Another build I tried and liked was 2xAC10s and 2xLLs. Excellent for keeping back at a distance and bunkering in.

The 4x AC/2 build is silly fun, but probably not all that terribly effective. I've had good runs with it, but you just have to expose yourself too long to streakcats and AC/20's and whatnot. It does brutal DPS, it really does, but has a bit of heat trouble and kind of sprays the damage all over in hectic fights. Biggest problem right now seems to be figuring out how to maximize DPS with 4x AC/2 - 3x AC/2 was easy enough; group 1 is all three, group 4,5,6 were 1 each; press 4-5-6 in rapid succession then hold down 1, voila, max ROF.

A buddy does more than fine in a quad AC-5 build and is - somehow - even faster than my dakkaphract. I'm guessing no backup weapons, less armor, and/or no AMS? Dunno.

I tried the 2x AC/2, 2x AC/5 and couldn't get the feel for it. Still did OK damage, but just did not feel right for me.

But, basically, don't play it like a turret (I'm still fighting the tendency myself.) Move from perch to perch, or killzone to killzone, and focus your fire with other teammates. Obviously this 'mech requires better aim than many, to make each shot count. The quad AC/5's can take things down on their own fast, while the quad AC/2's don't take much longer but enough that you are at higher risk.

Try not to be the guy taking fire. Easier said than done right now, with the hierarchy of priority target calling basically being Streakapult > Gaussapult / AC/20 Cat > Cataphract right now.

I've been playing with ES and XL215 (from my raven), it can be confed both as 2xAC5 + 2xUAC5, or as my current favourite:

-2xGauss rifles with 6 tons of ammo
-ML+SL in center torso
-SSRM2 in head with a ton of ammo

Full armor (-2pts)

Dual gaus with enough backup to convince lights to move along to easier targets (plus commandoes seem to suck those double Gauss hits in XD )

Speed is the only drawback, so you really dont want to be alone, but pairing up with atlases or awesomes works wonders :(

Anyone put up any quad AC/2 builds on youtube? Would love to see your guys versions of our quad AC5/AC2/etc builds. (Banky - I'll let KyleL know you use his build, he'll be thrilled :))

My quad AC2 was a 200 XL, 10 tons of ammo, two ML, max armor everywhere except legs, and the rest into double HS. I played it until I was 2 of 4 on the elites, then switched it into a Gaussaphract, and never looked back.

And I would love to see the announced "anti-boating-nerfs" for Streaks will come for ALL weapons. Surely 6*SSRM is annoying, but 4*AC2 too. Same rights for all.

http://mwomercs.com/...apon-balancing/

And I would love Piranha would stop all tweaks on weapons until netcode works properly.
http://mwomercs.com/...t-code-roadmap/

Surely its not easy to hit with ballistic weapons atm, but the problem is not a to low projectilespeed what needs a buff, problem is rubberbanding and warping. And a european server is needed, 150ms ping vs. 30ms ping for american players is a feelable disadvantage what affects aiming with ballisic weapons too.

I ran a Cata 4x with 4x AC 5's and 2 UAC 5 + 2 AC 5. It was fun, but I'm a lousy Shot. Still my first experience was Shooting an Arm off a mech with light armor on the arm, then Killing him on the second Volley probobly because of again low armor on his torso. But it was still a "HOLY CRAP! AWESOME!" moment for me. :)

I must say, the one thing I like about MWO is that no one mech and no one spec is better at everything than the next, and each one has a things it's better at than others. If I had a dollar for everytime a 35ton Jenner cored out the back of my 80 ton Awesome because he's setup for ranged damage and I was found out, I'd be... well, I'd definitely have a few more dollars.

The trick is building your mech the way you intend to use it, and to make sure you use it in the way intended. If you build it to be an LRM boat, rushing into close combat is a very bad idea. And vice versa.

I have to try loading some AC2 into my mech like you've done. Two Ultra ACs seem superior to everything in this patch, so I wonder what adding a bit of AC2 suppression will do. ;)

I have tried a number of builds and so far I like 3x AC/5 and a Large Laser. I use Endo-steel and DHS. Due to the low heat of the AC/5s it allows me to use the large laser as much as I want to supplement damage.

I do not use chain fire on the AC/5s but instead use 2 weapon groups to keep them staggered that way if I need all three at an instant I have no issue doing so.

Mine is Stadard 235 Engine

2x AC/10
2x Medium Pulse Laser

Good for me, can not complain about my built, but im just wondering about 4x AC/5 now.

It depends from your gameplay style :)

4x AC/2, 6 tons ammo (have only run out of ammo once.)
2x MPulse
AMS + 1 Ton Ammo
XL 250
ES, DHS, 15 Total Heat Sinks, max armor (-2 on legs.)

I think that is it, anywho.

I'd love to. In fact I'll get right on it when I get my 40+ fps from closed beta back (currently single digits when it really matters, and barely cracks the 20s standing still) and netcode is fixed. :(

Sorry, had to jerk your chain a little. :(

LOL... I'm assuming you mean the AC10 build - since everyone uses the gaussaphract one? I love the AC10. I know... people will call me crazy, but on any mech where you're running a gauss and a medium laser, you can run the AC10 and a large laser instead with the weight you save. The damage pretty much evens out, and you get a better ROF.

Maybe not the best video but it is not that uncommon to get "such fun with the cata".

anyone messed around with 2 lbx-10's and ac 2's on chain fire? might be a little low on ammo but if there is enough tonnage to spare it i think it would be kinda fun, im gonna experiment

I'd like to point out, don't chain fire AC2s. The chain fire delay is slower than the weapon cool down. So either tap really fast, or group fire them.

With my trusty 4X, I usually group the left arm weapons on left mouse button, and right arm weapons on right mouse button. Makes it easy to pop out of corners to get shots in, and equally easy to click both sets for an alpha.

I use to run the quad AC2, which theoretically has very high damage per second (the 2 rounds per second is wrong, it's more like 1.4 round per second). The problem is, found I spread damage around too much and wasn't very effective taking out components or getting critical hits. I've since switched to quad AC5, and find I get lower damage, more more component destructions / kills.

Here's my build. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...65cb373b6a48655

Max standard engine, quad AC5, medium laser in case I run out of ammo (pace yourself), and 376 FF armor. I had so many slots left, I went ahead and put in FF.

It's good medium to short range.

I had a similar build, but ended up removing the XL engine as it was so vulnerable.
