "noob" and "useless" in your face. In fact, even saying those words will pretty much decrease your team spirit by a large margin and then then the whole team will suffer for it.

So, imo, people shouldn't bother with stats and treat everyone in a more friendly way. If you're new, you can't really be a perfect pilot in one day. These things take time.

Trollers and Suiciders though, I can't speak for them, they just abuse everything and deserve to be disliked.

I have learned 1 thing from battlefield public stats:

Once they are online, i will stop posting on this forum.
BF3 official forum is the worst ******* forum i have ever seen, and we will have exactly the same here.

"hey, i believe the Viper helicopter needs a little tweak, what do you guys think?" -> OMGZORZ hahah you boon only 300 kills? L2P scrub, get 5000 Viper kills, then we can start talking.

"I think the m16a3 is a little bit to powerful right now, its by far the most used weapons because it doesn't have any real disadvantage." -> LOL 0.8 k/d? might wanna play farmville? no m16 there which will hurt your feelings. **** noob.

you couldn't make a single post without getting flamed for SOMETHING in your profile. i had solid numbers across the stat sheet, 2.55 k/d , 550 spm 1 w/l and still got flamed for some irrelevant bullsh*t (lol, 15% accuracy on your least used weapon, l2aim).

If you like it or not, EXACTLY the same thing will happen here once public stats are online.

I don't care one way or another on whether they are public. In my opinion, they need to redesign the stats. Kill/Death ratio is a lot less important than damage output/received ratio and shots fired/hits (per weapon type) when considering good pilots.

Since the current set of stats in no way shape or form accurately reflects a player's actions from a team perspective, I don't see the point of having them public.

The kill stat is totally bogus anyway unless the kill was based on 100% damage done by one person. Otherwise, it should be classed as a kill assist regardless of who got the last shot.

Not too bothered but think they should all be zeroed when beta ends.

Maybe award a kill if inflict over 75% of damage to a mech otherwise it is an assist. More recognition for those who are tagging and narcing for their team would be nice, as annoying as they are when on other team.

People who disco before death have the highest KDR.
People who suicide farm have the worst.

I've already seen the effect of this starting to hit games. Everyone clusters together and camps or just races straight to the base. I'm getting pretty bored of this style of play because if you want to fight, be prepared to take the enemy team solo because pugs will NOT back you up, even if they're right around the corner.

I feel that PGI needs to give people the option of whether or not to enable or disable this function, to display it publicly or not, rather than force it onto everyone to adopt this.

I am one of the players who tends to do a lot of the INITIAL damage to enemy mechs, then gets killed and someone who hung back goes in for the kill. I don't care, as long as it's a team win. Makes my KDR look bad, but so what. I'm just trying to get a team win, and the only stat that really matters to me is team wins and losses. It would be nice if it split between whether you were in a premade or pugging, as I know my team wins tends to drop a lot when pugging, and it would be interesting to me to see the difference. I can't use VOIP while pugging right now to tell my team to cap quickly while I run around our base trying to keep the enemy from capping. I've had a fair number of wins where someone else played the sacrifice card to hold our base while we rushed cap as well, and I type words of thanks, as I can tell what they are doing sometimes if the base being attacked message goes on and off. That is the sort of teamwork stuff that I really like to see in the game.

I don't care, but if stat resets are allowed, I second the suggestion to make 'em cost MC. Want to wag your e-peen 'cause of your awesomesauce stats (after that reset that wiped your painful learning process with extremely low k/d ratio) ? Pay up.

It's not like you're buying an advantage in-game with it, resetting stats does nothing for your real in combat performance.

Edit: Oh, and a damage dealt stat might be a good idea, too, in that case.

I don't want everyone to know how terribad I am at this game right now :P

I don't really care either way though.

I actually voted yes, as i have no problem with stats (although damage done and assists may be more useful than k/d)
but then i read Marvyra´s post and i kinda changed my mind. A more friendly approach sounds better... You, sir, got the right idea...

No pvp game is good until is has publishable stats that can be imported into a killboard for all to see.
Eve-online is the best example.
Stats show you are active and you fight well.
Otherwise, folks will just lie about their stats or hide the fact that they are OP with aimbots or afk farmers.
Stats allow us to verify what you say about your skill and experience, because we don't trust you.

I think it should be opt-in, or at the worst opt-out. I would definitely have mine showing, but I can understand folks who prefer to not have theirs public for one reason or another.

Emotionally I agree about the epeener stat whores comment. HOWEVER, there are a multitude of people who, as in baseball, are addicts of stats and they support the heck out of their game. Myself, as an Artillery Specialist for the Legion Of Phobos, I will never have the kill stats of our gunslingers, but I certainly look for my assists after a game. I run one artillery mech (LRM BOAT) but have 6 other mechs I practice with, some in PUGs and some with the team.

One other note : before the last patch I went to check on my stats. Then a few days later (death in family caused a break) I checked them again to write them down and viola! I found I had played about 19 more games and lost most of them. Remarkable as I am retired and no one has access to my computer or password but me. Reported this abberation but heard nothing back so it may be that stats have been...irregular. Do not know if anyone else has seen this.

The current stats are meaningless

This is a team objective game, and the stats should reflect this.

In order of importance:-

W/L ratio

Caps

Cap defence (needs to be tracked)

Average Time in match

Average Time in combat

Average Time spotting/targeting

Average Damage Done

Average Damage Received

Average XP

Average CB earned

Number of Kills

Number of Assists

Number of Deaths

Stats need context to have any meaning. Certain weight classes and builds are more survivable.
Stats should include K/D by weight class and Chassis
Stats should be broken into group Group and PUG stats
Stats for damage dealt and kills by weapon type should be included as well.
Stats for piloting trial mechs (just last night we had a trial PUG player get top score on the leaderboard, I didn't see which mech he was piloting, but it was an impressive feat regardless).

What I would really like to see is Community stats. What chassis is everyone playing, what weapons are people using and how much damage are they doing. Unfortunately that might lead to "Flavor of the Month" builds.
