For the record, I REALLY want to buy a paint job for my Cicada, but I am hesitant, if not unwilling to do so with the knowledge that I can't swap them out. Skins and optional paid content in other f2p titles (see LoL) have a major precedent for this. Keeping in line with that paradigm would allow players to 'suit up' with a group, whereas now in order to do so they would have to keep it in place, or pay redundantly.
As of now I'll stick with my PC Gamer skin and coconut monkey.

yeah, Stickin' with the PCG Skin for now, too.
As for the rest of your post:
I kind of get your point, but seriously:
People are allready pissed by the bugs that stick arround for ages and they will be pissed even more by this rip off marketing tactics. We are supposed to provide feedback, here it is.
I want this game to suceed, but with this i have pretty much lost all interest in it. It's ******* me off.
I could stick with the bugs, i could stick with 4 maps for ages, i could stick with gaus and ac/20 catapults, i could stick with lagshied, but this... it's ********!
edit: what i would be ok with, if i had to pay some C-Bills, everytime i swap the stuff, but not paying MC over and over again for things that i allready bought

yep, i took a huge step away from buying MC today. It's a shame, but with the current model, i will gladly spend my money on other games

They should raise the cost for buying a particular Camo for the first time but then allow the repainting for C-Bills only. (I could even see them requiring to rebuy it once for every mech. )
My problem was that I didn't really find anything that I liked. When will we get the Closed Beta Atlas Skinn with the glowing eyes back?

a) If I buy a camo spec for a mech(model) it should be permanent available and I should be able to swap among my bought camo specs for the specific mech(model)
I want a color picker to really FREELY choose colors!
c) Repainting / changing camo may cost ingame money (normal credits, no mc), that's fine.
My 2 cents so far.

You can apply this color to your mech, it changes nothing, but charges you CB (fortunatelly not MC):
This means almost 1 milion CB down the drain.

WAY WAY WAY overpriced in both C-Bills and MCreds.
I played dozens of matches since the patch and guess what? No custom paint jobs were seen except Yen Lo Wang's and a few founders colours.
How are you gonna get bugs Id's with nobody using a feature? For the Beta at least lower the price of c-bill paint jobs and or allow us one "free " re spray per owned Mech maybe? Just to get folks into it. I think Less than 100K per layer is better - again at least for the Beta.
Also I only have a pair of lights and a Heavy but I observed the price to spray over a 7M mech and a 9M mech is the same - really? I mean I'm not meaning to go totally the sims here but that grated a bit given the super high price per paint layer. Surely the bigger Mechs could cost more to paint than a Light but at 300K a go no way will it get a high take up rate methinks.
Also as we have no control over what map we do isn't camo paint a bit of a silly concept at present? Custom paint I can see working yes as its adopters will be disdaining the slight opportunity to hide for a bold statement. But I don't fancy (at any price) doing up a snazzy Winter camo then rolling around in Caustic looking like a (pre deleted)

I am okay with basic colors and their CBill costs, but I think there should be at least 2-3 more colors there, maybe more when patches come.
I am also okay with having to pay MC for patterns and extra colors, but 1) they should be ownable and available for every mech that can have them and 2) they should cost very little MC, like 100-200 at best.
"Why?" would the developers ask. Well, vanity items are the best moneysink in most f2p-games, as vanity doesn't affect game balance and make the game p2win. But when vanity costs less, more players will easily buy it. Now, a f2p-player who spends a couple bucks for the smallest MC-package will end up buying mech slots and perhaps 1 light mech or xp-convert. There is absolutely no room to buy vanity, especially when you don't really get to keep it. To get this kind of player to spend more money, you need permanent vanity and perhaps even smaller MC-packages.
Also, I think the game should reward objective-oriented play with vanity. Are you a master light pilot who has unlocked 3 different light mechs up to Master? Get a special pattern and a couple colors! Or perhaps you've spotted a 1000 mechs? Get a special pattern for this too! Then patterns and colors won't be just silly rich kid's toys that serious mechwarriors laugh at, they'll be a way to show your status as a competent veteran pilot.
I for one will not be paying MC for the colors in their current state. I will use PCG and basic colors and that's it.
By the way, as far as I've seen, like 90% of the mechs in the field are either dull green or black-gray color thanks to this ridicilous try at ripping us off. I don't think MWO community has many people who care about colors enough to pay for them, not to mention paying for them when you can't even keep them. Besides, all the bright colors will just make you an easier target. It's like having a target painted on you - maybe you could implement that as a skin and charge 1000 mc for just that so we can see the biggest dumbasses from far away.

The issue is not so much the re charging but the hideous OVER charging of the paint job IMOHO. I kinda see the point about the patterning thing being bought permanently for the current price, mind you, but again if it were cheap enough I think even that would be manageable.

When I buy
some mech with MC,
mechbay with MC,
Bobblehead item with MC,
I keep it.
When I buy premium time with MC, I keep it until the delay last.
Why by the sake of god cant I keep the paintjob I just buy ? That awful, way worse than having to repay upgrades for switching back (at least, its only CB).
No mention the CBills prices of colors... Why on earth PGI think that a single color worth more than two victories gains ? Or a complete endo-steel upgrade ?
What is this new meaningless money-blackhole supposed to be ?
Listen my advice :
Makes MC-purchased items permanent and reusable.
Throw them with lower prices, that will greatly encourage micro-transactions and more players (including me who have already given you much more of my money than an average game costs) may be interested by buying MC items...
In current state, especially in beta, there no way I give you 3 dollars for splashing ONE non-permanent COLOR on ONE mech. Better play my founder ones or a default color...
Also, if there is no way to choose our paintjob function of the played map (like preselect ones per map, assigned by the player), why bothering with any camo attempt at all ?
Currently better make them free, or they will never be used until release. Just saying...

but they have to make money somehow.. i guess many of the founders still have way too many MC on the account and its not a must have.. so i guess they can do whatever they want.
