Also when is the Digital "On/Off" for torso going to be changed, all input should be considered Analog.
Seriously, I just played Mechwarrior 3 with a joystick and it was a BLAST!

Ease of use joystick support has been included in EVERY iteration of Mechwarrior to date save for Mechwarrior 1.
Not having it feels like a serious step backwards, and let's not forget that they're partnered with Razer to produce the "Razer Artemis" which is a joystick/throttle device itself.
It just feels like this is woefully missing.

I'm not saying you won't get joystick support, but there are simply larger issues that need to be addressed first.

It may sound like tin-foil hat theorys, but if you can't read the writing on the wall, then I have nothing.

You are spot on....it is "woefully missing"
Maybe if posts such as this keep going the devs will pay attention. (some day

.
You will get immersed in lasers to your face, and broken flight-sticks from rage quiting and throwing the flight-stick across the room.
.
It would be neat if this game could "ONLY" be played with a flight-stick control setup, but it isn't, and the mouse and keyboard are faster/more precise than "ANYONE" will ever be with a flight-stick... End of Story.

I think for true min-max sake a separate throttle and mouse is probably the best way to play this game.

And over a decade ago (the last time a MW game was created) it was common for PC user to have joysticks (often elaborate ones); there were tons of games that used them.
Since then ... not so much. The de facto standard for PC games has become Keyboard+mouse with FPS and RTS games dominating the market.
Sad, but true.

Heh, if you think at this point that 'Artemis' is ever going to really exist, I have a bridge for sale. It's very nice - only used on Sundays.
And that's not to mention that their 'arms move separately from torso' control scheme is simply not well suited for joysticks.

And using a gamepad/controller (left thumb wheel only) along with the mouse is even faster/more precise..."PERIOD"
(no I do not hold the controller in the air)
.
7 FPS servers retired at #1 slot is all the proof needed... Something called the (Split Fish) was designed for consoles to mimic "EXACTLY" what im talking about, and I was doing this in 2007...
.
Flight Sticks have much more "travel" time to move the stick left and right then a short thumbwheel.... This is also the reason for car manual shifters for "Sports" cars having a shorter "stick" with less travel time compared to a truck with a longer stick, and more travel time. Also the mouse cannot be beaten for aiming.
.
The End

Edit: I use a T.Flight Hotas X with a RAT 7 for controlling my 'mechs. You can't see it from the back, but there is another rudder/axis control on the front of the throttle. I map my 'mech turning to that axis. Between the mouse and the throttle buttons I can map fire groups 1-5, override, next target, overlay, zoom, and my push to talk. My hands never leave my joystick or mouse the entire round and I have much better control over my throttle. I never have to look at my HUD throttle indicator to see where it's at.

If it's as easy as that (and adding analog input for aiming with a joystick), it should have been done already, if only to satiate the 'tiny minority' of players (it's definitely more than that).
That said, I've noticed both the immersive and gameplay experiences have gone up dramatically for me since then. First time I've played MW with a joystick, and I've been playing since MW2.
