whilest most new PCs do come in quad core variatys go back 2 years and that was not the case, most people cannot financally justify a new PC every 2 years (my last one lasted me 7 due to the fact that I was unemployed for 3 of those).
I am an IT professional, and when people bring me a 3 year old PC which is slow and ask me if they need to upgrade my answer is they should only upgrade when the PC no longer does what they need.

if the games specs say it will support dual core CPUs it should do so before it gets out of beta, but I see no need to fast track it unless a large preportion of the beta testers have dual core processors. however I must say the game runs fine on an AMD athalon II X3

Maybe after netcode gets fixed, which at this rate it looks like never.

This might be closer to the truth than anyone wants.

PS2 plays wonderfully on core 2 duo 6300 @2500 w/ 8 gigs ram and AMD 6850. It's butter tbh. 200 vs. 200 still 30fps. The bar has just raised for PGI. If fanbois will keep this game alive then good for PGI.

Myself as a non battletech fan who was looking for something better than WOT or EVE. I have to be honest. I loved this game until the economy nerf in CB. I got my refund thank goodness. I'm looking for the best return on my investment of time and money.

While WOT is a very fun game, which plays like butter on my rig too. They failed at clan wars. MWO promised better but have yet to deliver. EVE is just old without meaningful new content.

If any outfits are recruiting on east coast US servers PM me. I'll be there unless PGI wake up and smell the coffee.

just had a great ides, put the april first system requirements on the specifications page for "High Performance", I do not remember the exact specs but it was something along the lines of a dual CPU octo-core Ivy Bridge Xenon, 64GB of RAM, insane hard disk space, 3 of the latest GPUs in SLI or Crossfire (a build likely to cost around £5,000 and in case you had not guessed this was an april fools day prank), and this was to play the game in 256 colours and at 640x480 resolution.

with a disclamer that without this spec you may have problems playing the game at higher resolutions or detail levels

Why would we pay to upgrade when all the "OTHER" relevant games run fine?

Some of us just cant justify an upgrade for one game. I have to be able to play with with my E8400 and GTX 260 or I have to walk away with my money in my pocket. Its up to PGI to decide how imprtant it is to get my business.

I have a mortgage a wife thats just barely getting back to work due to 3yrs of illness, debt up to my eyeballs and now we're pregnant(happliy, but that means money is even tighter). So when someone flipantly and casually says,"just buy a new computer" it kindof sticks on my craw...some of us have responisbilities that dont allow for such expenses.

I get my computer is consider old...I accept that. But I wouldnt have a leg to stand on if it wasnt for the fact the devs stated they want our business and want the game to run smoothly and effectivly on the very system I own.

You apparently don't want to believe that people actually have nice jobs and can afford nice things, so you belittle them to make yourself feel better about your socioeconomic condition?

Your going to see improvements when you buy a modern computer.

You. Your attitude has been (redacted) me off for a few threads now. It's people like you that have turned me off from taking the MW universe more seriously ever since I got into it. Always the same elitist, arrogant, condescending attitude..well how about you understand this:

1. Everyone has their own lives. However people to enjoy this game, pugging or in premades, older pcs or new, whatever, they are no less than you and have the exactly same right to be here as you do. There is a gazillion reasons why they do it differently from you so get off your pedestal and learn some respect.

2. This game should not run as poorly as it does right now. I've stressed this in many threads before, the engine it uses and the resources it needs do not justify its current performance (or rather, lack thereof) on any machine.
Did you play Crysis 2? I'm guessing you didn't because if you did you'd know that that is the kind of performance we should be having here, that is where they took their minimum specs from and hopefully that is the kind of performance we will have in the future. I ran that game just fine at medium/high settings and yet I had to play this game on lowest detail even pre-patch.

There is no excuse whatsoever the devs can give other than poor optimization for MWO to be such a PITA to run smoothly. None. Proof of this is they haven't given us any. But I guess that stick up your (redacted) people like you have, blinds you so badly you'll only realize this when it gets so bad it finally gets to you. Which, with the arrival of DX11 would actually be pretty easy, hence the delays it's implementation has had.

What then? You'd get dual CPU? Quad sli...? Wouldn't help, and then the game would be screwed. Thankfully the devs are hard at work to avoid this from happening because it would obviously be the death of this game.

Now I get it, its still beta. I can deal with that. What I can't deal with is that right there ÎÎÎ

And for everyone else - where the pc market is at right now, you can stop debating because its completely irrelevant. This is a software problem, for the love of god just realize that already and let the devs work. My advice is do what I did: drop the game for a while, just keep checking on progress regularly.

Man, if you had at least a spark of decency, you would at one point simply shut up.
Unfortunately, that douchebag in your sig seems to be your role model.
Way to go dude. I hope PGI are proud to have such .. 'virtuous' supporters.

When have I supported PGI lately?Pointing out that an obsolete computer is obsolete is not being a pgi fanboy. If you have actually read my other posts you'd see there's plenty I'm pissed at PGI about.

I think that one of the things that the people who say that other Crytek Engine games run fine on their computers forget is that this game has a LOT more going on under the hood than your typical shooter. I'm amazed that the game can even run at all on most systems.

I also see no mention in this thread about how the GPU is being under-utilized. Does anyone know if this is true? I heard (rumor) that the game hardly uses the GPU at all and that they haven't finished the DX10 and 11 optimizations yet. We do know that DX 10 and 11 are placeholders in the options menu, but haven't been implemented yet. We are just running with DX9 right now, and I would be willing to bet it is just a software emulation with little to no hardware usage. It seems that once some of the heavy lifting can be better handled by the GPUs, we will all have a pretty smooth and sweet game.
As lame and over-used as it is, I think in this case, we should say "it's only beta"
;)

One thing I do know is that Nvidia's involvement is a bad idea if even their cards can't run the game at a decent level. You would think that they would not want PGI giving them a bad reputation. If I were Nvidia, I would be putting big time pressure on them to get those frames up. Apparently there are plenty of people with mid to high range Nvidia hardware that are choking on this game. Not cool, and not good for business.

I was thinking about this the other day, PGI hasn't come out and said they aren't going to do anything about this (They've said the opposite), so that's very good. It's still 'technically' beta and they are working on it, so they do have slack.

But...I really want to them to hurry up :/

Another quirk I have noticed is that the game runs better on my 32 bit version of Win 7 than it does in 64. I have a dual boot setup with the exact same hardware and drivers. The only difference is W7-64 is on my SSD, and W7-32 is on my HDD. I know it's not very practical for everyone to install W7-32 to test this, but I'm curious: Do the 32 bit players have the same performance issues?
