Please attempt to respond to the following questions in your responses:
  • How had the patch generally affected your performance?
Worse, big time.
  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
In general my frame rate is higher if moving around the map with just the scenery in view. If there are mechs and fighting going on my frame rate drops and any time that happens then there are huge delays from when I press fire to when my weapons actually fire.

In some games, by a freak accident I get a kill, and never saw that my weapons fired. One game I literally counted 15 secs between the time I pressed fire and when my weapon fired.

What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?

Low, medium, high, all the same. I was on low right before the patch and did not change it from low when the patch came out and the lowered performance was evident without changing any settings.
  • Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
When walking out from the base at the beginning of a match am at about 60fps, when the shooting starts, 25 fps.

AMD Phenom I X4 9850 @ 2.5Ghz
ATI HD 5770
4 Gigs DDR2 Ram
Windows 7 x 64

Patch(es) have not made gameplay any closer to stable (30 fps all round).
I continue to run on all low settings, AA OFF, V-SYNC OFF.

FPS is 40 when standing, let me tell you when it's NOT 40 fps.
Framerate drops to 15 when I zoom in.
Framerate drops to 15 when I turn left. Or right. Or whenever the camera has to move.
Framerate drops to 15 when I get hit by anything.
Framerate drops to 15 when I see my entire team.
Framerate drops to 15 when I look any direction that's not straight ahead.
Framerate drops to 15 when I shoot most things.
Framerate drops to 15 when light mechs circle around me, scoring perfect center torso hits because I can't see/shoot them
Framerate drops to 15 when doing just about anything.

But I do get 60 fps in menu.

I've been beta testing since the invites went out in the summer, and I had countless, blissfull, joyous matches of stable framerates throughout all the match. Then they introduced the new version of Cryengine 3, and everything has gone to crap.

I could spend my money to upgrade my rig, but then I couldn't spend money on the game. In addition, there are tons of other free to play titles out there grabbing attention that run very well on my modest-at-best rig. PGI, let me tell you who I will give my money to if this game doesn't become more stable.

Planetside 2.
Tribes 2.
Heroes and Generals.

All free to play games that run fantastically on my rig. You have competition, PGI.

Seems like I can play about 5ish games a day without running into this issue, but after that it is rampant for the following games (I have played 3 games with the issue to see if it was intermittent but it was not).

I don't know what my fps actually drops to, but it is unplayable.

When you are getting anywhere between 1 and 60 fps, you know there's a problem with the game.

When Launch is pressed, black screen to load menu, then the picture starts to flicker repeatedly horizontally...loads into game and brings up players and continues to flicker. All my settings are set at very high with V-sync enabled. Running Phenom II Black Edition 965 3.4 quad core proc, New Fatal1ty 990FX Motherboard, 16 GB G-Skill Ripjaws X series memory, H-50 Liquid cooler for processor (runs at 82 degrees F under full load) Crossfire w 2XAMD Radeon HD 6870 Series w Ice Q cooling, and New Creative "Wrath" Wireless headphones. Have updated all latest drivers and re-installed the game to no avail. Please help.

  • How had the patch generally affected your performance? The game is basically unplayable for me atm. No tweak or setting has given me above 15fps(when in combat) with this patch. I cannot play the game at all right now.
  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes. If I stand still, not in combat, no other mechs on my screen I can hit about 30fps. But the second I move or anything happens at all on my screen I instantly shoot down to about 15fps which makes the game totally unplayable.
  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch? Low/Med settings. Have not changed these settings since CB. The last 2-3 patches have dropped my performance down to unmanageble levels.
  • Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS) 15fps while in a match, 40FPS in menus/mech lab.
  • System specs (You can include them in a [spoiler] [ /spoiler]) Pentium® Dual-Core CPU E6500 @ 2.93GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450, 4.00 GB
  • Your advertised internet connection speed / Geographic location Conenction is fine. Cox cable high speed. In Chandler, Arizona.

You have done a great job with this game so far. But right now you have taken about 10 steps back. The last patch really should have addressed the 30+ pages of performance issues instead of tweaking weapon dmg etc. We need to actually be able to play your game before you can make adjustments to gameplay. Please fix the performance issues! You have an AWESOME game right now but if only a handful of people can play it your game is going to take a nose dive really fast. And that would just be sad because you have put so much effort into this project. Thanks and keep up the good work

I'd just like to press that I invested in a 7850 over my 5770 to see if this affected my framerates during battle. I was hoping the complaints were a matter of wrong expectations from the 'minimum requirements.'

I was completely wrong, and now want my fglrx compatible card back. :P

No discernible performance change. Worst fps is in Forest colony areas(lowest is 20), but it usually averages around 40-60. Others levels also stay in the 40-60 range. Settings are on high to very high(No AA). Regarding the 4fps bug, I hadn't had it occur until I had played with some of the settings to get higher fps. It was shading being on the medium setting that made it happen to me. Changed it back to very high, haven't had it happen since.

asus gtx 560 ti

Just adding my feedback to the general... Since patch, I have had three games with serious graphic issues. All my settings are the same. But in two games I had was I can only describe as a Yellow Hell load. It seems the layers only partially load, and everything is yellow. No HUD features, so I can't tell friend from foe, or aim very accurately. Once was in a HBK, the other in a Centurion.
The third game with issues, my minimap failed to load, and my arm reticle was skewed to the extreme left. My actual fire was forward. More workable than the other glitch, and at first I thought that maybe they were simulating a breakdown in these ancient beasts of war.
I am running an AMD Athlon II x4, and a Radeon 6770. I haven't had issues like this at all, and haven't had any other issues once I worked out the problem in my network.

i dont know what it was but after reinstalling the game and updating my gaphics driver even forest colony is playable now.
i think there is something wrong with the patcher and a clear install could help with performance issues.

  • How had the patch generally affected your performance?
No change from the state after 1.0.150 (still next to unplayable)
  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
Performance continues to drop, when I or others do things. Like walking and shooting.
  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
Medium and no change, because the game used to run fine on those settings.
  • Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
FPS for both this and the last patch:

Menu: 60fps; ingame (no action): 30 to 40 fps; ingame (action): 10 to 20 fps.

system specs:

intel 2500k @ 4.0 Ghz (cpu load is 55% all time, one core is @ 85% load)
8 GB DDR3/1600
128 GB SSD, 50% free space, temp folder on this drive
AMD 5850 1GB 725/1000 Mhz
cata 12.8

running game in window mode @ 1280x800 (27" monitor)
medium stetting, execpt texture @ high, txaa off (naturally in windows mode)

60 fps all time, except a few scenes on river city on total overview.

monitoring gpu (with gpu-z) load all time, mostly 75% - 95%
over 95% framerate drops to 43fps min.

on round start, memory use is mostly 350 MB, raising to 989 MB at the end of each round, when whole map is explored. framerate is still @ 60fps most times.

no frame drops , performance was increased with every patch.

any setting increased to high causes significant raise on gpu load, without truly optic advantage.
fps can not be hold @ 60 fps. limit of my card is found for me.

i hope a newer 7850 2GB let me play at higher settings. january will bring it to me.

graphics seems to be smoother since patch, framerate more stable.
but more i think this comes from reworked animations an better network lag compensation.

aiming is better, even with my ping 120 ms, from germany. would never try to play a ego shooter with that ping, in mwo it works well (nice aim, triple ac/2 @ 700 meters when moving at 93 km/h)

like works PGI is doing, keep on !

FPS remain godaweful.

Every single patch that adds new content = frame rate drop. Meaning I cant play at all

Previous patch got me 25-30fps on the lowest possible settings with motion blur and AA off

No, random fps drops even when standing still facing a wall

Still on the lowest settings, just like the previous patch

My frame rate jumps between 4-30fps, but it mostly stays @ 10fps

Does anyone know of a program to run that monitors CPU, GPU, and RAM Load with an overlay that can be seen in game?

try gpu-z, cpu-z or pc wizard. they wont be visible in game but they have graphs and you can alt-tab out to look at what happened some time ago

I don't think that full reinstall is necessary, try deleting all content in MechWarrior Online\USER\Shaders\Cache directory and launch mwoclient.exe again and see if it helps.

that exactly worked like for 5 matches... only the reinstall of the whole game fixed most performance issues for me... like i said above, my guess is, that patch after patch after patch the game collected some "trash", dunno... that´s what it seems like to me... and not to be the case for everyone though

After the usual complete reinstall, this patch didn't make my fps worse.
But still much worse than it was before 20th.
Now I have 30-40 when standing still, and watching the empty landscape. As soon something starts to move, it dives to about 15, and in the thick of a fight, it goes to almost slideshow mode.
Before 20th it was 25-30 on a silent landscape, but it didn't went below 15 even in the biggest close quarters slugfest.

So no change on the performance? Well, I won't even bother then. Figured I could start recording some matches again but guess I'll have to wait.

PLEASE work on the performance now... this game NEEDS IT!

Update: after a reinstall I’m up to a nearly playable level and this did not help last patch. Game is still dropping into the low teens when engaging multiple enemies.

Would also like to note that with last patch I gained about 5fps by switching from windows 7 to windows 8.
