So, when am I going to beable to use my Extreme 3d Pro or Steel Battalion controller without EXTENSIVE time put in to set up the device?

Also when is the Digital "On/Off" for torso going to be changed, all input should be considered Analog.

Seriously, I just played Mechwarrior 3 with a joystick and it was a BLAST!

The fact is, joystick users are a minority. There are issues right now affecting all users, and that's always going to take precidence over a minority of users.

Ease of use joystick support has been included in EVERY iteration of Mechwarrior to date save for Mechwarrior 1.

Not having it feels like a serious step backwards, and let's not forget that they're partnered with Razer to produce the "Razer Artemis" which is a joystick/throttle device itself.

It just feels like this is woefully missing.

They can't even get the mousewheel to work properly on here and you want the joystick fixed? You're dreaming.

I'm not saying you won't get joystick support, but there are simply larger issues that need to be addressed first.

I approve of this question: When can we see full support for our gamepads/flight sticks/Hotas?

They already have $60-120 from all the hardcore players that would be interested in a more complete sim experience, and joystick support is not something they can charge MC for, so I wouldn't count on seeing it for a long while. Notice how all the content added so far has been something you can buy (Mechs for MC, Artemis/FF being unsustainable without premium)? Notice how upcoming content roadmap is almost exclusively skins/paintjobs for MC, with new map that's been promised only has a 30% chance? You think it's a coincidence that bugs don't get priority, DX11 and netcode is a "top engineering priority" yet nothing ever gets fixed? UAC/5 gets hotfixed in a day but streaks still reign supreme (ammo for uac only 9,000 cbils per ton, while streaks are 54,000 per ton).

It may sound like tin-foil hat theorys, but if you can't read the writing on the wall, then I have nothing.

You are spot on....it is "woefully missing"

Maybe if posts such as this keep going the devs will pay attention. (some day :) )

If you use a flightstick for game immersion, then you will get immersion alright...
.
You will get immersed in lasers to your face, and broken flight-sticks from rage quiting and throwing the flight-stick across the room.
.
It would be neat if this game could "ONLY" be played with a flight-stick control setup, but it isn't, and the mouse and keyboard are faster/more precise than "ANYONE" will ever be with a flight-stick... End of Story.

It's on the list, probably won't happen until closer to launch

Devs use joysticks too, it will happen :)

One of the reasons I looked forward to this game was the opportunity to dust off the old stick and throttle. Unfortunately, I'm afraid to even try it right now based on what I've read on these forums. Instead I stick to the mouse and keyboard. Not to say the latter is bad, it works well enough, it's just not as fun.

I think for true min-max sake a separate throttle and mouse is probably the best way to play this game.

And over a decade ago (the last time a MW game was created) it was common for PC user to have joysticks (often elaborate ones); there were tons of games that used them.

Since then ... not so much. The de facto standard for PC games has become Keyboard+mouse with FPS and RTS games dominating the market.

Sad, but true.

Heh, if you think at this point that 'Artemis' is ever going to really exist, I have a bridge for sale. It's very nice - only used on Sundays.

And that's not to mention that their 'arms move separately from torso' control scheme is simply not well suited for joysticks.

a left hand joystick controlling throttle/turning, paired with a mouse for aiming is better than keyboard/mouse imo

it will be even better once we get analogue turning

The Dev's have already commented on this as, "A low priority item" but it will at something down the line be fixed.

OP, you're asking for configurable joystick support and analog inputs from a team that can not introduce adjustable mouse sensitivity and remapping of all keyboard controls for months. Are you for real?

.
And using a gamepad/controller (left thumb wheel only) along with the mouse is even faster/more precise..."PERIOD"
(no I do not hold the controller in the air)
.
7 FPS servers retired at #1 slot is all the proof needed... Something called the (Split Fish) was designed for consoles to mimic "EXACTLY" what im talking about, and I was doing this in 2007...
.
Flight Sticks have much more "travel" time to move the stick left and right then a short thumbwheel.... This is also the reason for car manual shifters for "Sports" cars having a shorter "stick" with less travel time compared to a truck with a longer stick, and more travel time. Also the mouse cannot be beaten for aiming.
.
The End

The official response to this is when the game comes out of beta. This is basically the last item on their list.

Edit: I use a T.Flight Hotas X with a RAT 7 for controlling my 'mechs. You can't see it from the back, but there is another rudder/axis control on the front of the throttle. I map my 'mech turning to that axis. Between the mouse and the throttle buttons I can map fire groups 1-5, override, next target, overlay, zoom, and my push to talk. My hands never leave my joystick or mouse the entire round and I have much better control over my throttle. I never have to look at my HUD throttle indicator to see where it's at.

So this is basically the biggest complaint I have with this game. Only a small % play with a joystick, youre kidding right? I've used one in every mech game. And guess what, they had joystik in MPBT 3025. I wish they'd drop everything else right now and put it in.

Let me say this - I went into the game files and programmed the game such that I can use my mouse and throttle off my HOTAS no problem.

If it's as easy as that (and adding analog input for aiming with a joystick), it should have been done already, if only to satiate the 'tiny minority' of players (it's definitely more than that).

That said, I've noticed both the immersive and gameplay experiences have gone up dramatically for me since then. First time I've played MW with a joystick, and I've been playing since MW2.

Hahahaha, just read the response - almost exactly what I do, just a different mouse.
