Suicide bots on your team are annoying. This we can ALL agree on.
A gold founder premade and a pug know this.
To fix this problem, PGI has said to report them, and something will be done, "we promise".
Under no circumstance are we to name them and warn people about them.
Reported people are banned from the forum for a while; ineffective but we still can't do anything.
"No good can come of it."
I propose a different, more direct method to deal with these griefers.
Shoot their side torsos out and then their left leg. No weapons and a lot of repair costs.
Meanwhile you're down a member... that you'd be without regardless.

Don't kill them.
Undertand this.
Killing them leads to your own cost more than you need.
Everyone should aim for the weapon ports to stop access to most energy weapons.
Now, this may sound mean-spirited, but once you're regularly facing it, you'll care less.
Useless report functions don't stop them, and this gives a little bit of a message:
Karma has come for your actions.
Even the most cocksure scripter will notice a dip in AFK profit if we all do this together.
My brothers, let us assist their suicides.

You are assuming these people bother with repairs or have anything equipped.

Yes I have noticed a massive increase in suicide botters so they can make money. They do not care if they die because they bring in a cheap mech with no arms and missing a leg and get full money win or lose.

A solution might be: Code in if a player kills himself he/she get no C bills. Quick and easy solution.

If you shoot off the energy weapons of known overheat botters at the beginning of the match, they won't be able to overheat, and will leave the match while still alive (and thus earn no c-bills for that match).

My solution is better in the long run.

The reporting hasn't had much of an effect, if any. Until I hear otherwise I'm ignoring that guideline. But your link does give good words, so you get a like. =)

Tarrys, the only problem with your solution is that you assume PGI can code that stuff in. I have seen no evidence to indicate they can. A more workable solution right now, would be to remove all cbill rewards for suicides. Yes, that means sometimes legitimate suicides by accident would mean no payout, but that would be better than the current situation. This, PGI can code.

I think we'd be better off fixing people who make assumptions they can't back up with evidence.

Still, they can run straight against the enemy team and die pretty quickly.
Punishing then won't solve the problem, they need to fix the reward system, but that's has been a looong discussion since closed beta, and the system stays the same.

I really feel sorry for those who feel the need to suicide farm and other methods of cbill earning without fighting. The reason being is they are not learning anything.

Once they get enough cbills to buy the mech they feel will let them dominate the battlefield, they'll be taken apart by everyone else who has played and gained the skills needed to be good at this game.

They're shorting themselves as well as making me a better pilot. You can only get better by facing a better opponent. When my side is down a mech, either from farmers or glitched mechs, it ramps up the challenge. My chances of winning will be decreased, but win or lose, I'm gaining valuable knowledge.

What of players who drop in game and spam their weapons until they explode? I had a trial Atlas drop in front of me in Forest Colony. As soon as the match started he proceeded to Alpha until he blew himself up and then disconnected.

My solution suggest remove the win/loss bonus which would solve the suicide problem. :(

So then they will go out of bounds.

The post explains not to kill the AFK suiciders. The problem was he was already dead (by his own means) and disconnected. The question now is, does any damage done to his fallen mech actually register?

Not when they're bots made to look up and shoot everything.

Yes. But I haven't had to pay for the damage for the whole time I'm doing it. I think they've taken that out.
You just lose stuff for making a team KILL, not a team maining. Because we're all babbies who can't avoid friendly fire from time to time.

Or minimize it. The win/loss bonus has too much effect. You could AFK or suicide for a winning team and make more than doing your best and dying in a close fought battle, which is just wrong. The experience gains for winning vs. in game actions are even more skewed.

Well I would like to see something a little more discouraging to them

Does said mech just start firing until overheat and boom? Yes = -30,000 Cbills, -1000 MXP is -100 GXP
Does the mech go out of bounds in the first 2 minutes? Yes = -30,000 Cbills, -1000 MXP is -100 GXP
