I'm not spending ANY MC in things that aren't permanent. That's it. If I pay, say, 250 MC for a camo spec (almost the same as a mech bay), I expect to be able to use it any number of times I wish. And 250 MC for ONE camo and ONE mech it's way too much. With that cost, it should be for ALL the variants of that mechs, and 500-1000 MC and you get it for ALL your mechs. I'd buy that, but not as it is. Just some basic colors with C-bills.

Voted but the poll means nothing unfortunately, people will lie on polls like these to get their way. PGI has the real data on how much people have spent so far on paint. Those numbers don't lie :(

I dislike the current system. It would be nice to swap cammo patterns dependant on the planet you were aiming for. At the minute your looking at $100 at least to paint your current mechs in your units colours and then thats it, why would you want to drop loads more cash to swap and change. If a new pattern comes out that looks better you have to sink extra cash all over again into it and it's a shame.

Games are meant to be fun and this could have added to the enjoyment of the game by owning colours and patterns and being able to deploy them with some flexibility. I will get little enjoyment out of the current camo setup and it could have been much more with a little balance between revenue and the service offered.

Until colors are sold permanently and freely changeable, I intend to veto this system by not buying paint.

Also, the available basic colors are ridiculously little, and ugly.

At the current prices, I would be spending MC if ... it was a permanent unlock either for the chassis or as a whole. Specific to the colors at the current pricing should be the whole pallet not just an individual color from a pallet. So I would pay the 250(?) MC for the entire woodland, mountain or whichever pallet if it was permanent (either for all mechs of that chassis or for all owned mechs). I won't however spend the MC on one temporary color of one pallet.

Totally agree with making MC color/paint schemes permanent, even if it were for only that mech. If they were to function similar to the PC Gamer Mag skin, then they outta up the MC cost.

Charging c-bills to swap them out doesn't make sense, if Dev's are going to charge c-bills for that then you might as well charge for every time you swap out something in your loadout. (I'd imagine it would be easier to paint a mech than hook up another large laser.)

I wish they had set up the whole system like the PC gamer skin.

Buy a skin and use it at will, interchangeably on any single mech AND get the color unlocks for that skin to use. Along with that allow colors to be unlocked for MC, not single use.

The system as it stands is only going to be pain once House/Company warfare gets going. People are going to want to swap their mechs back and forth depending on the match, and no one sane is going to spend cash to make that happen, at least not often.

I'd be much more tempted to invest in 3 to 10 colors and some skins if the system worked like the PC gamer skin and colors. As it stands I will not be spending MC on coloring or skinning my mechs. I'll live with the PC gamer skin and its few extra colors for now until the system changes, and if that goes away I'll do without under the current system.

Finally, the cbill color choices are a joke with the default skin, mostly dark colors that do not look good together and/or don't look very different on a mech.

I havent seen any patterns I like. I barely even notice them on other people's mechs. They seem washed out.

Honestly I will probably stick to C-bill/free camo. But I have bought Dazzling pattern and premium colors. But most of which will be a one time thing. If you gave the ability to buy and save patterns and colors per mech i would buy much more. Or a package deal purchase of a paint shop allowing you to paint all your mechs which ever pattern and color. Then the ability to purchase new patterns and colors later.

My issue with the colors is they are not showing up in game for me all the time.
For ex I redid my cataphract 1x with black/red/black (pc gamer colors) and looks great in mech lab but in game I am still green.
I got them to show once but next match gone again. (And of course you cannot tell unless someone tells you).
I dont know whether this is an issue with the pc gamer colors specifically but if I were to actually pay for colors and not have them stick Id be a tad annoyed.
Will experiment further...

And after further experimentaion problem appears intermittent.

As I've already posted in similar threads, the business model is extremely milking on us.

If they ask me to pay MCs for a skin, even for a pattern I'm fine with it. I'm even fine if they charge me cbills for changing them or for colouring them (although reaching 1 million Cbills for changing colors is rather ridiculous, you can buy any "big" weapon with much less cbills than that). But..

..but once I've paid for a texture and pattern (even colors) they should be available for ALL the owned and future mechs. With the current business, I'm never ever going to buy anything, since right now I already own 10 mechs and I'm not certainly wasting money to personalize each of them, and this system incetivates me to NEVER do this for any mech.

With another, less strict model, I'd probably waste off MCs on multiple skins/camos. With this I really feel joked.

If you ask me, it should be such that you buy colors, and then they are usable across all mechs, sections and patterns. It should not cost anything to re-use any color. ESPECIALLY given their current pricing.

I like being able to repaint the mechs, but IMHO the MC prices are too high. I´d suggest lowering the MC Prices a lot, while lowering the CB Prices on a smaller scale.

Why? I totally understand that PGI has to make money in order to keep the game up and running. But having to pay ~750 MC isnt a "micro"transaction anymore. Hell, you can get a COMMANDO for less. (680 MC)
A lot of people WANT to give you money for your efforts, PGI..but for a simple paint job, the actual prices are to much. Think of students e.g. who simply can´t afford ~3,50 fur such a simple thing.

Again: The magic word is MICRO transactions....50 Cent per Paint Job would be totally ok..even for every time you want to change the mechs color. (No...not per color...per total color change)

On the other hand, all the people who arent willing (not because they can´t) to pay a dime on that game at all...well, I just can say: happy grinding! Thats the reason I dont mind higher CBill Prices.

Or at least apply your saved patterns / schemes to another mech for a handful of CBills (like, 25k or something.)

I'm all for money sinks. This is not a money sink. This is a money dump.

My wish

MC to unlock paterns / color on specific mech/variant.

CBill to apply/repaint.

money will flow for PGI if they release new paterns from time to time, instead of hoping on people to switch patern and pay over and over for the same paterns / colors...

Greedy much PGI?

I have to pay $2 to $4 dollars every time I want to change colors?

Between a Founders account for myself, my son, and extra MC purchased I have already invested over $300 in your game. I don't regret that and obviously I am not afraid to spend money on what has the potential to be a great game. But I have not and will not spend a dime on a one time paint job for a virtual robot.

If we spend real dollars to unlock a paint, we should not have to pay for it every time we want to use it.

I am so disappointed with this system.

Colors should work like items - I pay for it, I got it. I remove it from this mech, I want to put it on another - I shouldn't pay for it again!
If you want all 5 Mechs painted white, you should pay for 5 white paints, but when swapping paint to something else - it should remain in the inventory.

This would be a nice compromise between Piranha earning cbills, and people not being frustrated.
Current system is the worst one I could ever imagine.
(and to make it even more fun - free colors are horrible)

my problem with the paint - cost thing is that the game is still in open beta.... i think that they are allready making money before the real release of the game...i agree with the project so far but lets take in mind other online games...when you buy a game you take full release with all the package (items etc.). i think that they must stop asking from players to pay real money for camo or colors, when at the same time they post news from the world of MW....i think that real money must be spent on "special deliveries" for example the earlier release of mech with the fluff of testing it...the whole point of keeping a real callendar of the world is to make a fantasy world as believable as it can be...sorry for the eng guys.

I would not mind in the slightest paying 10 dollars for a pattern that I really like, and paying extra money for colors 3 or 5 dollars each, however I want to mount this on every mech I own once I have made my initial purchase. I would be ok with paying c bills to continue mounting my chosen colors per mech. a repaint (fee).

I would definitely buy colors and patterns if they were permanent. The fact that I have to repurchase them with real money every time is a complete turn off. I'm perfectly fine repurchasing paint with c-bills, since I can justify that in game. The current system simply feels like a ripoff money grab unfortunately.

I also do not see the logic behind tying colors to mechs. It's a color, every mech should be able to be painted any color (for a c-bills cost most likely). I can better justify patterns being tied to chassis since the mesh/stencil would need to be different for every chassis, but it still is a little money-grubbing to me.

Also, thank you for this well done and thought out poll.
