We currently have 6 playable factions. And what a coincidence - in RGB color model we also have 3 basic (RGB) and 3 secondary (CMY) colors. And in BT universe these colors are used to designate said factions on the Inner Sphere map.
Red for Kurita, Draconis Combine. Yellow (Gold) for Davion, Federated Suns. Green for Liao, Capellan Confederation. Cyan for Free Rasalhague Republic. Blue for Steiner, Lyran Commonwealth. Purple for Marik, Free Worlds League.
We currently have five basic colors purchasable for CBills. Red, Orange, Green, Blue and Purple. I ask for addition of sixth basic color Cyan and replacement of basic Orange with Yellow (or Gold).

but in game the top of its torso looks like this:
Note that, for some reason, the entire top part of its center torso is a blocky looking grayish color, whereas on my design, PCgamer black is the only dark color, and its on the tertiary channel.
I noticed this same issue with my much brighter previous paint job. The top of my torso still looked gray.

Don't you see the downward spiral that is about to start, ?
-Founder's program ended, (Earned over 5Millions $$)
-Collisions removed and some performances issue begin to be witnessed
-End of the closed beat (and of the milk cow called the founders program)
-Opened Beta start, Devoloppement continue (costing $$)
Upgrades are implanted, but requires C-Bills to switch between them.
Now is the point I think PGI is starting of having financial issues
Premium package arent selling (my guess, because it's so expensive for a few play time in a buggy Beta environement, so people are holding their breath before buying them)
Financial issue is increasing
Camos Spec are implanted, but cost lot of MC, and are not permanent, if you switch them, you loose them.
(That way they can milk some wealthy cows and maybe solve some of the financial issue) But on the other hand they risk of loosing the less wealthy player bases because they start feeling ripped off in a game with no real progress in stability and playability (Still one kind of mach, Collision are still disabled, we are still stuck in 4 man group, etc...)
Now what will happens
The wealthy will have thier toys and be happy, no more need to spend.
A good base of player might have quit, and won't witness the improvement made to the game, improvement that might have encouraged them to spend money on Premium/Vanity.
The wealthy will get bored of a low players basis...
That's what's I think it's awaiting the game if nothing is done to make the game more enjoyable(Stable and Fun).

As well, anything I do purchase should be permanent. Premium time I count as permanent due to increased XP/CBill gain during that time (I don't lose XP or Cbills when the time ends).
Back on topic, I don't agree with "permanent until you change a color". I might agree with "permanent per mech" (unlocking Franken or Dazzle on a specific mech "keeps" that camo scheme).
Ideally, the camo scheme should go like this to maximize the amount of revenue from this service:
- Camo "Schemes" are unlocked on a per-mech basis. Cost: 250 MC, 300 MC for "premium" schemes.
- Color palettes are unlocked on an account, unlimited uses. "Premium" palette could go for 500MC, urban for 250 MC, etc. but once purchased, those colors can be used on any mech in your mechbays. Non-premium colors could be unlocked with Cbills.
As well, when we are able to chose which map we drop in, players may (as would any mechwarrior) color their mech based on the environment (whites for snow maps, green for forest, browns for caustic). Charging each switch-up just would be insane as far as a money sink. About 1 in 100 people will purchase a new paintjob for each map (Looking at an income of, say, $10.00 out of 100 players). Whereas if you charged for the palette, you'd see people spending MC to get urban, snow, etc. probably at the rate of 2-3 out of five. If each palette costs $3 to unlock, then you'd see an income of (5 palettes x $3.00 = $15.00 x 3) $45.00 income. This is just a wild-arse guess, but I'm pretty sure it's closer than not. Even if it's $45.00 out of 100 players, that's still a better number than the current option.

i love how i come back from dinner after this post, only to see that it is now pinned, even with my typos.
edit: so someone is reading this, at least, thumbs up for that
btt:
to provide some feedback, that goes further than my ******** posts about the rip off so far:
I see 2 ways to implement this, without letting it feel liek a rip off for me:
- I buy a color, it gets unlocked, i can use it as often as i want to
- i buy a camo spec: a pattern, 3 colors, for a maximum of, let's say 5 dollars, it gets safed and i can use it as often as i want to, on as many mechs as i want to. To change it, i would either have to buy another camo spec or use the colors i unlocked.

- - Once camo is bought it should be a "skin" in a way. So I took Default, black, black, white. I should be able to buy it, then equip it on whichever mech i wish without cost. No having to re-buy it if i switch camo to something else.
-It's a perm camo, not lost ever, just transferred or stored. it becomes a "skin".
-Like this MC cost is fair, and not too expensive.
OR
- - Allow us to reequip old "paint jobs" for free, we don't want to pay for the same thing 5x if we change camos back and forth.
OR
- - Keep as is, But lowwer MC cost. The prices are too high for something that is not permanent, or refund 50% cost upon changing camo.

The C-Bills being 'non-temporary' I think would be a great workaround:
Want to re-skin your mech for 'free'? Sure - it'll only cost C-Bills - but if you want to change it at all you'll need to pay again.
But if I pay MC I should get one of the above options (or some other well-thought-out variant).

Yup... Buy the stencil once, but the paint and labor to paint the mech always costs ya something. Don't like it, don't paint your mech, or don't change your mind like a 16 yr old fickle school girl.

Patterns:
They should be permanently bought (per Mech) for MC and sit in a file cabinet next to your un-used fuzzy dice.
Colors / Paints:
(Free Paints)
A decent set of (slightly dirty) basic colors. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, Black, White.
(C-bills Paints)
You pay every time you re-paint a mech. A cleaner and larger set of colors (including 'better' versions of the free set)
(MC Paints)
A - You buy the set of paints (for each mech) and it can be used infinitely, but ONLY on that one mech.
(Each use also incurs a minor C-Bill fee for labor.)
or
B - You buy the set of paints and you have a limited number of times it can be used (like a bottle, HEY!). Can be applied to any mech up to X number of uses. (Each use also incurs a minor C-Bill fee for labor.)
MC paints would be 'premium' colors like: Lambo-Red, Purple with Gold-Fleck, Shiny Chrome, Shiny Gold, Glossy Pepto Pink, Race Car Yellow, Granny-Smith Green, etc.

the colors all look kinda meh (not mech, just meh). I have a jenner, cataphract, centurion and various hunchbacks in my garage, and i just couldn't make any of my mechs look better than with default color.
Granted, i'm no artist, but really, this shouldn't be too hard! All the colors look just dirty, and there are lots of parts that don't get painted... anyway - it looks rather bad.
Oh - and the fact that the least customizable mech is... my founders mech - that's just absurd.

I hope the camo system gets revised because there are so many ways to better implement it than currently. I have no problem buying multiple patterns or colors if they could be used over and over.
or buy packages of camo colors... and so many other great suggestions in this thread.
but with the current state of the camo system I can't see myself coloring more than one or two mechs at the most

I am really disposed to pay some mcs for a really black color. I mean deep black color.
Unfortunately the black from the pc-gamer skin - and the black wich we can buy for mc - is to less...
The next point is, that i would like to see, the possibilties to safe - different "Skins"
For example... I am editing the "PC-Gamer Skin"... - this skin for the mech - is edited and safed as PC-Gamer Skin...
If i would like to add a different version of this "Skin" - there is no chance - to safe a different version of this "Skin". Also there is no possibility to safe - a custom skin.
Please add this in the future !
Thx

Secondly the thing that BLOWS my mind is the fact that PGI thought that making us pay for colors was the way to go with this system.. WHEN if they would have handled this properly they would have given us all the colors for c-bills and then Launched a Sea of Custom Patterns on us for MC. No one would have complained and we would all be gobbling up Patterns at 3-5 bucks.
YOU HAD A PERFECT SYSTEM IN YOUR LAP WITH PC GAMER SKIN as your model.. yet you came along patched it and SCREWED it up just like so many other things of late....
